I effectively rode it in the dark my first time because I had my eyes shut for practically the whole ride. I remember about 3 seconds of trees, approaching a tunnel that looked like it was going to take my head off, and darkness. I saw more of it from this video than I did while I was actually riding it.
This terrain coaster looks like it's forever accelerating, never losing energy. Look at the (apparent) height of the middle course brakes, that's amazing !
These kinds of coasters are the best. The layout isn't visible during the ride so every new turn is an adventure in to the unknown and like you say, I love how it has a mid-course brake run almost at ground level, then it accelerates again throughout the rest of the ride!
They did a great job using the terrain to their advantage. You can’t tell that the land over by the turn around is actually uphill from the station, which means the train can build and sustain speed on its return because It’s primarily traveling downhill the whole time
This thing seems to speed up on the second half Finally got a chance to ride this thing. rode it 15 times. its now my all time favorite coaster out of 114
ThatIntaminGuy went to six flags 3 weeks before going back to holiday world for the summer again and the beast is shit compared to the voyage... the beat is a lot rougher and not as fun
It’s not really classic, it was built in 2006. And besides, unless it’s a hybrid, woodies are never going to be as smooth as a steel coaster at it’s best.
+KingRCT3 You just have to take a closer look at the video. Towards the end after their ride one person says "could you do 38 times?" This probably means that they road the roller coaster 37 times, since 38 is such a random number
@ 3:07 "This knocks El Toro down to #2" Well crap I better get to Santa Claus, Indiana ASAP now -- maybe for Holiwood nights one year, El Toro's my #1 woodie & #1 overall as of now.
I rode this today. I was freaking out while in line, mostly because there was a severe thunderstorm warning in Santa Claus. Also because I'm really scared of heights. I rode it and it was AWESOME! Probably the best roller coaster I've ever ridden!
This looks like a really fun ride. Looks to have plenty of airtime, a great out and back design, fakes you out with thinking that it's over, a fun use of tunnels, interacts with another coaster, and the brake run mid ride doesn't detract from the ride at all like it does on some other coasters. I'll add it to my bucket list!
Man, such a great coaster. Can't wait to get back to southern Indiana. So many great elements: the turns, the tunnels, the speed, the air, the fact that half way through you think you're done and then you SPEED UP for the last half, and best of all that "clink clink clink" as you climb that first hill... just knowing something awesome is about to happen. There's a reason Voyage is on the top of so many best wood coaster lists. It absolutely deserves it.
I think this was the first time I have sat here and watched the entire ride for the first time all the way through. Wow! What an intense woody! I think this has become my favorite woody just from watching.
Flying out of the tunnel that has the triple down into the support structure is probably the highest or most intense point for me then the velocity seems to go overboard and cocoons my senses so I'm really just bracing for the end for almost the entire second half. It becomes too much but not in a bad way, just overwhelming and making multiple re-rides a no-go for me. But it's still dominates the days park experience in a positive way.
+CoasterSiaye The triple down after the MCBR is my favorite part. I love the temperature getting colder in three progressive steps as you drop down the enclosure. The fact that it happens after what seems like nearing an end close to level ground makes it very effective.
After the first drop, you're actually working your way up a hill, the turn-a-round is on top of said hill, then after the Mid-course, you're working your way back down
LOVE THIS RIDE!!! There is hardly a wait around the afternoon so me and my cousin rode this 7 times in a row, same seat in the front! it was incredible
Excellent Video! I am not brave enough to ride roller coasters for real so this is the closest that I can get so that I can indeed enjoy the fun without having to worry about any fears! Excellent job, I loved it!
the drop from the start alone is enough to scare the piss out of you.. then its dark and light dark and light while your twisting with the forces....I was constantly screaming on this one no doubt its a thrill. Def the best wooden roller coaster out there. It has all the feel of the train going off its "tracks" but your on the tracks going with this insane movement.
Got to ride this for the first time this past week on my big theme park trip. It is currently my new #1. Wow did it ever live up to everything I've ever heard about it. Rode it 10 times thru the day...was wild in the back.
