Why doesn't anybody make a compilation of these jams?! Can you imagine hearing these songs now compared to the cheap manufactured sounding junk music of today??
Omg, Philly rock. I remember this growing up in North Philly. At the time was too young to understand the meaning of the song, but loved the harmonizing. My brother had the process hair and head scarf. “WDAS” had it going on.
I too am also from Philly, born and raised, lived in the projects at 11th and Poplar st, high rise, 9th floor, Philly had the best sound, I even remember when guys wore head scarfs so they wouldn't mess up their hair( wore their hair in processes) and they would and could harmonize, a sound that I miss today, true harmonizing in acapella, hope I spelled this right, ha,ha, lol, miss this music soooo much, still have most of it too!
Hello my sistah, I'm not from Philly, lived right outside in West Chester, and I remember listening to WDAS and WHAT, getting my hair processed when I was 12 and wearing headrags, walking suits, silk and wool pants, Italian knits, celebrity boots , comforts, striped nylon socks, nylon tricot underwear, clean as a mofo and going to the Uptown, Nixon, and Convention Hall!
I too live in North Philly it was some BADD dude's from 12th and Popular and 10th and Thompson St back in the 70s I used to have a friend who lived on the 900 block of 10th St...Hey Dianne 🙋

I remember legendary DJ Herb Kent playing this, I was in high school then and never heard it again until I became computer literate and found it on UA-cam several years ago.

December covid-19 2021 Well-yeah! the musical arrangement here with strings and stuff is so-symphonically subdued in mood, but I get it, and appreciate its musical production values. Philly artists have that trademark sophisticated ensemble and grand orchestrated Backing. You might say some of it is over produced on record for a group to faithfully perform the song live. That's why some concerts were disappointing to me. But hey! they still sound good on record.
This song is so, so sad, he stated that he" tried to keep her from walking out of the door" Great Love Song, I can relate to every word that he is singing! GREAT NORTH PHILLY SOUND.
Seems brother fashions were the same every where. Processes were worn by guys in Chicago and tied with head scarfs, old men comfort shoes, and leather house shoes, those banlon shirts, and plad lumber jacket shirts with white tees underneath. My cousin went to vietnam and when he came back he said the brothers are the same all over the world, and he was right, RIP Henry.

Let me sing a song about tomorrow
A very sad one I know (it's a very sad story)
What made my true love leave me (why'd she have to leave me)Lord I'll never know
I've tried and I've tried and I've tried
To keep her from
Walking out my door
Oh I'm so broken hearted now
She gone forevermore
My baby left me
Though she knew just how I felt
And ran into the arms of another man
She left me with nothing but this cheesin face
Love this is my story (a story of love)
I hope you understand how I feel
Every word I say is true
If your baby ever left you
I know you'd feel the same way too
I've tried and I've tried and I've tried
To keep her from
Walking out my door
Oh I'm so broken hearted now (oh I'm so broken hearted now)
Cause she's gone forevermore
And this is my story
Story of love
The little girl she's running!!
Oh don't run away baby
Don't you know I need you
Wow! I always thought he was saying Let Me Sing A Song About Two Lovers....
