I've been loving playing Magden over the last couple patches. I opt for the Crystallized Slab morph though for a few reasons. You still get the damage shield against projectiles but it also restores a bit of mag for each projectile, which passively reduces the cost by refunding some mag. It launches an attack back that does ice damage and stuns. It's a quadruple benefit from 1 skill. So while the Heroism is nice, there are other sources, even CP if you want to go that route, but I like having that extra damage and ranged stun when dealing with an X situation where you have snipers or MagSorcs spamming you with ranged projectiles. All that said, I run a similar setup using Trial By Fire instead of Wretched. It's a bit overkill on the resistances because I hit around 45k but it's nice having that safety net for being hit with Debuffs and staying above cap. Ice Furnace however is an OG set for Warden that you can't really go wrong with. Even light attacking people will proc it on not just them but others within range. Solid build.
@lianaboykin2556 it's really good man! I have an update for the current patch so look for that. If you use this use a shock staff with ice glyph on it instead of the frost staff. Change from destructive reach to cleanch. Beyond that everything works well. The new changes add more burst though.

It doesn't work vs melee so that is the issue. Also the 40k is per projectile so isn't really that useful basically 3 ranged hits which is skill, light attack then skill so you don't block loads.
i was thinking, try same build with DK, well not 100% same but basically same, i know ur ice set that does flame damage has to be different, but u know what i mean, would be interesting to see if u get as good or better char with DK, pulsar as 1skill if they get 2close + whip to maybe, i think this idea is kind of scary 😆 cause it may out do (or over do or how that say it) this ice warden, try and do video about it
The one thing Im curious about is why Destructive Reach over Destructive Clench? I know Clench reduces damage done by the skill for using ice staff, but between having MAA and the Piercing Cold passive on Warden, the damage reduction is vastly mitigated if not fully nullified. I guess if using the stun from scribed skill it makes sense to a degree, but then you're losing out on Major Maim on targets. I'm not trying at all to say one way is better than the other, just wondering what the specific decision behind this choice was on the build.
The ice reach becomes a spamable but around 0.9x spamable damage. Therefore, the chilled damage brings it up to around 1x - 1.1x spamable damage. Ice clench is around 0.4x spamable damage and so with the chilled bonus you get around 0.5x-0.6x spamable damage. This makes it a huge DPS loss and actually makes it harder to kill. You can get around this if you use it as a buff/imoblize and use another spamable.
@AllThingsFascinate your burst is about timing the 2nd hit with deep fissure, dawnbreaker then your spamable. This is essentially around 40k--45k tool tip burst. That would hit around 18k in pvp reliably. What you may notice more is the lack of an execute and unfortunately this is a magden issue so you need to focus on landing burst around 60% of the targets hp or overwhelming them with northern storm. Also note good players will never die 1v1 regardless of build simply because healing is so strong vs damage.
@@Unified-Gaming 40k tool tip is 20k pvp, so you'd need crazy high pen to actually hit 18k. But yes, having no execute, having to wait for 9 (!) seconds to time a burst, and not having an on-demand stun really makes warden hard to play in pvp. Do you think Ice Furnace is actually doing much for us? I enjoy the set, but often wonder if a bunch of spell damage or a crit set would add more damage overall.
@AllThingsFascinate use dazing soul. That is the on demand stun. Ice furnace procs every second so is one of the highest dps sets. On a dk look at scavaging demise. It hits very hard and is a great burst skill. You can use shattering rock to also force people to get hit by it by stunning them just before they get the proc hit
@tynaannaschmitz3559 it is decent but you don't get the full power unless in melee range as you'd only get the buffs not debuffs to targets. Ddf also increases healing from hp and magicka, stamina so more roll dodge/mobility and magicka thus damage. Both are good options though.
10:07 inner light does the same, difference is, its always on and gives u magica to, doesn't this make inner light better? does it work without mythic? i don't have any
You can do this but you need to front bar inner light which means moving a skill back bar like fetcher infection/shimmering shield. You also lose the passive healing from lotus blossom which is nice or living trellis if you use that. The max magicka also doesn't scale too well simply because our base is so low. 7% of 40k magicka is more than 7% of 20k magicka for example so it isn't really worth it tbh. Cammo hunter maybe worth it though as you get fighter's guild passives boosting our weapon/spell damage which is already high and is further boosted by betty. You also get berserk from the flank + savagery and cammo detect skill. This means you could use deceptive predator morph and get minor evasion. I'd personally suggest trying this if you wanted to drop something passive into the build and I think having the stealth reveal would be helpful too.
i am planning to use the build in a small group but i got a few questions - is ice furnace realy good ? 1000 dmg every second doesnt seem like alot compared to what other sets can offer - had the random idea of using Jerall Mountains Warchief instead of the mythic - combined with the 2 defiles in the build that would be 50% less healing for my enemys ( and playing in a group would propably fix the downside)
@Xologamer jerall applies once per cooldown not per target so in multi person fights you don't get stacks up on the primary target often enough so it isn't good. Jeralls is excellent 1v1s. Thar 1k damage is every second and aoe so hits everyone. Way of fire is around 3k typically every 2 seconds but only 1 target. As such similar damage but aoe and if you swap targets it is easier to use ice furnace. Does it solo pve good?
@@c_m_b_3110 it'd do overland and dungeon content fine 🙂
9:05 never used it on my wardens, waste of mana for 6sec speed, this could be replaced with inner light
i don't have scribing, what is alt stun if i want better heal and go for the better heal morph with polar wind?
also tried dawn barker on 1char, not impressed at all, good for trash moobs though, ice comet would do better damage
arctic blast is other stun
