Bill, Eamonn, John and Liam…the end of an era. Football coverage is not the same anymore, those were the days
That's for sure 25 years wow where does the time go ..
Football is not the same anymore. Back 20 years ago, play like men, call it the way it is, no such thing as "woke"
Rip real life
So many memories from them 4 men on punditry growing up 😢
eamon john and liam still the the stand podcast on mondays
Agreed
I used to look foward to the commentarys more than the actual matches when it was, Bill, Giles, Brady and Dunphy. RTE really had a great thing going then
I worked in The Pilot bar back in around 1975. I remember Liam coming in with his parents for a drink. He was a well known star at that time but if you didn’t know it he wouldn’t tell you. He queued at the counter with his neighbours until it was his turn. He spoke to the staff with respect. He is one of Dublin’s finest people ever never mind Ireland. Long life and many more happy years to Liam.
I remember thinking at the time that it really was a golden age of football punditry with Bill, Eamon John and Liam in their pomp. It's sad now that the last of the fab four has shuffled off the stage.
I still love listening to Eamon, John and Liam on The Stand. Miss Bill as well from the old quartet. End of an era. Great to have Didi, his knowledge of the game is the best now we have on the tv.
love LIAM BRADY my childhood hero, alongside EL DIEGO , what a player!! and what a football analist, he doesnt hold anything, he is an honest football man, and he wanted MESSI and ARGENTINA, TO WIN IT IN DECEMBER, the best ever irish footballer, the king irish #10 of italian football in the 80's I still think he should have played in iTALY 1990 (big jack got it wrong there), from the bench at least , what a football legend!!
All the best Liam!.Thanks very much for everything.
We’re going to miss you,it won’t be the same but the memories shouldn’t be forgotten about being a pundit.
People talk about how bad the team is, but I fear we're heading that way with pundits too. Liam Brady and John Giles were great players, dunphy to a lesser extent, but now we'll have Sadlier, Stephen Kelly, Kenny Cunningham. Big step down.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Great man, amazing player at the time even when he was getting older playing for West Ham. He always brought great balance, a real insight into the ins and outs of the professional game. That time he spent out in Italy really set him apart allowing him to be able to see the game from a global perspective and not get so caught up in the local/parochial issues.
I miss Bill too, he was a nice man, he wasn't very old only 76
Liam Brady an Arsenal legend with a complete understanding of the game and my hero.
Met him at an end of the season do for fans at Highbury just a top bloke.
"Supreme Architect" here on UA-cam have all the latest podcasts featuring Eamon, John & Liam. The boys still have a lot to say, just not on RTE.
Liam you’re an Irish Legend. Forever. On earth. And in heaven. Thanks for all you did for us. Ireland v USSR. Ireland v Brazil. The mayhem of Sofia. Ireland v Bulgaria. And more and more. Thanks so much…..I did one insult about Liam John and Eamonn on the dreaded social media. And I apologise for that. Wishing you all the best. Liam John Eamonn and Bill. Will always be Legends in my eyes. Liam. Everything you’ve done on and off the pitch. WAS AND IS CLASS. All the best Liam. Wishing you health happiness and prosperity. Eamon. L.
"Across the purple sky all the birds are leaving.. But who knows where the time goes?" The end of a most wonderful era sadly. I sat in the front of the TV as a 14yr old boy watching Ireland take their first foray into tournament football @ Euro '88. Ray Houghton! Italia '90's penalties. Alf & Home and Away are cancelled. Giants Stadium in NYC '94. Saipan in '02. Box office stuff each and every moment. Bill, John, Eamonn latterly Liam were our spirit guides. The country held its breath. I'm glad to have grown up and lived in such an era. That boy (i.e. me!) turns 50yrs old later this year. Where does the time go indeed!
