Well. we bought a Defiant and it is heating our home. We love it. I even used it to bake a loaf of bread, entirely without electricity, on the griddle top, just to see if we could. Yes, one can, easily, and the bread is delicious. This is a superbly designed (as well as beautiful) stove.
@@Pierremoustache2009 I've even baked delicious cinnamon rolls on ours recently, in a standard spring pan set on a grill, covered by a canner making, in essence, a dutch stove. It takes longer than in the oven but still turn out beautifully. No power? No problem! This stove can be used in a myriad of ways to heat AND feed a family.
I've lived with wood heat for many years and every time I see one of these videos with a bend in the chimney, it amazes me that people think all they have to do to clean the chimney is stick a brush down to clean it. The chimney brushes do not bend around the corner! The only way to clean that is brush from the roof and then take the chimney apart inside the house where all that soot and creosote has piled up in the bend and try to get as much as possible into a large garbage bag without too much escaping into the home. Good luck with that. Pipes should go straight up even if the firplace has to be moved further out into the room. Which comes first? Safety or looks? Piping like this is a real safety hazzard. All that creosote in the bend can cause a drastic house fire.
I have my installation checked and at the same time the maintenance is carried out. All the nozzles are dismantled and it does not generate too much dust. So sincerely I do not see where the problem lies with an installation like mine !!!!
We've had our stove for five years now; and he's aging well. A few cracks in the enamel, but nothing serious. And the glass is not as transparent as on the first day but it's still very correct ...
@@Pierremoustache2009 For the reason you mention (cracks in enamel) we're leaning towards the less-attractive but more utilitarian standard cast finish. Our 1st choice was the Majolica brown but... a stove has more to do than look nice. Now that you've had your stove 5 years how does it do keeping a fire all night and how often do you find yourself emptying the ash pan? Thank you ~
@@mic982 We empty the ashtray every morning; if not, it will overflow the following days and it is not ready. To make it brood at night; all you have to do is put a large log in it and close the air draft. Early morning ; the ashes will still be very red; and putting wood back on it; the stove restarts without problem.
@@Pierremoustache2009 Just one more question, if I may? Do you let the fire die out before cleaning the ash pan or do you clean it with the embers still in the firebox (so you can restart the fire)?

Bonsoir Julie. Je suis très satisfait du poêle . Il consomme vraiment pas beaucoup par rapport à mon ancien poêle. J'ai terminé l'hiver avec encore beaucoup de bois dans ma réserve. Et pour ce qui est de la cuisson ; c'est un vrai plaisir de laisser mijoter un plat dessus. Soupe ; carbonades ; poule au pot etc… Et après un an d'utilisation ; quelques fois les plats ont débordés ; mais ensuite la plaque se lave très bien avec une éponge un peu abrasive. Mon fils va commander un poêle pour cher lui aussi ; mais le modèle en dessous. Si vous avez le budget ; c'est un très bon achat…. Pierre.

C'est mon premier poêle équipé d'un catalyseur, comment gérez-vous l'utilisation avec et sans passage des fumées par le catalyseur ? Par exemple pour la nuit laissez-vous le poêle en fonctionnement catalytique ? Pas de début de refoulement lorsque le régime de fonctionnement devient trop faible ? Salut Daniel. Je charge jamais mon poêle pour la nuit, il y a toujours un risque de CO2 que je ne voudrais pas. Je suis toujours satisfait de mon achat. Et comme on va vers l'hiver, on va profiter des plats mijoté. Pour la gestion des fumées, chaque demeures est différentes. Et donc ma gestion ne correspondra certainement pas à la tienne. Must be just about your first fire in the stove - it looks all new inside with little evidence of burn. Very nice stove, btw.
