  • Up until now Sonoff switches had relays to control lamps, fans, motors directly, this is a first time we get just a switch which can control other Sonoff devices via scenes: like turning multiple lights on/off. Battery operated, can be placed anywhere.

    hey, once this is connected through M5 gateway, does this support scenes for all the devices, on the eWe Link App, even for all the old Retro 1st gen sonoff smart switches?

    I hope it gets an ESPHome integration through the M5 or other Bluetooth device.

    Interesting device, but would like to know the exact protocol it's using

    • @thisfeatureisbad
      @thisfeatureisbad 2 роки тому +1

      I think it's Bluetooth as it's low power for double button cell batteries. That's why it's a sub device as the M5 acts as a server.

      @@thisfeatureisbad that would be great news for tinkerers since we could use an esp32 as a gateway!

    Hello, thank you for the video. Can the R5 communicate with the RFR2 and RFR3 (433 mhz) also or does it only communicate with zigbee receviers and gateways?
    I want to install 10 individual light bulbs and control them individually (on/off) wirelessly (no wires from the switch to the lights). I have line power from the breaker panel available for the lights and the switch. I do not have internet/wifi in my shop (steel building).
    Thank you!

      I suspect that the R5 uses 433Mhz, but actually I am not sure, it is not mentioned anywhere. And also it is mentioned that it works specifically with NSPanel Pro, M5, but not the RF Bridge. So I suggest using it with these products.

    @csongorvarga Hi, how about the battery life? I bought R5 and it last like 5 days on original batteries. I've changed to new batteries and again, after few days, with small usage, like 50 clicks in the log, the battery is gone. Is it expected? Or my R5 is not working properly?

    • @csongorvarga
      @csongorvarga  Рік тому

      Yes, this is not normal. The battery should last a year under normal use.

    hello, does it have light indicator, can light work always so I know if scene is active or not. I need it for alarm / motion sensor, door sensor and siren. Do you have something to recommend for best solution for alarm. Thanks

    • @csongorvarga
      @csongorvarga  4 місяці тому

      No, nothing at all. This is battery operation, so no lights or anything like that. Also, scenes typically execute and complete, it has not state. What I can recommend that if you execute a scene that let's triggers on motion, within the scene you also turn on a Sonoff device which has a small light connected to it. And turn it off in another scene. There is no better option for it in my opinion.

    I've Sonoff 4ch device. Do I need M5 necessarily pair with R5?

    • @csongorvarga
      @csongorvarga  7 місяців тому

      There are only certain devices that R5 connect to. 4CH is not one of them. You need an M5 or other compatible device.

    Szia.
    Ha jól értem egy átjáró is kell hozzá?

      @csongorvarga  6 місяців тому +1

      Igen, de itt az átjáró egy másik Sonoff eszköz. Mint pl. a NSPanel Pro, M5 illetve olyan 4-5 egyéb típus egyike.

      I never used this before, but you go into the menu of the Dual R3 and select sub-devices (or something similar), and you can add it there.
