    Great video!! I really like the no script longer video! I wonder if testing lenses at infinity focus would render the results a bit different 🤔😁

    I was surprised to the Takumar, Industar and Fujinon glass quite a lot.
    I have a good amount of experience with KMZ lenses (the factory that made most of the soviet lenses) and overall they never perform well wide open, they are only good for the character that they offer wide open which they do offer a look that many people love and it has grew on me as well.Overall the KMZ lenses are weird because they are all over the place but if I could give a rule of the thumb for them is that wide open usage is just an additional option that wasn't ment to be taken seriously but has a filter like look and if you want them to showcase their real capabilities in performance stop them down between f4-f8 (Jupiter lenses with the LTM mount are much better for mirrorless cameras and much more usable,also they are tiny).
    The Fujinon really didn't did much,it was an okay lens which is weird for me because many pictures I see shot on that lens made me think that pancakes sometimes can be done well. In this test at least it didn't do too much,it was just ok.
    Takumar I felt like in the first test it overperformed up an S tier level, it was amazing how great colour rendering it got and the overall performance it delivered.In the second test even though yes, the edges sharpness was terrible the colours were really vibrant and the center sharp.If it wasn't that terrible corner softness it would be an actual contendor for s tier.

    I have the Pentax SMC Takumar 28/3.5 (not the 2.8) and that is sharper across the frame (APS-C) than my copy of the Canon FDn 28/2.8 at all apertures.
    Might be a matter of QC, as you say, but I also heard that the f/3.5 Takumar wide angle primes are better than the f/2.8 versions.

      Without watching the full video yet, I wholeheartedly agree that older lenses on the Fuji bodies ghost a lot. Like the EF 85 1.8 that I have. It was an affordable way to get a decently fast prime(ergo lightweight) with that focal length for my video work, but after the recent episode I shot for a documentary, I'm dreading what I'm going to have to deal with in post despite keeping it at f4. It doesn't even match up to the XF18-55. Considering taking my heavy 50-150 instead for the next episode until I can get a used XF 55-200 for on the run work like documentaries. As someone who doesn't drive, weight is a major deciding factor for my fast paced video work.

    sometimes on youtube, if you click a couple of times, within moments you find yourself in crazy rabbitholes. Luckally i found myself here, and im really grateful for it. This is content, the talking, the information, the numbers, everything, its like a ASMR for me. I watched all your Sigma videos, i want to pick up a SD Quattro now, im new to photography but not new to editing in lightroom and other software like it. Dp you think this would make a good camera for me, a guy wanting to delve into photography and do it slow, and learn the hard way. I also kinda want to challenge myself to get my pet rabbits into focus on the SD Quattro, and also want to make art-sy streetphotos. Anyway i cant wait for new content already, and also i still have to watch the thrift store haul and twenty dolla holla video, but keep doing what youve been doing on YT cause i like it. Thanks for that

    I have the Sigma version of that Quantary, the Sigma Super Wide II and it is an excellent lens with macro capabilites. I also have the Pentax lens but mine is the 28mm 3.5 which some say is a much better lens than the 28 2.8 . Mine is perfect wide open, although you loose an f stop, of course. By the way I use these lenses on a Fuji X-T2 along with a Canon nFD 50mm 1,4 (Really nice lens).

    Yamaki-san apparently designed a 28mm for Sigma in the 1990s as his first major project when he was an engineer.

    I have the Fuji 27mm (came with the X-E4 body) and I am considering to grab the SMC Pentax 28mm to try (as I am very happy with the SMC 50mm F1.7). The Fuji 27mm is sometimes too sharp for my taste and the photos come like iPhone photos. For me, the 27mm makes the camera pocketable and that's it, can't like the photos taken with it :(

    I wanted to ask what video camera would you recommend for short skits for youtube? Im using a go pro currently to do skits,

    • @forgottencameras
      @forgottencameras 2 роки тому

      It depends on your standards. For most people, the GoPro or a higher-end smartphone is fine. For others, something like a Sony RX100 VII, others even can't do anything below Netflix quality, so something like a Sigma fp.
      If it is just skits and you're not making money from it, stick with the GoPro.

      @@forgottencameras Thanks for the info. Ya i just gotta get better lighiting and i feel the go pro would look even better. You should consider doing a video on just basic usb connecting webcams and compare the worst ones to the best ones. I would watch. Thank you for the hard work
