Hello Girls! Crispin and Basilio and their mother Sisa are very famous characters that even if you have not read the novel (Here in the Philippines) you will know them, that is why Klay knows them even if she only read 3 chapters of the novel. I didn't spoil anything! Hahaha!

Sol’s Tagalog is so good! And yes, I’ve noticed the firefly is there’s sometimes almost as if warning her about danger or a bad omen, but it’s also there to comfort her afterwards. Again, this is just my theory. I can’t wait for you guys to know more about Crispin and Basilio, as well as their mother Sisa. I won’t spoil anything, but their characters are important in the novel. Even my parents who forgot what happened in Noli only remembers the name Crispin, Basilio, and Sisa clearly.

The weird music cuts are due to the formatting of television series here. An episode is cut multiple times when shown on the tv due to the MANY commercial gaps. For example, the average duration of an episode of MCI is 20+ mins but the time slot on tv is 8-9 pm, that’s one hour. So there’s like 30+ mins worth of ads in between cuts lmao.

Jose Rizal doesn’t want rebellion. He wants the Philippines to be part of Spain but with equal rights. The purpose of the two novels is to discourage rebellion but to encourage education. He believes that to free the Philippines, knowledge is the key and not violence.

As per google map, the distance from Luneta (Manila) where Rizal was shot to Rizal Shrine in Calamba City (Laguna) Rizal's hometown is approximately 54 kilometers. It takes 1hr and 5min using a private car via toll roads or 1hr and 53min using a private car via national highway (no toll roads) or 11 hours when you walk non-stop.

The distance from Manila to Laguna depends on what town in Laguna you're going to. If you're going to Sta. Cruz (my hometown) it will take around 3-4 hours by bus, but you will get faster traveling time if you have your own car depending on the traffic situation, of course.

laguna is actually not that far away from manila..if ill ride my motorbike i can reach laguna from manila within less than an hour but if i travel by car its gonna be a long ride not because of the distance but because of heavy traffic😁..especially during daytime or rush hour, the traffic in manila is so terrible..but in olden days they use carriage or kalesa in tagalog,if its pulled by 2 horses then its faster maybe it will take 4 to 6 hours to travel from manila to laguna but if its just 1 horse its gonna be slower

Klay knew Crispin and Basilio because, first, her friend told her the fate of one of them, Klay just forgot which kid. She knew they were Sisa's kids. Second, in the modern world, "Sisa" is sort of synonymous with calling someone mentally insane. Even people who don't really know about her. As a joke, which is generally harmless yet insensitive to people who might actually suffer from mental illness, people pretend to be her and call out incessantly to her kids: "Basilio! Crispin! Where are you? Crispin! Basilio!"

Hello! I just want to give information about, what I think about "baboo" slang word, we often use it to someone annoying or we are close with but it literally means "get lost" or commonly known as "babye" or short for bye bye and goodbye, its very casual
the word baboo came from the word "bye" into "ba" + the word "boo" is like a tagalog expression when you are kicking someone/something out, can also be translated as vanish, be gone, leave etc.
btw! love your reactions about this tv series^^

Klay is familiar with Crispin and Basilio even though she only read until chapter 3 its bec those boys together with their mother Sisa are major characters of the novel and learning about their pain and suffering is heartbreaking. Here in the Philippines, Noli is first introduced in the high school level and it can sometimes be re-introduced in the college level. So for Klay, seeing those boys is a sight to behold.

Based on the novel and historical archives, Manila to Laguna would be like Manila City or Intramuros to Calamba, Laguna (Rizal's Hometown). There were 2 ways to travel there during Spanish or Rizal's time. Either by Steamboat or Horse carriage, I assume 2 to 4 hours. In modern times probably it will take 1 1/2 to 2 hours by car, train, or bus. If we consider San Diego as Quezon province which is Rizal's one of his Summer place probably it 'll take 12 or more hours or in the Ilocos area for a couple of days for sure by Horse carriage.

Though in old times there are no traffic, Roads aren't that developed so travels could take much longer than estimated time. And considering they're riding Calesa which is slower than cars, yes it could be 24 to 36 hours of travels.

I wonder if you guys know the etymology of the relatively new coined word " Marites". It comes from the phrase " mare, anong latest?", translated as "mare (sis), what's the latest (chismis)?".
Mare itself comes from comadre, filipinized as kumare, and eventually shortened as mare. And I'm sure you're familiar with how Filipinos like to shorten their given names to Maricel (Maria Celestina), Maribel (Maria Isabel), and of course Marites (Maria Teresita).
But do you know that "Marites" has mutated and has given birth to several close cousins? First up is Marisol (mareng tagasulsol, provoker). This is used for a person who deliberately incite intrigue by adding information (fake or otherwise) to an already controversial issue.
Next is Marietta ( mare heto pa, sis here's more), the person who shares a follow up story to an ongoing one. And finally Mariposa (mare post mo na, sis post it now).
