Ngl the chipps nerf to his DP and wild assault are pretty bad for his game plan. It’s a little harder to just get wallbreaks and infinite tension which is amazing for my character. No RC after DP makes my defense worse when my health is already so low. The ninja moves are too fun to not use though so I will be like bean and be a better ninja.
Yeah, the DP changes are rough, but something no one seems to be mentioning are the burst gain changes. End result is an indirect buff for Chipp since he doesn't give opponents full bust gauge with pressure strings plus wallbreak anymore. It's something I bitched about a lot last patch, and it feels way better now despite being a relatively small change in passive + wallstick gains.
So… Baiken nerfs… Baiken wasn’t directly nerfed this patch but moves that has invincibility (mostly DPs) was nerfed this patch, this included Baiken’s parry. This was especially bad with Baiken because 1. Baiken was already not that strong and 2. She can’t combo with RC after the parry which… sucks to say the least… I’m really not sure why they didn’t compensate buff Baiken after these nerfs, it kind of feels like they wanted Baiken to be bad this patch… Despite the nerfs, I still think Baiken is a good character in her own right, just not as strong as most others… Baiken has good damage, decent defense and a high guts rating (4) so I like to think that she’s a pretty alright all-rounder. Only problem is she’s lacking in a few areas, unlike Ky for example who is the true all-rounder in this game. The only thing that Ky is laking, is his taste for food… (Please just at least put salt on your food…) A reason I have for why they did nerf Baiken, might’ve been that she’s strong at lower levels? I might be wrong but considering her low skill floor and can be hard to deal with, she could be dominating on lower floors. Then again Elphelt got buffed and she was strong at lower floors… Overall Baiken is still OK but she’s 100% taken a back seat this patch, hopefully they’ll make up for it when next patch drops.
An actual damage buff would make Chipp instantly top tier. Its just that even "low damage" characters can hit %50-%65 at the right conditions in this game.
Both players are pretty aggressive, like half of the combo have counterhit starter. Also most Chipp tends to use 5K in neutral/blockstring for low risk-low reward combos, meanwhile Beans tends to use big buttons like f.S, 5HS and 6P
Risc gauge allows anyone to do damage. The reason his Oki is 6H > 236H is to build Risc and continue pressure as he has plenty of options to mix during block strings with meter.

@@Impersonatr This is true. A nerf to universal burst gain is a stealth buff for Chipp considering how often he wallbreaks opponents.

Baiken has low defense, but the lower her health is the more tanky she is. This is with everyone but Baiken has one of the best.
