Thank you for the series of review videos on this set! These look pretty great combined. I got MPG-01 in earlier this week. And between having him in hand and your review of these Moon Studios bots I know which direction to go. I shared a lot of your CHUG concerns about the figure, but once I got him in hand I am all in on the Takara-Tomy version.
I don't know if you've seen, but the first youtube review for Takara MP Raiden was recently posted and it's not good - like combiner wars menasor not good.
Good review. I am glad I got this set. I find it funny that they were able to release the ENTIRE set before Takara even got one of theirs to market. I hope the connection ports have longevity. I wonder if they will release an add on kit? He looks awesome and given his size and pricepoint I think they did a good job. No combiner is perfect. I am actually looking forward seeing how Takara handles theirs. I would be down for a Versus of the MS and TT whenever they finish theirs...like 2 - 3 years from now? lol. Your collection room looks awesome. Hopefully this will be the last combiner I will buy for a few years.
@@kylarstern7627 While I think they are cool I won't go in on another Combiner that isn't finished. I would be more in on the FT Superion, but I don't want to pay a stupid late tax on something we don't even know if they will finish. They got me on Menasor because he's my favorite. I hope the Dream Star one succeeds.

Why can they not make a combiner which doesn't require you to pray to the Almighty that the stupid connecter pieces say in freaking place for 10 complete seconds before folding like a cheap lawn chair?
The back two clips that hook into iron arm for the upper torso Need to be pushed all the way in ( which on mine is a pain ) but once done flipping the back panels of iron arm to the orange side with completely lock it together and it is dead solid after that.
It is also a bit easier to leave those little side panels in the back on iron arm open to secure lock those two connectors then closing them once the torso is together. I find when I do that the upper torso and lower torso connection is much more solid.
My experience with third party combiners is lacking. I've only gotten into it when Cang Toys started releasing their Predaking. Other than those figures and the one Aerialbot that Dream star has released, these are the only other ones I've went in on. And so far I've been pleasantly surprised by them. I haven't received the arms yet but the shoulder connections have been my biggest worry about this set after I saw how it would combine. I'm glad to see they can hold their weight fairly well.
Now if only we can have Hasbro/Takara *FINALLY* release a mainline version of these guys! Like Raiden technically is Devastator's brother due to both originally being Diaclone's Train Robo (Raiden) and Construction Robo (Devastator), yet this is the first real toy Raiden got since his G1 toy! I mean even Liokaiser got a mainline toy for the general market (non-MP) in Combiner Wars (which although it does suck ass, still got a toy regardless). Even King Poseidon and God Neptune did as well.
The whole set is great and high in quality. And the fastest combiner released that doesn’t feel rushed. Also it’s best to open the back panels of Iron Arm then, slide in Moon Shine to properly secure it in. Not sure yours is all the way.
@@MythsAndHeroes considering the force it take to get those back tabs locked into iron arm, you didn't get them fully in with that little screwdriver, or at least for what you've shown on the video. Also, the back section should be rotated around so the orange side is outwards,
I have to say, this set looks amazing. Having said that, the shoulder connections are a turn off. The ratchets seem to be the biggest issue. Between tolerance and tooth count, it seems to severely limit the articulation and stability. I would also be concerned about how well they would hold up over time.
Interesting that this came out before ft-30 or ft-31. I get that the figures are different quality, but they are comparable. I wonder if some of Zeta's designers for this Raiden worked on ft combiners before that and the real reason they've been on hold this long is ft was waiting for the designers to finish up with the zeta combiner and come back and work for them again to finish theirs... I wonder what the timelines look like overlaid... Thanks for the review Bobby! I thought there were two extra locking tabs on the back but Im not sure. And I don't think it would have changed your final thoughts.
Interesting to see how it came out. I wonder how the cang toys predaking will fare, as those are heavy bots and gorilla pants seems like a bigger ask vs the boxy train bot.
I had all the same issues with stability that you did and I wish that they used partsforming pieces as well. I also would’ve preferred if they didn’t use die cast in the arm bots, cause that’s just added weight on the ankles…still I’m impressed with this combiner!
I’m not familiar with this character. I’m not even sure I will get him. He does look good though. I’m wondering if this is the legit color version of him or will there be re colored box sets coming. Toy, toon, evil version or otherwise.
Perhaps in addition to stronger rachets on the legs, the arm bots should have utilised less diecast, I think the overall weight contributes to the rachets giving in and thus wobbliness on the ankles and hips
@@themechaidiot that's cool but I want an MP sized one. Feral rex is amazing, but small and dated now. Doing cang toys but that's a whole thing on its own 😂 I'll find somewhere for it
The set looks spectacular, so happy you like your purchase. The only thing I will say is they could have went with a better locking mechanism for such a large figure considering it was parts forming. Had they done that this big boy would be more secure and probably a runner for figure of the year. Great review!
I don't care for how far the chest sticks out from the torso. The gap it creates is distracting to me. I like it overall but still debating on canceling my Takara pre-orders and getting this instead.
I think this screaming out for an upgrade kit . Its a bit bland , boring for my liking . It needs a big helmet or shpulder pads sword hilts stuff like that
I have to agree that the parts forming Kronos was a bit more stable, the chest didn't came undone by the manipulating of the shoulders, the knee ratchets were stronger and since it had no up and down on the feet he was able to hold it's weight a lot better. The main issue with Radiatron is that some of the pieces wont keep tabbed so they needed a locking mechanism to help keep them together. The Radiatron chest is a bit frail and comes untabbed, the knee ratchets aren't strong enough and there seems to be some wobbling between the teeth on the ankle ratchets. Besides the stability issues, the arms and hands are too big and there's way to much empty space between the arms and the chest. Since the ratchets on these big combiners need to be very strong, every part of the combiner needs to be rock solid because they have to be able to withstand the strength applied to manipulate those strong ratchets. Thanks for the review Mr. Skullface.
Overall very impressive,. Zeta is the king of combiners. While not as stable as their other combiners with parts forming, it has to be said their individual bots are much better in both looks and quality over the aireolbots, constructicons and combaticons. Zeta keeps getting better imo
Some people like me buy these stuff for the engineering, the complex and clever, the better. Fake parts just don't align with those preferences and they defeat the concept of a perfect transformation combiner.
@@fernandoflores3161 as an engineer, I fully agree with this statement. I'm perfectly fine with hands, heads, or feet, but entire torsos? I'm not even all that upset with Menasors requiring Motormaster's trailer, because that at least incorporates somewhere, but in general, needing an entire body from out of the blue completely defeats the purpose of a combiner.
I like how you show everything off camera or obstructed, really keeps the audience guessing.
@Aaron Johnson Haha seriously, me too
It still baffles me that it took this long just to get a legit raiden set.

The back of Iron Arm must be orange, the panels have to be flipped out (flipping flaps is something you like to do a lot, don't you? :D )

@Bobby - What is your feeling about keeping Raiden in combined mode for long periods? Will the joints wear out?

I have basically forgot about receiving my 5th Stunticon from FT. Seems like a lifetime ago I started that set.
Huh. Didn’t quite think of that.
My opinion it’s my favorite combiner from zeta thus far. The quality of each bot plus the extremely stable combined mode is very impressive.
So would rubber pads help under the feet at all where you mentioned the ankles may be a little weak due to ratchet size?
Interesting to see how it came out. I wonder how the cang toys predaking will fare, as those are heavy bots and gorilla pants seems like a bigger ask vs the boxy train bot.
seems a bit wobbly. also, those shoulder joints look like they are just a ticking timebomb waiting to explode.
