Griffey says he didn't feel cheated by those taking performance enhancing drugs and attempts to explain their mindset: “Think about this: you’re 25-years-old, you have two kids, you’re up and down Triple A and the big leagues, this $100 bottle of steroids could keep you in the bigs to make half a million dollars. What do you think people are going to do?” Griffey also discusses why he never took PEDs himself and how it impacted his legacy.

My Dad said, "Son, you're not gonna be the biggest. You're not gonna be strongest. You're not gonna be the fastest. Just don't let nobody outwork you." 💪

Ken Griffey would have been one of the Greatest all time if he never got hurt or was in the steroid era...He was Baseballs Michael Jordan during his day.

To this day...I have no idea why this man isn't more revered as a first ballot hall of famer! He was a class act, never touched steroids, respected the game and never put down anyone even with a father like Ken Griffey Sr. My favorite baseball player of all time, Ken Griffey should be the face of 90s baseball today.

My parents bought me his sneakers for $140 in 1996 when I moved to a new school in 6th grade. The shoes literally made me popular on day 1

I watched MLB in 90s. Prime Griffey was like the Michael Jordan of baseball. A complete player who had no weakness in his game. Made it look so easy

The kid was always a breathe of fresh air. Humble, respectful, dignity and never negative. Even with Shannon trying his best to push him to speak against his contemporaries for steroid use, he never takes the bait. Just an all around good guy.

I don’t think a single kid in the 90’s didn’t try to emulate the sweetest swing of ALL TIME!

Born and raised in Seattle from 1986- now. I love this man. I love being able to talk baseball with other people and bring up the kid. Best baseball player ever.

His aunt was my mom's hairdresser and my mom cleaned the aunt's house here in northeast Ohio when Jr made it to the show. He would come his Aunt's barbecues when the Mariners were playing the Indians and shoot hops with all the neighborhood kids. Autographed my glove and a card for me there when I was 11.
