The way I see it the people that are perpetually offended are living the "trump fantasy". In that fantasy they are the righteous few that are standing up to oppression, sexism, harassment, bigotry and every other buzz word you can think of. But this fantasy can't work unless the issues are real so they are making them real. And anyone that is not on the same page is some sort of "ist". I'd feel sorry for these people if they had not destroyed the majority of my hobbies (Star Wars, comics and so on). What these people need is to be shown a down to earth WWII documentary to show them exactly how much of first world non-issues the things they are "offended" about are. And the only way out of this I see is to just STOP supporting anything that bows down to people that don't buy it or are even interested in it. I can;t remember the last Marvel comic I bought but I did buy EVS's Cyberfrog. I for one have had enough. My wallet is allergic to bullshit.
Just saw the movie. It was excellent. I agree with the video that while the cartels were shown harshly, reality is far, far worse. Sadly, Mexicans get slaughtered by the 10's of thousands, and with many politicians and journalists promoting illegal immigration and human smuggling, the death toll keeps rising as cartels war with one other for the best smuggling routes and leverage. Anyway, the movie was classic Rambo, so if that is up your alley, you'll enjoy it.
Stallone did the same with Rambo 4; took a horrific thing that is going unnoticed by most of the "civilised" world and shows them what's happening. He even said during the Rambo 4 publicity that he couldn't show a fraction of the horrific things being done there. It's nothing to do with spreading political messages, its highlighting the sickening stuff this world is capable of.

Listen to him from 7:50 he speaks almost poetically in the accountability of this channel and is exactly how we all should be. Accountable towards what we are doing which is celebrating media in all its form.
You make an excellent series of points. It’s not a great film by any stretch, but reviewer bias is obvious. Unless it supports the illiberal agenda or lgbt agenda , it’s just derided.
One of the best takes I’ve seen regarding the issue of critics putting politics ahead of objectivity when it comes to reviewing a movie. Well done André.
Fantastic work cutting through the "BS" Andre! Your work on both Midnight's Edge channels is exemplary, and your team deserves all the success and recognition in the world! Please keep your valued insights coming. I really appreciate you and your team's efforts on these channels and look forward to each of your videos. Well done from Australia!
Do you guys remember how everyone was making fun of DC fans when they were denouncing the bias and colluded attitude of movie critics? How does it feel to be the "toxic" fanbase now?
Will never pay attention to Rotten Garbage and the big critics anymore. They are all political now. Only places I go to for review now are Midnight Edge, Geeks & Gamers, Doomcock, and others with similar channels. I feel these channels have similar views on films and are unbiased. Rambo Last Blood was very good. This has nothing to do with Trump or bashing mexicans. It addresses sex trafficking which is a big problem.
I am from Sinaloa, and I can tell you it will be impossible to convey in a movie how evil and sadistic the cartel really are. Here videos of cartel members being skinned alive, disembowled, chopped into pieces are common. I have seen beheaded bodies in the street and know people who have been killed by them. So yes they are incredible evil.
On your comment that the villains in "John Wick" and "Taken" were allowed to be bad - they were probably given that allowance because they were white. Villains of Color are a different matter.
This is the first I'm hearing about 10 minutes being cut from the film. When I left the Theater to see it on thursday 1 of my 2 main thoughts was "It felt like it needed 10-15 minutes some where."
What I find funny is half the audience were Spanish in the theater I went to. My friend being one of them. She had no problems with the cartels being villains. She only had issue with the story and editing shots as I did. Not a bad film but not a masterpiece.
Someone on here said that the extended Rambo 5 actually had edits to the death scenes at the end, particularly the last fatality. I'd love to see that cut intro, but I dont want my bluray version to be edited elsewhere.
Rotten Tomatoes used to be my 'go to' site for movie reviews, but I haven’t been there in over a year now. The site has completely ruined its credibility.
I agree with your video. I am Mexican-American and not offended by the movie or subject matter. Ironically I went to a movie theater and only 1 Afro-American was in the audience and the rest of the audience was Hispanic or Latino. Not a one left the theater upset or offended only commented how much they enjoyed the movie.
I loved the movie. I'm not American and don't live in the US. This movie was made by Stallone this way because he loves the character as much as fans of the franchise. The franchise itself is almost as old as I am, so it's been a part of my life since I saw the first one at a young age on video. Due to that, for me, it's a love letter conclusion to a character whose fans have watched his story from the beginning.
A part of me is glad that Roger Ebert isn't around anymore. He'd be disgusted by this era of Critics giving dishonest opinions on films just for politic bias or to save face.
I stopped going to movies when they first come out. I wait to see the reviews. If the sjw community likes it I skip it... If the sjw community hates it I go see it... So far this system has been spot on for finding good movies to watch...
