Also goes the same for Dre, Cypress Hill or Jamiroquai when the 6 string basses come out. Rap can be done, live with FULL band, and it sounds incredible. But this is Jools Holland, it's a televised live set, it'd be studio conditions, complete silence so they concentrate. Remember, the aim of the game is to get it as close as possible to the album recording, but live, they need to be able to focus. It'd be the same as a live set in a studio session, but people are actually allowed in the room. They'd be fucked if they're doing a live set and some loudmouth tries to override them, especially for a TV recording. 😎👍
This set in particular, shows exactly how good they really could be live. They even changed the key midset, twice. Usually have ripped the audio of this & listened to it in the car for the past few years. So tight. Jesus Christ. The only unfortunate bit of this video is the start is partially missing. (and the volume mastering is LOW).
Check out their live performance in Germany, same year 1996. It's on YT. Sound quality is really good. Lauryn Hill sounds phenomenal and even Nas shows up.
