I think one of the main things is to know that resin will shrink when it cures so you need to have enough there and enough extra that allows for that shrinkage so it won't break. You can also take a glue dot and mold it around the exposed wire to protect it. You can also coat it in uv resin and cure too that will also help protect it. I made snowflakes last year and still have one I kept and lights still worked this year. I think biggest thing is give the wires room to move when resin shrinks.