Amazing ride. The double-down (in the dark, no less) is worth the park’s admission on its own. Not to mention the first three vertical drops which quickly teach you the concept of zero gravity.
i went on this ride when a rainstorm was about to hit and the winds were really scary and I honestly thought I was gonna die but then I had fun the entire ride. Honestly the best rollercoaster I've been on
I've ridden Cú Chulainn which was an absolutely fantastic woodie, but this thing looks like Cú Chulainn on steroids! This is one my top bucket list coasters and I can't wait until i get the chance to get over to America to ride this fab looking woodie!
Wow. This is certainly an awesome ride! Thanks for sharing! Although I must admit, you're sitting awkwardly close to another man to be bringing up your "number one woody."
I’ve gone to Holiday World at least once every summer for the past 18 years and the only time I was ever brave enough to ride this was when I was like 11, and honestly I did enjoy it. My main issue is the first drop; while it looks like here it only takes maybe 20 seconds, it felt like forever when I was on it and considering my fear of heights past a certain point (yeah it’s weird, I don’t know, I ride all the other coasters here with no issues at all) I just have a hard time ever convincing myself to go on it again. Glad it’s getting some love though, HW is my childhood ❤️
It is, the park alone is worth a trip to visit but this coaster is just amazing. It took my top wooden coaster spot after the first ride! Holiday World has a great line up of coasters overall and an awesome water park!
Man, I remember when I was like 7, looking at this from one of the water rides and saying, "I will NEVER tide that thing. A few years later, one of my favorite rides in the park. :)
I went on this a couple months ago. My first coaster. I was with my brother, mom and her boyfriend at the time. Me and my mom told the guys to not let us back out no matter what. I was terrified and i was so ready to back out. That was the coolest and scariest thing ever I could only breather when going up a small hill, and i couldnt scream because of it. I took advantage and screamed as loud as i could. I cant wait to go to holiday world again to challenge that coaster again
WOW Imagine this coaster getting the RMC treatment with the length of this layout, that would be so dope, I havent been here but I'm for sure adding this place to my park list for next summer lol...
As it goes out to the turnaround section of the ride, the land elevation changes too. So it goes up about 80 feet but you really don't notice it unless you're walking back to Thunderbird. The triple down after the mid course brakes is the first part where you really feel the change and speed pick up again and then of course you go back down that elevation as you head back to the station. Riding the coaster, it's incredible how fast it's, still going at the very end of the ride. Definitely recommend riding if you never have! Best wooden coaster I've ever ridden!
I love it because I go every year and I always see people that have never been there and their always scared of some rides and I’m always thinking “oh just wait..they get better”
This ride looks sick! A tall fast and long lasting roller coaster. The only other big epic WOODEN coaster I've been on is the beast at kings island and it was good. I like how it was long and it goes thru the woods like middle of no where but the voyage looks consistantly faster and smoother
The first half of the ride is all uphill, so the trip back to the station is all back downhill, allowing the train to pick up a ton of speed. When I rode this for the first time last summer, I started laughing hysterically during that return trip to the point where I couldn't even control myself. It's just amazing.
That looks like a fun coaster. The Beast at Kings Island is incredible at night (incredible during the day too, but I digress). I bet The Voyage is just as great or better at night than The Beast is at night, too.
It was my first legitimate coaster outside of the one at the Indianapolis Zoo. I sat on the gift shop floor for about 15 minutes afterwards, just kind of staring into space as my body tried to figure out what the fuck we just did
I was there last Summer! The next time I go back! I'm going to make sure I set up my visit that I can stay until Closing! Then I'll see what it's like Riding this and Legend at night! I did it at Kings Island and nothing like it!
Try riding this in the dark. Its pitch black and you don't have a clue where you are going. So much fun!
John Bracher plus during Holiwood nights they turn the trims off.
Ikr it's so litt same with the raven and legend
John Bracher did the same thing loved it
It would be nice, but their hours are so, they're practically never open at night.
