I was a bit freaked out that you started talking about running, but then you brought it back to pigeons and cannibalism, so it was like phew, back on track
As someone who’s taking part in Grit from Australia, I’m just stoked to be able to challenge myself. The sense of accomplishment when I achieve my distance goals is a gift in and of itself. Thanks for putting on such a fantastic event!
Kudos on trying the Anta … they have 3 levels of shoes and there is an Anta C202 5 GT Pro that is 25 grams lighter than the C202 5 GT and is one of the best racing shoes I’ve ever tried. They also have a more aggressive racer called the C10 Pro which is close to the Cielo X1 in form/feel but 60 grams lighter.
There are two ways to get out of under the bar for bench press, ask the trainers at your gym and learn them. Overhead press is very hard to progress compared to other lifts. Go get those gains!
Book recommendations! If you're looking for running books, I highly recommend Jenny Tough's Solo, about her experience running across 6 continents as a woman alone. Non-running--I think Robbie and Thomas would like Tomorrow, and Tomorrow and, Tomorrow. It's about a group of game developers in the 90s and as well as the nostalgia vibe, it's just a great portrayal of people who are creative outsiders. I am obviously a liberal arts person and during my brief flirtation with CrossFit---I feel ya on the math of lifting. If it didn't nearly destroy me, I would also have quit between keeping track of the weights, plates, and rep schemes.
I’m doing a distance learning creative writing MA and On Writing is my bible! What were the other two books you recommended? I might have missed them..
Spiderman get's the symbiosis and becomes Venom himself, it's just not named, then he gets rid of it and Brock get it, Carnage is the psycho that gets another symbiosis
I hear you on the address in the US , I have my dad and sisters .. but I worry about the export/import duties .. since Brexit it has gotten stupid they always want to know the value and then smack you over the head with value added tax etc...for now will continue to do Grit for the fun of it.

It was only a question of when, not if 😂
Elements of Style by Strunk and White is the fundamental granddaddy and most classic of all other books on writing in the English language
Ah yes, of course. That's almost a given. That would for sure be on the list.
1:08:57 Thanks Robbe I almost dropped the barbell mid front squat from laughing so hard😂😂😂
Lol happy to help

I thought the Wolf was Ralphie for a second
Robbe twice referring to his bibs review using the word OVERALL… chefs kiss 😂 clearly not intentional but I enjoyed it.

Interesting!
I'm halfway through The Midnight Library, also a runner finding time to read more. Sometimes, I skip runs to finish a good book!

Good to see Anta C202 5 GT

29:47 giving Dr. Robotnik vibes in the NDO pic with the glasses.
"Meg has nothing to do now. We're on track." No truer words...
Meg asking Robbe about his shoe choice when we all know he has just clocked 3000 miles on his Novablast 3 LOL
Lol I want to see how far Strava will go until it breaks
You guys are so flexing with those mic cranes! They're massive!
🤣
Not gritty yet....0 miles! Weather partially a factor...but I can get on my treadmill!

The Art and Craft of Feature Writing by William E. Blundell, and Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott. Enjoy!
