I think that when doing a video of this nature it is good to research the history of the topic. VOX originates from voice operated switch (or exchange depending on usage, and hence the X, though X is associated with a switch in some contexts). Knowing that history, the VOX acronym makes more sense. It is also good to emphasize the hands free idea since that is one of it's best uses. The purpose is to have an option for when you can't or don't want to use ptt. Combine a vox compatible throat mic with vox and you can do reasonably well. You can also do ok with a good vox capable mic, but it's best to keep your expectations pretty low. It's not a great option for most cases but it has a role.
VOX is an acronym, but it is also the Latin term for "voice", as in the Latin expression "Vox populi" voice of the people. I suspect a pesky EE back in the day when the Catholic school boys had to learn Latin (like me) made a play on words ; > )
VOX normally comes with multiple levels of sensitivity. Second, good quality head sets' microphones gain are designed for close sounds only, so it will not pick up far away noises, in the same way professional mics work. The latter will improve dramatically the usability of VOX.

Voice Operated Exchange
Would a gamer's headset be vox? For instance when I'm playing fortnite with my kids online we can all talk at the same time and talk over each other.
Yes, a gaming headset or any standard PC headset would technically be VOX if it transmits audio the moment it detects anything.
