Him and the other Jamaican male artist you covered on this channel have similar backstories chile, with the controversy and legal problems.
Champion Remix by Buju Banton is a still classic
Paid Not Played by Buju Banton is still a timeless cookout classic
“Bogle” and “Champion” are my joints!
I remember when “Boom Bye Bye” first caused an uproar.
Seventeen children??!! Wow!
I remember hearing “Boom Bye, Bye” as kid and I was jamming to it. Then, as an adult, my West Indian co-workers told me the true meaning of the song. My brain almost exploded 😂
Real talk: What did you think "batty bwoy" meant? 'Cause by the time I heard it as a kid, I'd already learned that term...
The funny thing is today kids are being converted BATTY I mean Biden signed a bill giving teachers the right to choose a child’s gender. They have closets in school where kids can dress up as the opposite sex. Moral of the story seeds spread to grow. If man on man and woman on woman where are the ppl gonna come from🤔
As a daughter of a Jamaican man, I have no idea why it's acceptable for them to have so many children. They also favor sons over their daughters, at least that was true for my Jamaican father. He literally ruined my mother's life, as he was married to another woman when my brother and I were conceived. I literally have a hood twin.
As an American man of Haitian descent, I can tell you that Haitian men be on the same BS. I have at least 10 or more siblings, from several different women, in about 4 different countries. Trust me when I tell you, I don't understand why they feel it's acceptable either. Luckily, my mother divorced him before he could do any real damage to her life.
@@HatianHurricane 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 that's for your mother, smart woman. My father's wife never divorced him, and my mother never had a functional relationship thereafter. My brother and I actually lived with my father, his wife and 2 kids, (one the exact same age as me) throughout grade school, for the better schooling system. We were treated so poorly by the wife. She refused to take up her frustration with her cheating husband, but instead took it out on us, the kids. Till this day, after I graduated high school I've never been back to that house. And every year I get a new message on facebook from someone from Jamaica saying how he's their father too. All women.
I’m Black American and I feel the same. My kids and my siblings are the same ages 😑
I had no idea of his back story. When I was in college he was one of my favorite artist 🙈🙉🙊
Buju is an icon in reggae music no doubt... but he has demons he still hasn't dealt with... I pray he gets the help he needs and that healing.. True healing take place.
Sn/ that nick cannon pic made me holler out loud 😂😂😂
Dope video as always 🖤
Boom Bye Bye was literally a shots fired track. If you thought it was controversial then imagine it being made today, Twitter users heads would EXPLODE.....
whilst completely ignoring all the songs made glorifying murder of black men & doing horrible things to black women
@@Lando-kx6so exactly that's why I have no problem playing boom bye bye if I can listen to songs made by black people talking about killing each other why not this song
Buju Banton definitely deserves his flowers while he's still here
Why would u give cokehead flowers , he dissapoint rastafari by taking coke
NOT THE NICK CANNON GIF! 🤣🤣 I wish these guys who get caught selling (or trying to sell) drugs would stop saying it's some "conspiracy" against them. You made your bed, now lay in it. How can you be a Rastafari, which promotes clean body and mind, but push that mess onto other people, your own kind? SMH also, too much pickney! You can't possibly be there sufficiently for 10+ children. Fortunately, my father only has three. 🙏🏽
Excellent points! Saw his concert in JM Just had some locals tell me he was set up!
Loveeee Buju...Til Shiloh and Inna Heights are theeee best regaae albums ever! Inna Heights was huge and remains huge in the Caribbean.
I was 17 in 92 when boom bye bye came out..brings back memories.
Great video…Buju is and will always be a reggae legend. One of the greatest
I can’t say enough how much I love this channel you guys are so through and you highlight people that were in the mainstream and people who were adjacent to the mainstream I just love this channel 💜
A story on reggae Mega Banton would be very interesting
During the early to mid 90's, I was in my late teens to early 20's. I was growing up in Crown Heights BK. Buju might as well have been a God in BK. During this era, there used to be what was known as sound clashes. This is one DJ set battling another DJ set. One of the biggest sets in Brooklyn was known as "Earth Ruler". One year on Union Street between Troy Ave and Albany Ave, Earth Ruler was DJ at our annual block party. To everyone's shock, because they did it so covertly, Buju just grab the mike in a ninja type fashion because no one knew he was there. Now, there was something we called legal shots where you would be shooting your guns in the air. When Buju grab that mike and everyone realized who it was, no less than about 30 guns went off but they were all legal shots and no one was shot. The party went on without incident. However, that was the last time that block got a permit for a block party!!!
