Toronto prices are insane so yes. Relative moved out after Uni because they cannot afford anything bigger than a tiny studio flat and that's not even in the city limits.
It is the spirit of his late mother haunting his sales. 🤣 he inherited it 30 years ago and grew up in it 🤷♀️ should he even be selling this asset to travel? Smartest solution is to rent it out through a property management company. Still have it to retreat to. He isn’t without options.
I don't think he had any intention of selling it. Gorgeous home. He grew up there, is completely attached to it. No way would he want to move from that neighbourhood.
George's house has been neglected for decades and as a former smoker who bought a former smokers house- I can tell you if you have wood in the house like flooring or paneling, if the weather changes you can still smell the nicotine after 15 years!!! There are barrier paints, but they are all in white or grey and not in clear, so you loose the wood pattern. If you are a non-smoker- then buy a non smoker house!!!
With the house right on a busy road, I'd build a garden wall and install a fountain. Because what noise isn't blocked would be masked by the relaxing sound of water. It would feel safer, too. 😊
For the first one, I would think the smoke smell is off putting. I would t want a smoke smelling house in matter how gorgeous or prestigious the location. The two sisters spent 90k for renovations & that didn’t include the kitchen?!
Lol! I can understand not wanting to do major repairs or recarpet, but I always laugh when potential buyers say that they don't like the colors or the lighting, much less the furniture or art--you don't get to keep that! 😅
Overpriced? When was this aired? The prices on here are insane but i just looked up current single family home prices in Toronto, and a run down shack is OVER half a million dollars?! 😳 😳😳 Sounds as bad as what I hear homes in California go for. Are these prices the norm in most of Canada? Honestly wondering. Like can you even get a 3 bedroom 2 bath home for under $500k? How do you folks survive? I can imagine that young people just cant even buy a home. I know where i live its hard for young folks just starting out but wow, this blows where i live out of the water. What are apartment rents like?
@nanabuster7285 whoa! Here a 1 bedroom is between $1,300-1,500. Single family (new homes even) homes are starting at 300k in most areas with a huge demand in homes as so many have been flocking to the area I live in but I think home sales are finally starting to slow down some. But homes that just 4 years ago were going for under 200k are now 300k+. But are the prices in Toronto similar in many other parts of Canada? Are the job salaries high enough for someone especially 20 somethings to afford even an apartment? Those apartment prices far exceed my mortgage payment.
@@grace7701 no there is a lot of people living in tents, trailors, cars now. canada has the most inflated real estate in the world, don't come here if you don't have to. Even suburbs and small towns have unfordable real estate. It's a mess. Keep in mind that this show was shot in 2007. That victorian home can sell easily for 2 million.
normaly people don’t live in a victorian house. People who live in, are stylish by themselves. Better he offers his house without any of that „mobiliar“
George is so stubborn and can't see how he gets in his own way. Sophie showed amazing restraint and tact dealing with him. How TF do you expect to sell something when buyers can't look at it?
Dear Sophie - congratulations, you are doing an amazing job ❣️ I do not have a house to sell but I am looking for inspirations making my (rented) apartment more up-to-date. I will retire soon and will have time to declutter. We are living here for more than 20years and my kids have grown up here. When they move out I will have to find a smaller apartment. So I do not want to invest too much. Here in Switzerland a lot of people live in rented apartments. So homestaging might provide inspirations for me. Would it be possible to get in contact with you and get your advice?
I’d buy that house as is. Why can’t people see beyond the decor. You need to look at the bones. Ignore the decor. I love the colour of his house. The most important things in real estate is location, location. location.
Do you think any of these properties were particularly overpriced? 👀
Toronto prices are insane so yes. Relative moved out after Uni because they cannot afford anything bigger than a tiny studio flat and that's not even in the city limits.
Same in the UK !! But I’m sure Sophie already knows this 😊 London and Manchester have gone intergalactic 😮
If they sold then they aren’t overpriced lol accept the market cause no one cares particularly real estate market cares what you think.
It is bad; man!! |/:).
Oh my gosh!! |/:).
The smell of smoke in and of itself is a dealbreaker.
The first one, George's house is amazing - just the bare bones of it is incredible.
It is the spirit of his late mother haunting his sales. 🤣 he inherited it 30 years ago and grew up in it 🤷♀️ should he even be selling this asset to travel? Smartest solution is to rent it out through a property management company. Still have it to retreat to. He isn’t without options.
LOL, George decided it was too nice for anyone else, he's staying! LOL

The poor ceilings didn’t get painted 😂
Sad to see a couple waste real estate money on a wedding. It should go on starting your life together. Put towards your new home
Mind your business
But still smells like an old ashtray when the windows are closed for 10 minutes 😢
With the house right on a busy road, I'd build a garden wall and install a fountain. Because what noise isn't blocked would be masked by the relaxing sound of water. It would feel safer, too. 😊
I really like these marathons 🙏🏻
I absolutely loved this makeover.
The garden lets the house down, it would be nice to have full width access at the back to a landscaped garden.
Magic wallpaper! It’s anaglypta!
For the first one, I would think the smoke smell is off putting. I would t want a smoke smelling house in matter how gorgeous or prestigious the location. The two sisters spent 90k for renovations & that didn’t include the kitchen?!
I LOVED George's original color...
Lol! I can understand not wanting to do major repairs or recarpet, but I always laugh when potential buyers say that they don't like the colors or the lighting, much less the furniture or art--you don't get to keep that! 😅
I can't believe they painted George's house that horrible grey! The original brick must have been stunning 😢
George spoilt it in the first place with that bright blue. What else were they supposed to do but cover it up !
Tiles should never be painted but replaced.
I think the leaf curtains should be drawn completely off the window
I liked George's homes exterior better blue and yellow😢
They need to stop with the Slip Covers ...which look cheap and immediately tell me you trying to hide a Raggedy And/Or Dirty Sofa
They use the slip covers for staging purposes only. 😉
They should have taken the offer. Greed and pride. An unhappy alliance.

Rent for one bedroom units in Vancouver go for $2,700 - $3,500 per month. It’s insane.

Before recorcking the tub fill the tub at least half way xx
the blue exterior was wayyyyy better than that sad grey
This is a VERY old episode, over a decade old.
Anaglypta paper. I love it 😄
normaly people don’t live in a victorian house. People who live in, are stylish by themselves. Better he offers his house without any of that „mobiliar“
Love this show, where can I purchase the stick on dragonflies?
Try art shops or paper specialist shops
I’m surprised they left the yellow ceiling - as he is a smoker that has to be grotty
That "magic wallpaper" looks remarkably like anaglypta to me.
Show the kitchen after the upgrades. (First one)

Please show the original date.
2007
It is not cheap to paint a house and that house exterior needs to be painted, for starters.
Did George really sell? Seems like a person who just wanted the attention of the show. Not really sell
Canada??????