I effectively rode it in the dark my first time because I had my eyes shut for practically the whole ride. I remember about 3 seconds of trees, approaching a tunnel that looked like it was going to take my head off, and darkness. I saw more of it from this video than I did while I was actually riding it.

Awareprod has to come to my house tomorrow morning and then I will be home and then I will be home by the time I get home
This was a rather long ride.. l thought that it was ending twice during it's run!
+Michael Baker Yeah man, it's really an excellent coaster. Puts woodies at bigger parks to shame IMO.
+forrest225 this and el toro put most coasters to shame lol
Michael Baker yet it's got a taller lift hill, which means more length and is still much shorter than the beast.
Michael Baker I rode this recently and it was my 3rd roller coaster. loved it though
Exactly, it's huge! Amazing.
This thing seems to speed up on the second half
Finally got a chance to ride this thing. rode it 15 times. its now my all time favorite coaster out of 114
Kyle Gardner i noticed that too !
astrogliding It runs up hill to the back and then down hill from the turnaround back to the station.
ive heard its going 55mph when it goes under the station at the end
They always say, “The trip going home is faster than the trip going to (place)
funny seeing you here
They seriously know how to maintain the speed from beginning to end 😍
el toro + the beast = the voyage
Shivering Timbers (beginning) + GCI (twister section) + Boulder Dash (return run) = Voyage
ThatIntaminGuy went to six flags 3 weeks before going back to holiday world for the summer again and the beast is shit compared to the voyage... the beat is a lot rougher and not as fun
Kalyn Walker I never mentioned beast but OK.
ThatIntaminGuy I'm not hating on the beast just saying... comparing the two
Imagine what RMC could do with the track layout of The Beast.
What a fantastic, unique classic woodie this is! I love the speed, the length, and so many amazing tunnels! It also looks very smooth for a woodie.
It sometimes gives you a headache. It's really bumpy. But the thunderbird is VERY smooth!
+Project EveryThing ikr
FireCracker3240 Not smooth at all. Just my opinion.
FireCracker3240 The metal framing helps a little. It's actually a hybrid.
It’s not really classic, it was built in 2006. And besides, unless it’s a hybrid, woodies are never going to be as smooth as a steel coaster at it’s best.
How many laps did you recorded before having a synchronized crossover with Thunderbird? Don't tell me it happened on the first try!
KingRCT3 OK we won't tell you. ;-)
+KingRCT3 You just have to take a closer look at the video. Towards the end after their ride one person says "could you do 38 times?" This probably means that they road the roller coaster 37 times, since 38 is such a random number
+Jacob Garland: HAHAHA, nice catch. ;)
Or it could be their sense of humor. Hell, even I'll look at whoever I'm riding with that day and say somethin like "Wanna go for 25" etc.
I experienced a crossover with the Thunderbird and holy shit it was amazing
@ 3:07 "This knocks El Toro down to #2"
Well crap I better get to Santa Claus, Indiana ASAP now -- maybe for Holiwood nights one year, El Toro's my #1 woodie & #1 overall as of now.
until you ride lightning rod that thing is a bullet
Yeah, LR is my favorite coaster of both steel and wood lol (havent been to cedar point/carowinds yet)
In other words it's your #1?
LR that ride is incredible el toro voyager second el toro 3
i rode it and loved i also rode the other three legend raven and thunderbird
this is #1 woodie....hands down....how many awards has this garnered for designers....they did a heck of a job....
I rode this today. I was freaking out while in line, mostly because there was a severe thunderstorm warning in Santa Claus. Also because I'm really scared of heights. I rode it and it was AWESOME! Probably the best roller coaster I've ever ridden!
What I love is how it's so long but keeps up the high speed throughout the whole ride.
That's what she said!
I've been on over 100 different rollercoasters around the world, and this is the only one that made me put my hands down. It's fantastic!
I think this was the first time I have sat here and watched the entire ride for the first time all the way through. Wow! What an intense woody! I think this has become my favorite woody just from watching.

