07:33 Summary
I've been watching "how to mix properly" videos for about two weeks on YT. This is the first one showing an example visually and acoustically . Guys from PML - great work, thanks for sharing these useful advices withul us.
PS Yanek Maunz is an amazing producer, he understands sound engineering better than the majority of self called EDM tutors on the web. Just check his amazing productions.
🙌
This is one of the best explanations on how to mix that I've seen, awesome job!
Saturation, soft clipping and limiting are keys to get your mix loud and more full. Sounds selection with correct SFX in the correct frequency ranges also play a huge role so no masking or doubling of frequency’s occur I find. Also resonant spikes can play a role in clipping your limiter especially synths and pianos I find. Thanks for the advice some gold in here🔥🔥🔥
You should do a mixing and mastering course if you find the time. Very well explained. Thanks!
Amazing tutorial, thanks Yannek! I'd honestly love to see your approach on how you create some of your Diva patches :)
🙌🔥
The knowledge about saturation is just incredible!!! Thanks for that
nice to see more and more videos on how to control peaks and levels on each channel instead of catching those on the master! This really helps to improve the mix and the understanding how sounds sum up over channels and groups.
True that! This guy is such a blast!!
This is an excellent video. Great job with the explanation and demonstration.
Yes to all of the above. Nice summary of compression Keep the videos coming. I've got the Collector's Everything Bundle and looking forward to updates. Diva patches are welcome. Don't stop 💝
I do similar thing with softclipper (Gclip in my case). It shaves all peaks and allows me to push more gain without getting over 0 db
Oh, now THAT'S helpful! Great job
Best explanation on how to get nominal levels and loudness optimzed. Thanks
wow this was super helpful, thank you so much❤
Great video! More mixing tips pls and also Diva patches 🔥🙏❤️❤️
Nice video and example with the plant in a glass to explain peak level and it’s influence. Love your tutorials. Go on and yes, please do a sound design video for Diva 😊
Nice tutorial! Please do a video on how to level and mix hihats.
Omg what a concept!!
Very helpful video thanks 👌🏼
very useful tutorial 💥 👊🏻
cool yannek !!!!! very usefull !!!
Wow, a really important lesson, more like this!!
Thank you Its very useful 🤩
Great Tip!
Thank You Mate.
Great tutorial. 👌
Thats Dynamik controll ❤
first - thank you so much for this! 💯
Amazing content
Richtig gut erklärt vielen Dank
So good
Video on patches yes!
thx!!
Please do a tutorial of you making those sounds in Diva as well as going in depth of how all the different parameters work inside Diva:))
nice bro
Yo great vid. Would be ideal to show with a free dope plugin like Youlean Loudness Meter. Also Lufs vs RMS
Super useful tips! Do you already have a course where this is explained more detailed for more sound elements?
not yet!
I can seem to get the same effect when I tried it. Is the Limiter directly on the track or it’s on the master?
try same but i couldnt do kick part .
What about the 0.1ms of attack on the sampler ?
What are good free or cheaper plugins to see RMS and peak lvls? Instead of Fabfilter Pro L2?
In Theory Abletons Compressor should show me RMS and Peak lvls, but they are exactly the same? whereas with mvmeter2 the peak is -10 and RMS is -20
Merci pour le tuto mon anglais est très mauvais et je n'ai pas tout compris mais Merci :o)
Sorry, but in the kick technique why you didnt use the output gain of saturator instead of the utility gain??
Would love to see this with a stock plugin
those were Ableton's stock plugin, maybe you meant nonstock plugins or stock plugins for your particular daw, which you should indicate incase he would make a video for you...
@@Jahk-mode876 he meant instead of Fabfilter Pro L a stock plugin
So how would one do this in day Bitwig? Any tips on non Ableton saturators?
*say
Working just the same way. And you can control this with the technique I've explained. :)
Is there a saturator you would recommend? Bitwig does have a saturator but it is definitely different from Ableton. I have Ableton lite so I can compare the two. Trying to recreate what Ableton’s saturator does is not easy. I love PML’s videos and products.
Great video! But I am missing a word about clippers for this theme...
yes legit point! I tried to use as less external VST's as possible - that's why no clippers :)
You can select different Clipping Curves inside Abletons Saturator. Standard Setting is Analog, then there is Soft, and also Digital for Hardclipping.
thanks for the video. trying it out JUST the way you described it, butt when i apply saturator to the kick- NOTHING changes in the limiter picture. it literally doesnt change a thing. i tried with different kicks (maybe somthing was wrong with the sample) - 0 change. please advise
hey please advise, waiting fro your reply@@yannekmaunz
No longer shall I let UA-camrs explain, no matter how many times they ask me.
Or CTZ
Yes. CTZ is sick!
This video is a mind-blower. Thanks so much, @francoispml. 😍 Edit: It was driving me crazy to figure out why the kick was hitting 0db when your "simpler" was at default on -12db... later I saw video cuts zoom in with the volume set to 0 on simpler...
