      I left Sihanoukville yesterday. I was only scheduled to be there for two days and I'm now spending a few days in Phnom Penh.
      I really enjoyed my time in Sihanoukville but the weather was really wet. I know it's the rainy season now, but I got drenched. Haha. I'll go back when the weather is nicer to visit the beaches and the islands. It was definitely a nicer place than I had imagined.
      I only arrived in Phnom Penh yesterday afternoon, but so far I'm loving it. It's a much different feel than Siem Reap and I can't wait to explore it the next few days. I have a ton of videos coming up from the trip. I have 8 completed already. I've been busy haha.

      I agree. Now I just need to have a bunch of friends all over SE Asia that I can bump into and visit while I'm travelling around. I've started making friends here, so it will just take a little time.

    Agreed Sean.. mental health is huge and a positive mind can help but nothing can stop that brain of ours from overthinking and thinking about the worst scenario. Having people around helps immensely and keeping mini goals even if its travel goals helps too.

    • @FrugalWanderer
      @FrugalWanderer  3 місяці тому +1

      We are always our own worst critic and enemy. It can take the smallest thing sometimes to make it all fall apart. I agree that small goals helps a lot. That is why I always set them for myself. If I need a push, I do it daily. If I am just needing to maintain, then I set weekly ones. I am still doing daily ones at the moment, but that is beause I am travelling and trying to make as much content as I can while I am travelling.

    Hi Shawn. Your videos have influenced my decision to leave America , not that I needed a reason but I definitely needed a place . And I am going to be moving to Seim Reap in October hopefully. I still have to sell my life. But I am so stoked. I can’t retire here, but there I can. And you have sold me big time. Can’t wait to run into you. So Stoked. Thanks Shawn.

      @FrugalWanderer  3 місяці тому

      Wow. That's amazing. I'm glad that you've been able to see something in Siem Reap that speaks to you the way it did for me.
      It's definitely doable to retire here and live a much better life with the savings you have or the money you get for retirement. Your dollar goes a lot further here for sure plus the extra benefit is that it will also help change the lives of the locals here to have the extra income trickle into the community.
      Let me know when you get here so we can grab a coffee together and if you have any questions before you get here, feel free to ask. There is definitely growing expat community here and lots of folks to meet that are here to live a better life in their retirement in a place where their dollar matters. Safe travels.

      My mental health routine is working well for me so far. I have met a few locals but you are correct. It takes some time.for them to open up.
      I'm trying to learn a little of the language, but I've always had a difficult time learning new languages. I'm really good at mimicking the pronunciation but I have a hard time getting the words to form in my head. It will take time and I figure after a year or so, I will be in a much better place to be able to communicate with the locals in their language better than I do now.

    Sean, I looked into a Cambodian Retirement Visa. It's simpler than some other countries but it's a bit confusing to me. I'm not aware of what type you got but before leaving the country make sure that your visa allows multiple entries. I believe that one type becomes void should you leave the Kingdom.

    • @FrugalWanderer
      @FrugalWanderer  3 місяці тому

      I received the retirement visa and it is multiple entry. I made sure of this when I applied for it. I believe that any of the extended visas that are more than 6 months have this by default. Never a bad thing to double check with your agency when you apply though.

    • @FrugalWanderer
      @FrugalWanderer  3 місяці тому +3

      The last I checked, Canadians do not have access to a visa on arrival in Vietnam. We need to have it before we get there. It's no big deal. The travel agencies here can process a 1 month visa in advance for me. I'm not stressing about it at all. Haha. If it takes a while to get the visa, that's fine with me. I'm more than happy to just spend time in Siem Reap until it's done. Haha
