Thank you! Here I thought I needed to replace my old keypad, due to the not-so-responsive buttons. I'll be doing this cleaning procedure later on. You just have to love UA-cam... and people like you who post videos like this. Again, thank you.
Ok, I had given up on my Ademco 6137 alarm pad as the numbers 1 and 2 were not working, but all other buttons were good. Took it apart several times and thought I had cleaned all. Still not working and started looking for a hard to get replacement. After listening to this cleaning presentation, I used the exact method with toothbrush and Windex. After good scrubbing and drying, the dead buttons came back to life. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!! Never give up until it is done :) Tony
Just want to thank you for this video. My number 3 button on my Honeywell Ademco panel stopped working so we couldn't use that panel, which was right by the back door, to go into STAY mode. If either of us had to leave the house while the other was asleep we would have to set the alarm in the bedroom, usually waking the other person up, and then run out of the house. Once we had a baby this became such a hassle. The first minute of this video showed me how to get the panel taken apart which was all I needed. A white sticker with a bar code on the circuit board had lost its stickiness and fallen and was covering the circuit for the number 3 button. Removed it and put the panel back together and its working like a champ now. Saved me a service call and new keypad priced at $180 by my security company. THANK YOU!
I was going crazy having to press a couple of (critical) keys on my keypad harder and harder to set or de-arm my alarm. It would only happen in winter and was getting worse and worse. Cleaned the keypad and circuit board and now the keys respond perfectly, like they're brand new. Thanks!
Great video. I just used it to clean one of my panels which looked identical to the example in the video. However, I have a second one to clean which doesn't have screws holding the wires. The wires look like they are attached to a module on the board. Maybe pushed in? Wish I can attach the pic here. Can anyone help me with instructions for removing and reattaching the wires if possible? Please help. Thanks!
When cleaning my keypad, would you recommend that I shut down the power to the alarm system prior to tackling this project of cleaning or servicing the keypad? I feel more comfortable with tackling this keypad cleaning and service if the system is powered completely down. How do you power the alarm system completely down?
How do you fix and issue with the alarm system not working right we think it's the sensor in the door frame not working right and letting the alarm system know that the door is being open how do I fix this issue

Thank you! Just did mine, 6 & 9 keys were unresponsive. Now work great. This saved me well over $100 for a new keypad.

Thank you! You made it sound so easy and it was. Clear instructions. I used 70% alcohol to clean keypad. Works perfectly now.

How do you fix and issue with the alarm system not working right we think it's the sensor in the door frame not working right and letting the alarm system know that the door is being open how do I fix this issue
replace the door contact
Try cleaning the keypad first. I would use alcohol. If that doesn't fix the problem then you may have to replace the sensor on the door frame.
Tamper?!?!
