Your videos shout self-confidence and competence, that’s why I like you more than other tech-reviewers, even if they may feature fanciers videos. Great job Lisa!
The faux outrage over every single Apple product has just gotten worse and worse the past few years. Like the SSD thing is good consumer knowledge to help me make an informed decision but doesn’t need to be a billion click bait tittles with almost no technical knowledge. Glad to see a grounded and informed reviewer left.
Of course because they all run these entry level computers as if they were intended to do all the high end pro work. Then they start whining, complaining, and act shocked that somehow someway the machine isn't up to the task.

I've watched at least a dozen MBA M2 reviews, and yours is hands down the best. Concise, to the point, most relevant info if you're gonna by this machine.
Haven't caught one of Lisa's reviews in a while, and this reminds me why I enjoy her style so much. No bs, no hyperbole, just straight talking facts. Keep it up!!
Lisa, you are, hands down, the best tech reviewer on UA-cam. Just love your shows. You are so knowledgeable, engaging and informative - without all the bravado and click bait antics of the other reviewers. Thank you!
Another great well-balanced review! Nice to hear that throttling is really over-blown. I truly like the size, weight and other improvements on this new Air. Just picked mine up and it is significantly lighter and easier to hold than my M1 Pro 13".
I love the new M2 air. Keyboard is incredible. The laptop on whole is snappy, well built, no fan noise, stays cool, screen is fantastic. Very lightweight and just overall great value. We put to rest a 2016 MacBook this year, no comparison to the new M2 MBA it’s a great step up. Excellent review!
You mentioned that if you opt for the 67 watt charger, you lose magsafe, but I dont think that is true. I think both chargers are magsafe, just like the larger chargers are for the M1 Pro 14 and 16 inch Macbook Pros are.
Already subbed, take the like, here's a bonus comment for the algorithm, and you're one of literally 2-3 people I actually ring the bell for. I don't like getting a ton of notifications, but your videos are always worth the notification, worth the wait, worth the time. Much love from Croatia, Lisa. Keep up the magnificent work!
Thank you, it has been over 7 years since I bought my last laptop and the market is full of misleading information. Thermal this nan chip that. For a person who is looking for a dependable high end computer you hit all the points I need to know and left out the clickbait filler. All while hinting at since apple formats things more efficiently you might not need extra ram or 108° is not as hot as every small high end windows laptop out there. People over hype the small things and forget that regular people are not making 8k full length films with a MacBook Air. I’m super glad I found your video on this and again appreciate your accurate description and real world review
You are the authority on these videos. I won’t buy anything til I see a review from you. You are relatively unbiased you give your opinion but it’s honest not a paid for by the company opinion. You managed to give us all the specs, comparisons and opinions in 13 minutes. These other guys try to get all fancy and gimmicky which pushes their videos to a half hour. I don’t care enough to watch your blatantly obviously paid for gimmicky “review” for a half hour! Thank you Lisa for being awesome!!!
It always amazes me how Lisa manages to be so calm, sensible, and measured with comprehensive detailed information.....Many thanks to her, and her team.
Lisa, great review as always! In terms of Windows competitors, I think it's fair to also throw in the 14.4" Surface Laptop Studio as a contender, too. It's definitely thicker, but because of it's great thermal management, and stand-off surface from the CPU/GPU, it can give a very similar almost-fanless vibe. Great touchscreen/pen experience, too, and like the other Windows options, it has user-upgradeable SSD (think standard 80mm is supported, even though that's not what ships). 16GB is still a painful jump from the base, though, if you're upgrading SSD separately.
I’ve been watching Lisa for years. An honest trusted source with straight forward facts no hoopla. Simply the best Reviewer and Presenter out there. Thank you
Lisa, it attests to your no-nonsense appeal that in the first seconds of the video you actually held the laptop in your hands like a normal person would. I could actually see how thin it was, unlike other videos with fancy b-roll of it on a desk and not a casual view in your hands where you can notice changes better.
The best UA-cam review of the M2 MBA by far, thank you. I always enjoy your reviews as you tailor them to multiple users, understanding we dont all need 64GB RAM etc.
What is the situation with M wifi issues of lost packages and dysfunctional bluetooth: Was Apple able to identify the causes and solve these issues for the M? I know people found wifi workarounds with manual settings, but I don't pay more than 1000 bucks to "solve problems".
Thanks for the video. Yes the other channels do make a big deal about the throttling. They make it seem as if the thing slows down to a crawl. Your video helped me make a decision.