greetings from BS AS , your words remind me my childhood the same, remember the euro 88 in atc, they irish beaten the lil englanders there, and the wcs moran, mcgrath , etc and all your players that were out because of injuries beglin lawrenson quinn in 1994, and the stellar BRADY in el calcio, vs EL DIEGO, WHAT I TELL YOU is Liam wanted ARGENTINA to win it last december check his long smile, all irish wanted brother to win it , get more kids into football new bradys and stapletons the green irish people will be happier
@@javierhernanfranzoia6546 Mi amigo I myself wanted so much for Argentina to win the WC last year and was delighted when they eventually beat the French. I have always had a soft spot for La Albiceleste since I witnessed el Diego in Mexico 86. I was only 12yrs old @ time but loved watching him humiliate the "old enemy" with his hand & foot. The 2nd goal probably the best of all time? Unfortunately the current generation of Irish kids prefer computers & social media to kicking a ball around the streets. I follow Man Utd and love the passion & skill of the Argentinian players MU signed over the years : hard boys - Martinez, Heinze; pure genius of Veron, Tevez; unfulfilled quality of di Maria; hopefully Garnacho will bloom? The only thing both of us would agree is hopefully the winners of WC 1966 dont do it again anytime soon!!! We would never hear the end of it.... "a dog that always barks gets little attention"! 👌
chippy Brady with that left foot.Revered around the world.not many scored the winner against Brazil.from a Corkman thank Liam
Billo and the three amigos will never be matched for me.
It's probably a miracle how good the RTE punditry was with Giles, Dunphy, Brady and Bill. Pretty much nothing else has come close.
Back in the day youd watch the soccer more because of those lads than the actual game, tje glory days
best football show ever in english, funny yet educational
He should be ireland manager
The man's brutal honesty will be missed, you could sense the respect Didi has for Liam last night.
"Are we gonna qualify?"
"No."
Liam Legend Brady.
Charming, brilliant man, and a wonderful pundit. End of an era.
The analysis on RTE back in the day was way above the la-la land tripe in England.
Eamon John Bill and Liam were unbelievable, the state of the punditry in Ireland right now is the worst I’ve ever seen though, it’s unwatchable
@@dylanmulroe9978 Too scared to offend anyone now. They're probably told to behave themselves by the halfwits in the suits :(
@@jackmurphy6864 facts lad, such a shame too, feel sorry for the kids having to grow up with this shit, we’re lucky we got the 4 lads on our tv’s growing up
@@dylanmulroe9978 😆👍👍
Bill john liam eamon
4 musketeers end of a era
"Fans kept they,re money to pay the heating bills" Quote of a man who is in touch with reality.
Legend and will be badly missed as a pundit
World class midfielder, and a humane man.
John Liam Eamon I Will Never forget you Rest in peace Bill You War a Gentleman 🙏🇮🇪
A genuine level, on the field on on the panel
The greatest panel in Europe and now we are left listening to woeful analysis. Sad times
An absolute legend.
We will never see the likes of them again
..... Bill Eamon, Giles, and Liam.
best football show for english speakers those 3 amigos it has to be shown in schools !!!, then SPAIN copied the idea, and they made the XIRINGUITO de JUGONES,
@@javierhernanfranzoia6546 i seen a similar strategy in netherlands TV
Liam was the final member of Rte’s dream team panels:
Bill O’Herlihy, Dunphy ,Giles, Brady
Michael Lyster, Joe Brolly, Pat Spillane, Colm O’Rourke
Both panels were great entertainment and have been replaced by robots who are afraid to speak their mind
Good for Liam. He was a good player. I have to say that Giles and Dumpty go a bit overboard wit the praise though. They were contending that he was better than Platini. 😊
thanks for your service chippy
It will never be the same again, them 3 legends and bill were box office, now ya have Joanne cantwell , terrible presenter, and some muppets, it's all over lads😢
Pundits are shite now . Gonna miss the old guard
Fairwell liam
Just cant get away from joanne nothing against her but shes stuck in everything brolly spillane o Rourke now all the soccer panel its boring safe people pleasing its a mans game
Arsenal selling Brady is still one of footballs greatest mysteries.
la vecchia signora is the reason mate
Could not keep him cause he got to big,and wanted to go to a bigger club
Well done Eamon. Good player and football man in General. Not like the pricks now adays
The lads bill o herlihy john giles eamon dunphy and liam brady knew there stuff about football not the trash is on today pc progranda stage written crap
and keane made the goal
Liam Legend Brady, straight talking, no-nonsense, unlike the dour, generic, sterile yes men brigade of punditry of today, its in the Sunday Game now too sadly, it's a microcosm of the state of of national team as well. Liam Brady's punditry was at ground level, kept it succinct and simple, and was analyzed. Straight to the point.
Bill, John, Eamon, and Liam, irreplaceable in my eyes.
Like the Sunday Game, Michael, Pat, Joe and Colm are irreplaceable. TV is gone to shite now. Too woke snd pc. No substance nor personalities anymore.
Roy was right!
And look at the muppets we have now.
The official end of the golden age of Irish football punditry. Boring now.
Now we have Sadlier and pc WOKEness
God help us