I had absolutely no plans on watching this because it seemed like it was just being made 2 make more money & didn't think we needed another but now I'm considering watching it
They have nothing in common and are all bought off or brainwashed ideology look at Dave Chappelle's stand-up they hated it but everybody else loved it who would have thought that if the left say it's bad it's really really good
I'm new here, this is the first of your vids I've watched, and i've got to say you hit this out of the park. I can only hope someone in power was listening BRAVO sir...BRAVO!
In the second edition of the Stephen king's the stand, the character's watch a fictional version of Rambo 4. King's idea was Rambo fighting drug gangs in the intercity.
As a bad soviet, ugh,.. I mean russian, I just can't be mad at John Wick because of how funny it is when Keanu speaks our language (and he's actually pretty good at it, considering how many lines there are and that I can clearly understand what he is trying to say), also Wick himself turned out to be a belorussian in the last movie, so he's basically a fellow comrade to us now.
Interesting. Writers are forced to write things they don't believe. People who work in the White House are forced to go along with and defend the latest crazy statement and/or position. It sucks having a terrible boss. At my work, we just solved that problem.
Great video. I'm from the UK and I too am sickened by the pandering of the so called liberal media that have played up the negativity of this film down to its so called politics. Out of all the Rambo films this is the one that stays away from a political agenda, and also what gives the right to liberal media speaking up for Latin Americans about how they should perceived and represented? As a man of Latin American heritage, I personally feel this situation has highlighted the hypocrisy of political correctness and the way the entertainment industry has pushed this message. This is not progressive in fact it's xenophobic at how one group have the right to speak on behalf of another. However we film fans can take some comfort, let's face it apart from Last Jedi and Captain Marvel (which was the most ridiculous superhero film in recent years, I mean a superhero with no major weaknesses or doubts) how many of these pandering films have actually been long time hits? Ghostbusters 2016 failed to break even and the latest MiB film was a flop. You are absolutely right this harms series in the long run. I am a Bond fan and the news of a black woman becoming 007 was just droll. The makers had another 8 prefixes to choose from. But the press release made me sick at the pandering the media is using.
I saw a chat comment about Last Blood "...not the Rambo I know". Surely you never knew him all these previous movies. Anything he did was no different than previous movies. Only difference, he pretty much used all the knowledge and thensome from training, after all he was a Green Beret! I can elaborate more, but hopefully this is enough.
Well said. An independent reviewer from another country has a more balanced viewpoint and sees the out of control politics, current echo chamber and disconnect of reviewers from audiences (not to mention film maker disconnect from audiences) clearly. Thanks.
it is important to note that there will be multiple reviews submitted for publication but only a few are chosen to reach print, also the reviewers only get paid if they get published so a bias by a few people at the top can be magnified this way.
I've literally posted the Simpsons clip where Lisa misunderstands an author's intention with said author telling her "I'm embarassed for the both of us" only for the person I was arguing with to screech it doesn't matter what they intended. Application is everything to these weirdos. They don't care what it's actually about.
You're right, reviewers have made themselves irrelevant by apparently writing criticisms without actually watching the movie. "I don't need to see it to know what it's about" is the new mantra. Good thing they're thinking proper thoughts, otherwise we'd think they were bigots.
I am happy that you mentioned Last Blood has a scene cut from US theatrical release. I think I will wait until a full cut is out on home video instead of going out to see it. I rather see the film as Stallone wanted me to see it. I also agree with your view of the political agendas in Hollywood films and television. It certainly has turned me off. I think we are lucky that a platform like UA-cam exist to bring to light and awareness of political propaganda in our entertainment (or lack of entertainment). But it seems even UA-cam isn't exempt from censorship as Hollywood has forced Google to demonetized or deleted UA-camrs off the platform that offended the Hollywood aristocracy and corporate overlords. Thank you for an excellent video.
Other thing what amazed me is how much people liked 2019 Aladdin, I keep loosing faith in big budget animations coming from disney at all... As purist 2D>3D I find it saddening
Now that we are actually collating data, the disparity between professional reviewers and audiences is more stark than ever. It can't be ignored anymore since because we are aggregating everything, it is constantly staring us in the face. Clearly many professional reviewers have some sort of reason for saying what they do. What that is, the fear of not following the narrative of the studios and possibly losing access or just simply trying to hop on the latest narrative bandwagon, I have no firm idea. But we need to straighten this out or else reviews are essentially going to become meaningless. :/
Although I disagree completely with critics who are politicizing Rambo Last Blood, the movie itself leaves a whole lot to be desired. Hopefully Stallone makes one more Rambo entry!
I think Grace is genuine in her reviews. She hasn't shied away from criticizing star wars and other ideologically infected frachises. So if she was unfair to Rambo it was likely what she actually thinks rather than a smear job.