Excellent review for those of us who just want to know if it is a solid machine to perform everyday tasks. I like all your reviews a lot because I think they provide practical information that better informs buying decisions. Thank you!
Lisa, I watched this video to see if I wanted to get the MacBook Air. I do have the 16 inch M2 Max but wanted something portable when I travel and you were so correct. I was able to teach and do every task for work and teaching.
There’s many exciting and excellent Tech Reviewers and Pundits out there. And I watch and follow many of them. But Lisa is my ‘Go Too’…. She always makes the content accessible for ‘non-tech geeks’ who just want a straight-forward answer about real world use for someone who only uses their tech for MS office productivity, Music & Movie Streaming, WebBrowsing and Social Media. Excellent Work Lisa! Keep it up. 👍🏼
The only video i have seen so far that actually showed the color of the new starlight m2macbook air. Most youtubers here does not show the actual color because of the heavy color grading or their studio light set up.
The Midnight color is 🔥 This M2 MBA is perfect for the casual user, the average user or the light user. 8/256 is more than enough for those users. Heavy users of course would need to take a few steps up or get the Pro instead. 1080p camera, 13.6 size, Touch ID and the speakers support Spatial Audio 👍🏻
More than just light or average users. The baseline M1 Air with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage was handily outperforming far more powerful laptops. This extends the lead further.
So well appreciated that she isn’t click baiting like all these other youtubers and actually provides real insightful information instead of reading meaningless apple marketing terms off of their spec list. I love the actual educational value of the videos along with real world examples. Thank you Lisa for all your hard work and research it really helps us average consumers learn so much.
Do not get the baseline models. I wanted to test Mac and got myself 8gig 256 model. If you're power user you'll regret. I got fooled by reviews that it's enough on Macs, but imo that's total BS. Well maybe it's if you do stuff like Word and just browse. Then again I had 16 gigs or more on my computers since plus ten years ago. But yes. It's absolutely pain to shut down stuff like Fusion360 every single time you're done with it. It really ruins the experience. But yeah, those updated memory model prices 🤮
@@jothain I have a 2013 Macbook Pro--pretty much with the full whistle and bells at the time. It continues to be a great machine but the RAM is inadequate and it hasn't met the requirements for the last two software upgrades. So the time has come to get the M2 Air. Because I plan to run the new air for at least 7 years i chose 1T of storage, 24G RAM, and 10core upgrades. While I know money is tight but in the context of modern life, these machines are cheap--for work, for entertainment, for social interaction, for hobbies, for .....Compare all you get and what we all pay for every day for the automobile (with Insurance, gas, maintenance) and housing (plus utilities, insurance, and maintenance). These computers (laptops, desktops, phone, tablets) are an extension of ourselves. Even with Premium Phone and Laptop (sort of a minimum personal electronic platform) costing you $5,000 over 5 years or $1,000 a year while your car and housing will cost you a minimum of that a month.
Excellent work as always! A small detail, but I'm very happy you're reviewing with the Starlight color! Most everyone else has the Silver and Midnight colors, but Starlight was the color I was looking at!
Have the starlight finish in my iPad mini--looks great. So, ordered the M2 MacBook Air in that finish as well. Glad Apple at least offered to new finishes.
You hit the nail on the head! I think some fall into that line of analysis because its specs are impressive enough to put it into the foothills of the high end machines. Plus it is light and so portable that the high end users would like to have those characteristics as well. Alas, the nature of life is no one is ever really satisfied. Boils down to what suits your needs/wants best!
I think she means that MagSafe will allow you to take advantage of fast charging with the higher wattage charger. Though dave2D mentioned that charging over usb c will allow up to 70 watts input.
@@insainllama still not all clear to me. Does it imply that when you order the super speed charger the MBA will not have MagSafe? I was planning to order 2 chargers one super fast for home use and the lighter for traveling 🤔
I think this was a mistake and easily overlooked. MagSafe is just a USB c charging cable allowing up to 100W of charging (due to USB c standards). There is nothing different about this MagSafe versus the pro version. So just go for the highest watt adapter unless you need the apple dual charger. Though many other brands are smaller, faster, and cheaper versions of the dual chargers (E.g. Anker).
Not since 2010. From 2010 - 2017 and 2020 - 2022, the Air was $999. And before that, the MacBook was $999. Apple just got greedy and now has to deal with higher competition from Windows laptops at this price range, like the HP Pavillion Plus 14.
