Can we take the math with physics course then divert to physics in second year? How do I get in for that?

Unfortunately, this largely depends on the specific college, and may also vary based on the director of studies for the subject you're hoping to switch to:
-Some colleges are quite flexible, allowing you to change as long as you meet the A-level requirements and can provide basic reasons for wanting the switch.
-Others may have a more structured process, such as requiring you to 'try out' your original subject for the first half of the term or go through a formal interview with the new director of studies.
-In some cases, colleges may only permit changes after you've completed your first year, often contingent on achieving at least a 2.1 in your first-year exams.
-There are also colleges that may not allow any changes, especially if the new subject doesn't accept transfers into the second year or if they have a policy requiring you to wait a year.
The best approach is to contact your college for clarification.
Rest assured, they won’t withdraw your current offer for asking, but it may be best to

If you do maths with physics it will be easy to swap to physics in second year. It's the reason the course exists (instead of only having maths).

Are you able to get accepted if you are taking Maths, further maths, physics and computer science?