Brooklyn boring now and give me anxiety. 90’s and dancehall culture was the best. Dancehall artist showed up for everything. My aunt had some dope house parties in Albany PJs.
@@fatimagreen1055 I went to IS 390. Right across the street from 1191 in Albany PJ's. I went to school with a lot of dudes from Albany. Some I was cool with, some I wasn't. Those were the days though. You just brought back memories sis.
You just took me back to my childhood with this artist. Champion was my jam. 😂 Can you do a video on Super Cat?
@@blasianluvschocolate397 there is a video about Shabba Ranks on this channel already😊
What is it with all of the children? Then to abuse them?
If you think his child count is bad, imagine Ninja man. The number is probably 50 now. 😳
Buju is definitely in my top 5 favorite Dancehall Artists. That man is a legend. 👑👌🏾🔥
As a Person with a west indian(Guyana) parent buju is big ups meaning praised for his music etc. Girl Dem flex , wannabe loved
BUJU never understood a doggone thing he said nor any of his lyrics but he was my favorite reggae artist
Untold story is one of my favorites
Very interesting story about Buju.
I was always in love with him and i said i was going to marry him since i was 12 years old. Of course that didn't happen, but my husband looks just like him. My mother told me that God always gives us the desire of our hearts lol
Love these stories
Rastafari quedamawi give thx for this channel and narrator's voice sweet and on point 😘
Willy don’t be silly had me cracking up I don’t know why.
Do lil vicious or keke Wyatt
Really enjoying these videos, thank you. Curious to know what happened to A Lighter Shade of Brown.
The thumbs up from prolific baby daddy Nick Cannon took me out. 😂
I remember when Boom bye bye came out and the good folk from the community use to dance to it at concert breaks 🤦🏾♀️ I’m guessing they didn’t understand the meaning until a little later.
Do a video on the 69 Boyz tootsie roll
What happened to Sanchez?
Buju just did a song with DJ Khaled with other fellow popular Jamaicans
Buju songs inspired I whilst growing up in the nineties
🖤🖤🖤 yeah man!!
Can you please do the gospel group Ramiyah next ??🥺🤲🏾
can you do BOKEEM WOODBINE
I found him hypocrite when he wanted to talk shit about Shansea’s explicit music video while he himself and his fellow Jamaican male artists mostly sing about pum pums and violence, it’s like they’re allow to do it, but when a woman does it, they’re the same one bashing them
👏🏾 Thank-you. It’s my culture but I find the culture is seeped in biblical based sexism.
Thankfully, it’s also culture of courageous women who will ignore those idiots and do what they wanna do any way!
This sounds like the male rappers criticizing female rappers that talk about sex even though these same dudes can talk about pussy drugs and guns. Some of these men are hypocritical
@@chantelforrester8325these women are Without value. They include entertainment with nudity and feminism. Marcia Griffith, Whitney , Dion , Katherine Hepburn all reached the apex of their different craft without taking off their clothes. Look at what these artist are creating and ask yourself would you like to see child or by products of these artists taking care of you. They lack value and class If
your content is good, no need to inoculate the environment with class less behavior. Dennis brown reached the heights of music without dressing like a bomb.
I clicked on this video so fast

Bigup to the great icon buju banton
Buju ❤💛💚🖤
Buju banton is a true jamaican musical legend
That prison sentence ended Nuku’alofa career. He needed rap producers to TRY to make a comeback. Very sad but I still love his music. But not the new stuff, just the good stuff.
I love dancehall don't know what they saying but I be rocking
The is video is ridiculous. Buju is still one of the most respected and welcomed reggae artist and consistently releases music.

Tell where did he go wrong ,
I thing he did enough
Rastafarian is not movement it’s religion
Just saw him live! From what I heard from locals in Jamaica, many think Buju was set up!
But I mean the guy was in a factory tasting coke???
I was in jail with this guy in Clearwater Florida.
Is he considered dancehall or reggae? I would say the former
Busy signal also caught with 5kg and using a fake passport for years and only got 6 months prison???
This fuckin guy…
Jamaicans 🤦
So Buju doesn't accept the evidence that he was selling cocaine? Ok....
WHO HE, WHO DAT 🤔
First

I love Buju songs just don’t like some of his views
Sounds like a pretty crappy guy. Irresponsible father, hateful lyrics, drug dealing. It’s a lot
Buju Banton's Til Shiloh album is a classic!!
Indeed it is! 👌🏾🔥
