    "Improved" spectrum is not really accurate. The spectrum is simply a shift, rather than being "Improved". We now have 4 choices, instead of 2.
    You can argue that near UV is somthing you want esthetically, but is that an improvement? If we instead look at photosynthetic pigments, their is a drop-off with anything below 450nm. Anything under 400nm is non-photosynthetic entirely. Making that near-UV a pure esthetic choice, based off personal taste of how the corals look to your eye.
    And that shift may actually lower the photosynthetic related values of the G6 blue, as compared to the G5 blue. So for "coral health", the Gen 5 blue still looks superior to the Gen 6 blue on paper.
    While the variations in the Pro's seem negligible. This expanded selection simply provides a warmer or cooler spectrum option.
    I'm not saying the Gen 6 is "bad", on the contrary, the Gen 6 looks amazing. And the lens are an improvement, yes. But that represent the only legitimate "improvement" in the entire design.
    I love the Gen 5 overall, and the Gen 6 looks to be it's equal. Offering even better spread. But the argument this is a significant "improvement" is an argument EcoTech has not been able to show.
    No, this is EcoTech answering consumer demand by giving a better actinic spectrum. Which is fine. But, let's be clear eyed and call a spade, a spade.
    Looking at this clear eyed is an attempt to temper lighting manufacturers from chasing fads over biological requirements. Because not pushing back on fads is how this community had the completely counter productive "PAR Wars" that stagnated actual advancements. Which chased higher and higher numbers and ignored basic concepts like spectrum or spead.
    Personally: give me improvements that actually improves coral health, based of our understandingof their biology. Such as the len's more uniform spread.

    I've had the xr15 glue G6 for about a week now, if you're keeping SPS this light needs to be mounted lower than recommended or you are throwing away way to much par. Just look at the side by sides par graphs in the videos, massive reduction in par with the g6. I've got mine just under 6" above the water and still have a crap load of light spill, and my SPS are now getting enough par everywhere

    The best correction is the beam angle. The G5 is a Lazer beam that will fry corals. They are super powerful and only need about 25% intensity to meet 300 PAR.

    • @tomg5405
      @tomg5405 2 роки тому +2

      The loose in paar is very strong and the only thing you will get with this is that light spill even more in your eyes than with the g5 you can see it it other videos. I never fried any corals with the g5 (but I used them all time with the Diffusor). But what you could fry is the led itself with the uv with plastic lense..

      @@russeladams2003 I spoke with a manufacturer of light, he told me, they will probably hold between 2 an 3 years( in his test it can last over 3 years) then they may melt after. People will no more have garanty, perfect for buy a newer Modell then and for them to not more be responsiv..this is not good as when you buy led you want to save money against t5.. Not buy a new fixture every 3 years. Red sea, kessil and orphek for this reason all use glass lenses now. Ecotech could have do same if they took the time instead of rushing for not loose marker share.but it seems they not chose the customer service but the easy money. It was a brand I trusted until the g5 . For the g5 and g6 they not tell all the true and used misleading marketing claims. They not realise they will loose many customers like this or maybe not as many newbies not have the knowledge to realise this and jump in every new models same they do with phones.

      led sure has alot of defects, i like the vortechs and vectra line, but if they cant have uniform coloured leds throughout their units its time to go back to the drawing board, and really make something new and revolutionary not just swap out some colours and make the leds smaller and weaker with a slightly different optic and then demand such a big price tag.

      At this time, the Radion G6's are not Apex compatible. They are controlled via the Mobius app.

    Good time! I plan to buy an aquarium with dimensions of 1200mm *600mm*500mm (height). I plan to contain LPS and SPS corals, can you tell me which Radion blue lamps are needed for lighting ?

    • @BRStv
      @BRStv  2 роки тому

      A pair of the XR30's will work great for a tank of that size. If you don't have a center brace, you could also consider three of the XR15's as long as you put some thought into the SPS coral placement.

    What if I have Gen 5 Blue and I like to upgrade it to Gen6 Blue as well. What it will do?

    • @BRStv
      @BRStv  2 роки тому

      You can definitely do that upgrade and all you'd need to pick up is an upgrade kit, not an entire new LED fixture. The main difference is that the G6s have improved optics so that you'll get more even and wider coverage.

    • @BRStv
      @BRStv  2 роки тому +1

      Three of the XR15s over a 4 foot long mixed reef would be a great lighting solution. Pro vs Blue is a bit of a personal decision based on how you like the tank to look. Both will grow corals, but as the name suggests, go with the Blue if you prefer a more blue looking aquarium. Go with the Pros if you like something closer to a daylight look or somewhere in between.
