Vignelli is talking specifically about postmodernism as a movement in design -- which is related to but not identical with the postmodern movement in cultural studies and other disciplines. FYI.
People mostly knew postmodernism by its aesthetic up untill recently. This video was from 2012, well before the internet blew upwith anti- pomo-philosophy videos. jordan Peterson has only had an online presence for a couple years.
he may as well speak about humanistics and society studies, the postmodernistic views are obsolete, outright stupid and as Chomsky puts its "cringe". its not a serious school of thought anymore. it brought us litteraly nothing, a pure destruction of any and all meaning, which it didnt replace with anything worthy ... let me be frank: fuck Foucault, and fuck Derrida, the lesser "parisiennes" i wont even mention.
You're talking about a very loud and attention grabbing subset of the population. And mostly limited to elite institutions. Far less so in business school or trade schools. Primarily in the humanities.
@@cristianmartinez9091 The guy is conflating the postmodern design style with the Jordan Peterson strawman of postmodernism. i don't think it can't get dumber than that
post modernism isn't gone it mutated into critical theories and intersectionality most of the theories behind critical theories are traced right back to post modernism
I don't think so Big Think, it is now six years later and the movement isn't getting smaller, perhaps the idea of a Philosophy that any can think they understand, that tells them; Whatever you think is correct, for you, you can't make mistakes because nothing can be a mistake everything is relative, and even if you don't know what that means you can be pretty sure no one else does either so if an idea doesn't seem to be working, think of a new one you are an intellectual the Professor told your Father that and he was very pleased, join a cause SJW seems to naturally lend its's elf to many of the new Philosophy's adherents, anyway, Good Luck to you all in anything you venture.
That's an assertion. Just look around, we are knee deep in a post-truth "choose your own reality" society rn. Established science is regarded as opinion among the laymans. Epistemological certainty is nil, no source is truth, empiricism is disreguarded if it conflicts with belief and grand narratives are torn down.

Then it should be in the title to not to confuse people.

If you think postmodernism is gone, you haven't been paying attention to college campuses
The Meme Awakens I wish it was gone, unfortunately it's all to prevalent at my University.

You are aware this is about the design movement not the political movement?
Postmodernism isn’t the same as leftist ideology. Read postmodernism instead of listening to lies about it.

You think it's dead? Come to South Africa.
I'm from South Africa and have been informing myself of this Postmodern phenomena in America, but I fail to see it in South Africa. Can you elaborate?
Google W?EB Dubois
Lol! He knows nothing about the new gender policies
You're an idiot
Postmodernism is alive and well, how out of touch
You are out if touch. It is anachronistic
That's an assertion.
