I love it... "This is supposed to be my sanity.... It's not going so well yet." 😆 You've got to love a Kamp Kenan Video. Charlie's place is just beautiful ♡
@@charlie_moorcroft your place is beautiful. Thank you for loving turtles enough to dedicate your love time space and money too. We need more people like you in this world. Absolutely amazing!!!
I won’t speak for anyone else but since Matt came aboard the videos are 10x better in my opinion. And I love his enthusiasm on seeing things for the first time as most of us are also seeing it for 1st time. I for one am enjoying having Matt on board helping w the filming. But also your videos have more aesthetics (not good analogy… but it works) than before!!!!!!! So I love that Matt’s come aboard on the kamp kenan journey!!!!!
Yo #KenanHarkin I love the new and dope fresh introduction to your video today! #ouranimallifeissimple #conservationinaction #educationinaction #thisiskampkenan #animalsareourfriendsandfamily
Charlie is such a nice guy, and I love the thoughtful ways he keeps his animals. I was also really impressed with the hydroponics, great idea. Thank you Kenan, Charlie and Matt, it was a pleasure.
Perfect setup for an albino snapper! They need good sun cover as their eyes and skin is way more sensitive to sunlight than a normal snapper would be. So having all that plants in there is just great for them, love it!
Thank You, Charlie. I especially liked your system of raising fish, and then using that Nitrogen-rich water to fertilize the plants in the next habitat ! Scaled up, this can indeed help to make individuals or small groups more food secure with protein and vegetables.
Thanks for the revisit at Charlie’s place! Good to see he’s not just a hobbyist but also a conservation and rescue dedicated guy who wisely puts his resources where they will do the most good.. Hilarious video by the way! You might have add parental advisory 😂
Gotta love a Kamp field trip, especially to such a rad place! Beautiful habitats, gorgeous animals (especially that chunky monkey of an albino snapper!) and Charlie is such a knowledgeable keeper! You, sir, are so laid back-I can definitely tell you are a horsemaster!
@@KampKenan The four subspecies of painted turtle are; Eastern; _(Chrysemys picta picta),_ Midland; _(Chrysemys picta marginata),_ Western; _(Chrysemys picta bellii)_ Southern; _(Chrysemys dorsalis_ I’ve also seen Eastern Painted turtles walking slowly along the bottom of shallow ponds as a kid in Suffolk County, LI (your old neighborhood.) There is enough oxygen exchange to sustain them throughout their winter dormancy.
Absolutely loved the tour! The love you put into giving your animals a happy, healthy home is evident . Even the way you handle them, as if they are babies. God Bless you! Thank you so much for sharing your friends with us, Kenan. They are an eclectic bunch. 😆
Hi Kenan Mr. Moorecroft has a wonderful collection of tortoises, and turtles. I though that you were going to fall in catching that baby painted turtle. First time view of a male turtle private part😅His habitats are awesome. Everyone loved Fred. He is so creative. The filtration system was interesting. His albino snapping turtles were beautiful. The female was huge. Always learn something new in your videos. The baby spotted turtle was cute. Those Cavy were so large, and friendly. ❤🐊🦎🐍🐢Cindy
I know that turtles and tortoises don't have much expression in their faces (this is where Guapo has them beat!) but I look at that little spotted turtle @23:47 and I see a "Garfield face." Oh, they're (turtles in general) REALLY impressed with people! 🤨 Definitely not seeing the joy or happiness Guapo the lizard expresses interacting with trusted humans! The Galaps, OTOH, always seem like they want to take a chunk out of Kenan just to see how human meat tastes! With those beady eyes and neutral faces, the large tortoises are the closest of the earth walkers to looking like they tolerate the presence of humans at least. Not all the shellbacks can be like Otis in New Jersey! Otis is one in a billion!
Charlie is a lucky man to have such an amazing “back yard”! One, I can see he has worked very hard on. This is an absolutely dream back yard for me, although if I am ever lucky enough to have something like this someday, I would definitely want a few more mammals in my version!! In my perfect future home. Ever single enclosure that Charlie has shown us is better than some zoos I have seen. I am so appreciative of Kenan, that he brings us along to see all of his friends homes, back yards and animals, which they clearly love and take care of the way they should be, when in captivity, as far as I can see.
Charlie is a very interesting man. I like his personality. His mimick when you lost your phone in the pond. 😂 And those maras I adore them. You call them guineapigs we call them cavia, the more correct name. And I had lots of them when I was a kid. And I knew the maras too. Even they aren't common where I live. I am so happy charlie has 2. They are such an interesting species and I would love a Koppel of them in my garden... ❤
the dedication kennen had to show us that beautifull species is absolutly hillarious, when the iphone went you could see the switch, "im getting that ****** turtle now". absolutely cracked me up
Man, always enjoy the videos at Charles’ place. Thanks for sharing this one with us, that one cherry head is a screamer! Looking forward to the next one.
I’m such a big fan of this channel! I love when you go out and visit with other collectors. This one was one of the best! I love all the snapping turtles! Absolutely beautiful! I love the knowledge you provide us with. Thanks for sharing
Kenan Kenan Kenan as always thanks so much for sharing I really enjoyed this video Those enclosures are Amazing Beautiful turtles and tortoises I really love when you visit your other reptile families 🥰
His sets ups/enclosures are awesome from a security, visual & functional standpoint! Really awesome when you see someone who really thought out everything that goes into keeping different species of turtles and tortoises! More people should take notes & follow his way of doing things. Crocodile Kyle & his brother have a few different species of albino turtles , the common snapping turtle being one of them as well!
@@charlie_moorcroft you're welcome! Living in CT myself I'd love to be able to keep my animals outside year round but the weather/seasons don't allow it. More people should really take note & consider everything that goes into properly keeping animals, reptiles, amphibians etc & be able to provide the type of enclosures like you do! Much respect & really like your set ups!
I live in New York State. I have had indoor turtles and tortoises that were local to my region most of my life until I was in my 40s. Not a lot. Often one or two painted turtles, the occasional Mud Turtle, and a couple box turtles when I was a kid in the 70s. It has been about 16 years since my last turtle, until now. I currently own two Red Footed Tortoises. I got them in August of last year. At that time they were 46 grams and 28 grams each. My first degree was in Vertebrate Zoology. I love your videos as well as Garden State Reptiles (my original home state) and Dav Kaufman, and a few others. You all have taught me a lot. As I have stated my two were small when I got them. Today they are 196 grams and 174 grams respectively. My question is, how long until they reach adult-ish size. They are growing faster than I thought they would. I keep them mostly indoors, as where I live is colder than they would handle for most of the year. I will be putting in a 7X3X3 enclosure for them in my home soon. Keep up the good work. Love your enclosures and all the people you visit. Thank you for the education.
Great enclosures! Beautiful scaping all over! I’m in c Fl and can’t keep the hyacinths in my pond, yet I see them in lakes and ponds and rivers everywhere around me! Love the aquaponics system there at the end too. Those are some big Guinea pigs!
Well the roads here in west wales are like sheet ice so no going out. But the captain was on an adventure so I joined him and really enjoyed this episode on the big screen 🛻🚴💨 🦖 🐢🖖
I use to catch western painted turtles in a mucky swamp in Minnesota along with skink's under wood behind a factory which is weird because I lived in Illinois and never saw a lizard
Gotta love it! MCF is an incredible place. Also glad you were able to see the pond we put together last summer. 😎