@@cameronbosch1213 I don't think Apple is getting greedy. Times change. Prices go up. Don't pretend they raised the price without any improvements. C'mon, you really should be fair to Apple and consider why the $200 is there
@@javtimestwo The problem I have with that is that they don't have a cheaper option at all, I get prices go up, but a start at 1200... I'd rather pay more for a pro model, which is exactly what they want you to do. ;)
@@VincentGroenewold But that is the cheapest option so Apple is offering. Prices went up but so did the quality of the laptop. With the M2, 1080P, larger size, speakers supporting Spatial Audio and then the additional color options. Believe me, I wish the price remained at $999 but at least Apple somewhat justified the price increase
@@javtimestwo Well maybe a little greedy; Apple keeps that profit margin right where they want it to be which is the highest of the industry. I am sure. I don't know about everyone else, but I am not just buying Apple products because of generally good overall specs but because of the eco system. I have absolutely no interest in Android (Google) and Microsoft--I prefer a totally integrated software/hardware platform. Apple does what it does that I like. Having said that, competiton is great...select what you want.
Great video as always. You're one of the reviewers whose reviews I trust, irrespective of what views I might have formed before hand! I'm tempted by this, though rumours of a 15"macbook air for 2023...!
New design is nice but it's 50% more expensive than M1 MBA (at least in Europe right now for the same RAM-storage configuration) for nice but not essential improvements. Actually the M1 MBA 256GB has faster RAM which is important as it will use swap memory a lot when paired with 8GB RAM. I don't know. I love the direction towards ARM chips and M1 generation is great but we're getting into truly overpriced territory again with small performance improvements. I wish reviewers are harsher towards Apple.
Absolutely. 256gb is ridiculous regardless whether someone cares or not. It's just plain bad. So we are talking 512gb. Now, 8gb ram is silly in 2022. So 16gb + 512gb will be literally pro 14 territory
@@qwertzuiop875 Ssds slow down as they’re filled, doesn’t even have to be half in some instances, apple would literally pay 10 usd more for us to have more storage, they’re just gotten greedy in the last 3 years. Also shows how they stopped caring about their employees
@@Brian-jv8iy I wouldn't need 512gb. I have now a 512gb device and I only use 101GB of the storage. I'm still very happy with my 2015 Macbook, so most people will be more than happy with the speed and storage of the base MBA. I would like a slower, ultra thin MB with a very low TDP chip in it. I just love how easily my current Macbook disappears in my fully stuffed bag. It's like a magic trick. A current MBA would be because of its size a downgrade for me.

Absolutely. 256gb is ridiculous regardless whether someone cares or not. It's just plain bad. So we are talking 512gb. Now, 8gb ram is silly in 2022. So 16gb + 512gb will be literally pro 14 territory
With cloud storage, I need less than in the past. So 256gb are more than enough for my use case.
Thank you Lisa for an open and honest review. Much appreciated.
Probably the best review of the M2 air I’ve watched. Great work.
I've never met a reviewer with so many complimentary fans. The top comments are always about her and not about the content. It's the strangest thing.
Back in like 2015 if you wanted a good review this was the option, for me anyways. I always considered this like the Consumer Electronics UA-cam channel. Unbiased, you just get what you see nothing more.
@@Errcyco ok. I just sometimes go to the top comments to see what the public feedback is and it’s always about her and not the product.
You're a total pleasure to watch and listen to! Thanks for another great review.
the wedge design just hit DIFFERENT. I kinda miss it already and this laptop has been out for like 1 week.
Another great review, Lisa.
1) shirt is on point as always 2) great review thank you!
Great review, and the only review I need to watch of the M2 MBA
Best review I’ve seen so far 👏
Your reviews are the best Lisa!! 😘
Always love hearing your take on hardware with your more similar usage background 😁
Thanks for the review. Still no touch screen laptops.
Hey Lisa, I’ve been waiting your videos since I wanna say 2013. So glad to see you doing so well. Good luck!
hey can someone tell me what clear case someone could get for this ? 😊 could we use previous models case covers ??😱😱😱
Thank you for being the only realistic tech UA-camr in regard to the M2 MBA! I watched all the reviews and had a really bad feeling buying the new Air but it’s amazing! Coming from an Intel Mac it’s better in every way AND has a faster SSD
You are so wonderful at your reviews. There is so much competition, but you add so much more fun and flavor to your films. I am so happy you reviewed this new MacBook! Cheers Lisa!
Well done! Great review! Question… new Magic Mouse and keyboard or knock off?
I got my wife a m2 air to replace her 2009 imac....I think she may notice a difference when it arrives monday.
I always appreciate your in-depth and honest overview. Very helpful.