As someone from the UK, I had no idea this was even a issue. I think that the success of the MCU makes it look like Hollywood is doing okay. But its starting to look like Hollywood is in crisis.
Let the reviewers keep it up. They will continue to weave the rope with which they will hang themselves, further reducing their relevance to the entertainment industry. At this point, viewers should only bother with the opinions of reviewers whose previous work they've already vetted. The problem with metric review sites, is that any Tom, Dickhead and Harry can put their two cents' worth of opinion on a review that can easily be chopped into a one line quotable excerpt. They don't even matter at this point, and anyone who actually chooses which films they buy tickets for on the basis of effectively anonymous source reviews, is probably going to end up buying tickets to films they probably wish they hadn't sooner than later.
I was never a fan of the Rambo movies before, but I decided to see this one because of the SJW critics slamming it. I thought it was better than I expected.
I think you have to consider the possibility of old franchises not connecting with newer generations. Not politics. Just plain old fashion generation gap/age difference. If Rambo's box office fails. It's fatigue of old franchises. Not red vs. blue. In years past as an example of success. The music industry via Billboard would survey people working in the industry like record store sales clerks for their input on the ranking of music entertainers. This switched to actual sales figures for ranking on the charts. This was a more accurate tool. Of course, record stores are a rare breed now. Box office is the measure of success in Hollywood. Rambo Last Blood success will be known it's second week.
That, honestly, should be done. Knowing how shit professional film critics are now, a "Certified Rotten" sticker should be regarded as a badge of honor, especially if it includes the audience score right alongside it.
I can't believe people are still falling for these manipulating review/analysis articles. It's a marketing tactic. The bigger the "controversy" about something, the bigger the chance of more people seeing it. Ask Orson Welles.
The same people bashing against last blood.... will be the same people praising Dark Fate...yet both movies have roots embedded with Mexican characters....the irony goes deeper
I seem to recall sicario killing a fuck load of mexicans and grace randolf giving that one a glowing review 🤔, what a shame I thought she was one of the neutral ones. haven't yet seen last blood but if it's anything like sicario it's gonna be raw AF, that scene where they almost got ambushed by the borders stop by cartel was super tense and still is everytime I see it.
As Mexican American. Drug cartels and human trafficking is a real issue going on in Mexico. anyone who viewed this movie as racist just won’t expect that fact, or doesn’t fully understand. The movie itself besides that has a whole new meaning. For anyone who has played god of war, this movie and that are very similar. Kratos used to be this angry man with a short fuse willing to cause un fixable damage, and chaos. As they grow older, they try to hide it or “keep a lid on it” but both experience something that causes them to have to resort back to their old roots, and go back to what they really are. Some people like it more when they are angry and chaotic, others like it when they try to hide it, and show if necessary
Being non-political, my take on this movie is that politics isn't designed to deal with cartels/organized crime; Politics itself is a form of mafia. What this movie has, is a man who was personally affected by the cartel, so (much like Rambo 4), John has to take matters into his own hands, mainly because organized crime exists due to the war on drugs and prostitution being illegal (they're both economic demands). As an action film, my criticism against this movie, is that it took most of the movie to build up to the action-Which was intense, but very short.
They wee criticizing the Death Wish remake in somewhat similar ways, but now it's all more wildly out of control. I have turned my back completely on "professional critics." I used to like RT, but can't even pay attention anymore.
I sat in the cinema on a Friday night with a beer and a hot dog and loved it. It's not perfect or winning any awards but it a fun guy movie for the weekend.

I gave up on Hollyweird years ago, yet I really enjoy the independent and honest thought in channels like this, Doomcock and The Critical Drinker.
It was the same with PAssion Of The Christ. There were critics trashing it even before filming was finished.
This is one of MIdnight's Edge's best videos. Well done.
Unless it supports the illiberal agenda or lgbt agenda , it’s just derided.
people are sick of the illiberal agenda or lgbt agenda and we want things to go back to how things were in the 80's and 90's in Tv and film and tech
High praise there, thanks so much Matt!
Do you guys remember how everyone was making fun of DC fans when they were denouncing the bias and colluded attitude of movie critics?
How does it feel to be the "toxic" fanbase now?
Hey, I'm just glad it's the critics filling the embarrassment quota instead of the film this time. Looking at you "The Predator!"
Midnight Edge excluded, they're not unbiased, they're just biased your way... Which is fine.
I’m half Mexican and took my Mexican mom a legal citizen to see it we loved it #goseerambolastblood
On your comment that the villains in "John Wick" and "Taken" were allowed to be bad - they were probably given that allowance because they were white. Villains of Color are a different matter.
Your striving to be an objective voice of reason is one of the greatest features of your videos. Thank you for that.