Climax would be the right word, I believe.
Even better at night
Bonus near miss element for Thunderbird.
I like how the MCBR is on the ground but somehow it just keeps getting faster.
+CoasterSiaye Best use of terrain ever tbh, just doesn't seem possible for it to gain speed after that MCBR and yet it totally does.
+CoasterSiaye I remember reading somewhere the ground elevation change from the MCBR to the station is about 80 feet, give or take
+CoasterSiaye The triple down after the MCBR is my favorite part. I love the temperature getting colder in three progressive steps as you drop down the enclosure. The fact that it happens after what seems like nearing an end close to level ground makes it very effective.
You can tell the change is up a hill when walking to Thunderbird
After the first drop, you're actually working your way up a hill, the turn-a-round is on top of said hill, then after the Mid-course, you're working your way back down
LOVE THIS RIDE!!! There is hardly a wait around the afternoon so me and my cousin rode this 7 times in a row, same seat in the front! it was incredible
Excellent Video! I am not brave enough to ride roller coasters for real so this is the closest that I can get so that I can indeed enjoy the fun without having to worry about any fears! Excellent job, I loved it!
Digital Gold Pictures I feel the same. You are not alone.
Listening to the sound of the ride car going over the wooden structure was like an ASMR moment while wearing my headphones.
What a coaster.!
Amazing Length and accelerating speed during all the ride... Fantastic
I LOVE how stable the camera is! You can hardly see any shakiness, especially considering it's a wooden coaster!
the drop from the start alone is enough to scare the piss out of you.. then its dark and light dark and light while your twisting with the forces....I was constantly screaming on this one no doubt its a thrill. Def the best wooden roller coaster out there. It has all the feel of the train going off its "tracks" but your on the tracks going with this insane movement.
One of the best wooden roller coasters I’ve ever been on! Excellent ride.
“That was my number one woody”
😂😂😂
Yeah, I caught that, too. LOL.
He rides lots of woodies
He needs to go take a cold shower. Its not someing I would boast about to a comple stranger.
It’s my #1 woodie too
Got to ride this for the first time this past week on my big theme park trip. It is currently my new #1. Wow did it ever live up to everything I've ever heard about it. Rode it 10 times thru the day...was wild in the back.
THANK YOU for recording this however you did
amazingly smooth for a wooden coaster
This coaster never slows down! It’s awesome!
Amazing ride. The double-down (in the dark, no less) is worth the park’s admission on its own. Not to mention the first three vertical drops which quickly teach you the concept of zero gravity.
Wow that is a really impressive wooden coaster!!
About a month ago, Goldstriker became my favorite wooden coaster. I rode The Voyage yesterday and that has now changed.
This coaster goes on forever!! Looks super fun
This takes the out and back woodie design to its limits.
I like how everyone feels like there's no way it can get back from the MCBR but it just keeps picking up speed
Now that roller coaster has a great ride time. Looks like so much fun.
For noise and a jerky ride, wooden coasters are the best. This one was tops!
Wow what a badass wooden roller coaster! 👌
This was so much fun omg. I'm going again Friday and Saturday and I can't wait
This looks like an incredible ride. Looks really fast in the second half. Can't wait to ride.
Now that I have ridden it, I would have to say it is definitely a good ride. Rode it atleast 5 times.
I’ve ridden 110 different roller coasters and this is my number 2
Hands Down my favorite coaster I’ve ever ridden
same best coaster ever it beat out Storm Chaser for number 1 spot cause storm chaser was my old #1
The voyage is an undisputed modern classic.
i went on this ride when a rainstorm was about to hit and the winds were really scary and I honestly thought I was gonna die but then I had fun the entire ride. Honestly the best rollercoaster I've been on

Glad it’s getting some love though, HW is my childhood ❤️
The timing of Thunderbird and Voyage dispatches in this video is IMPECCABLE!!!
This ride looks so awesome!!
It is, the park alone is worth a trip to visit but this coaster is just amazing. It took my top wooden coaster spot after the first ride! Holiday World has a great line up of coasters overall and an awesome water park!