We do try;p
This is the first I'm hearing about 10 minutes being cut from the film.
When I left the Theater to see it on thursday 1 of my 2 main thoughts was "It felt like it needed 10-15 minutes some where."
not only that online it still listed the original run time at most places
As someone who is 1/8 Mexican, I look forward to seeing this film...
I was going to see it this weekend. Rambo has been played in the background of my childhood and I need to see how the old man goes.
You're breaking this all down real good.
These people have obviously never Googled the actual Mexican Cartel.
The cartels really do give ISIS a run for its money.
maybe they should write a review of one of their beheading videos
Absolutely wonderful and spot on commentary. Instantly one of my favourite videos from your channel.
Grace Randolph needs to move to an alternate timeline.
John Rambo never gave a shit about politics. He lived in and on the front lines in the grit and grime of the real world almost all his life.
Wow, this video is gold ! Thank you for that :)
Ooh goody more controversial bullcrap can’t for once we just love rambo kicking ass and taking the fight to the cartel.
Had a rambo ad play in the middle of the video, kool stuff 👌
Thank you! Stick around, there is more here, and plenty more to come!
Before I watch this video, are there spoilers contained within it? Please let me know :)
No, nothing you couldn't gleam from the trailer.
No spoilers as far as I can see.
@@MidnightsEdge Thank you! :)
@@TheCultureCommentary Many Thanks :)
RVDDP2501 There is only one turn in the whole movie that is not foreseeable anyway.
In the second edition of the Stephen king's the stand, the character's watch a fictional version of Rambo 4. King's idea was Rambo fighting drug gangs in the intercity.
Who knew a bunch of Lefty reviews wouldn't be biased against white bad guys versus Mexican bad
Great review fella, I'm subscribed and keen to see what else you got for us. Keep up the good work.
Thanks - Joker editorial coming soon!
Rotten Tomatoes is DEAD 💀 to me.
I've literally posted the Simpsons clip where Lisa misunderstands an author's intention with said author telling her "I'm embarassed for the both of us" only for the person I was arguing with to screech it doesn't matter what they intended. Application is everything to these weirdos. They don't care what it's actually about.
I would love to visit Norway someday.
I enjoyed this balanced analysis - informative and interesting. I guess "The Wild Bunch" would never get made today!
Dude, you're nailing it. New sub here.
Video starts off July 19th when Rambo Last Blood came out Sept 19th...
Best video on this channel so far. Brilliant job well said thank you for being the voice of reason.
Let's all go to this movie a couple of times and give it great box office!
You're right, reviewers have made themselves irrelevant by apparently writing criticisms without actually watching the movie. "I don't need to see it to know what it's about" is the new mantra. Good thing they're thinking proper thoughts, otherwise we'd think they were bigots.
Checking it out tomorrow. Great video!
Hello from the US and thank you so much for being a neutral reviewer.
you just earned yourself a brazillian subscriber dude.
Sorry Andre but wall do you think is being built?
Although I disagree completely with critics who are politicizing Rambo Last Blood, the movie itself leaves a whole lot to be desired. Hopefully Stallone makes one more Rambo entry!
Interesting perspective. Great video!
Damn it, I haven't seen a movie since Infinity Wars. Now I have to watch this.
strange everyone has gone crazy so sad .. I love Rambo so screw everyone else
Critics have now become the enemy of sanity.
I hop we get the longer cut tho.
When this hits Blu-ray I hope they put a “Certified Rotten by the now irrelevant Rotten Tomatoes” sticker on the front.
It’s like a Rorschach. People see what they want, and furthermore, what they see may or may not have more to do with the viewer than the viewed.
I didnt know you're from norway :) kult :D love your videos!
I keep it simple, if rotten tomatoes rates a movie as low or poorly it means it was great. But then who cares what some social justice warriors think.
The same people bashing against last blood.... will be the same people praising Dark Fate...yet both movies have roots embedded with Mexican characters....the irony goes deeper
Great video! Thanks!
I'm Mexican American, and I loved this movie. Saw it twice...
I now look at the review scores, and if it is low I take that as a glowing recommendation.
If the critics don’t like it. Means it must be a good film. Me and my mates loved it. Stallone is a legend
They wee criticizing the Death Wish remake in somewhat similar ways, but now it's all more wildly out of control. I have turned my back completely on "professional critics." I used to like RT, but can't even pay attention anymore.
Stallone has been in the Trump White House for a pardon. I had heard before that he was Republican.
The elites hate it which means I’m going to love it. Their negative reviews are going to make me buy a movie ticket for the first time in years
I sat in the cinema on a Friday night with a beer and a hot dog and loved it. It's not perfect or winning any awards but it a fun guy movie for the weekend.