I love that it takes you into a little trees of forest, so beautiful.
Man, I remember when I was like 7, looking at this from one of the water rides and saying, "I will NEVER tide that thing. A few years later, one of my favorite rides in the park. :)

Loving the relentless speed , super awesome
Came to check this out after seeing the music video Sane by Fozzy. they rode this filming the video.
That thing gets moving after the MCBR! Warp speed through the support structure!
for some reason i can't stop watching this
This was my first roller coaster ever, and I gotta say, it was pretty good 👍
All coasters should be as long as this beauty!
this is the best roller coaster ive ever been on. i def recommend it ^^
Definitely looks like a rattler, but what a coaster! Halfway through, I thought, wow, it's still going! Amazing - added to my bucket list.
It really isn't rough.
This was the first coaster I've done and I'm scared of heights! had a blast though...
Greatest woodie ever made. Bar none.
Pretty sure it's "par none"
+stalfos slayer
Haha, I swear I've never heard "par none". I've heard and seen "bar none" hundreds of times.
It's bar none.
I love roller coaster rides 😍
Looks fantastic. Loved the terrain hugging.
Trinity of Woodies is El Toro, the beast and the voyage
This coaster is fast. Am 68yrs old and I want to ride this. Great video. Shalom
Shalom, you should! Remarkable ride.
How this coaster keeps up that pace without boosting is beyond me.
Nice catch with the Thunderbird flyover
I love it because I go every year and I always see people that have never been there and their always scared of some rides and I’m always thinking “oh just wait..they get better”
Looks very nice. Not so many curves but only straight on and on and on. Super!!!
I can feel the airtime just from watching the pov
This ride looks sick! A tall fast and long lasting roller coaster. The only other big epic WOODEN coaster I've been on is the beast at kings island and it was good. I like how it was long and it goes thru the woods like middle of no where but the voyage looks consistantly faster and smoother
Man that triple down looks absolutely sick
Voyage back row at night is the best thing ever
this ride defies the laws of physics, i really dont understand how it keeps going (gets faster even!) definitely on my bucket list.
I rode this thing 5 times in a row in the rain because I’m literally in love with coasters and the rain hurts your skin 😂😂😂
i love wooden coasters!
the first time before I rode this, I watched this video, and I was like “oh it won’t be so bad!”
*lets just say I was shaking after the ride was over*
It was my first legitimate coaster outside of the one at the Indianapolis Zoo. I sat on the gift shop floor for about 15 minutes afterwards, just kind of staring into space as my body tried to figure out what the fuck we just did
Great coaster and great video! I would love to ride it!
Congrats on 1 mil!
That's one helluva coaster...very scenic also.
I was there last Summer! The next time I go back! I'm going to make sure I set up my visit that I can stay until Closing! Then I'll see what it's like Riding this and Legend at night! I did it at Kings Island and nothing like it!
Toni Anthony riding at night is on point!!!
This ride looks awesome!
It is indeed awesome. If you haven't ridden it yet, you're missing out.
Wow! That must be one of the longest coasters in the country!
Riding this 8 times in a row was so fun
Wow this just keeps going. Too bad I’ll probably get to ride it. The Voyage is on my bucketlist. Though Torro is my favorite woodie now.
It’s amazing how much this ride manages to haul after that brake run
I hope to ride this one day! For now, I'll stick with my current favorite, Outlaw Run.
This really looks fun to ride. I wish they would make steel roller coasters that would run this long.
Excellent job on filming this! Great one!
Having lived in Erie my entire life, and growing up with Waldameer (Ravine Flyer II being built by the same group), I definitely see the resemblance
That’s what I call a speed mastered this one is a winner
This is a very long and fast coaster ride. I like.
6 years later, man so much has changed
Why a coasters in us sooooooo smooth. The uk ones break ur bones and give bruises , especially the ultimate in light water valley absolutely brutal
One of my all time favorites period
this ride looks amazing
