i tried to mimic what he was doing with that guy and I was able to feel/understand exactly what he was showing that guy to get remarkably closer to what it's supposed to sound like. I'm assuming this type of singing is just out of your capabilities and thus you understand this to be "bullshit" as opposed to instruction from experience beyond what almost anyone on the planet has. Or maybe you are a great singer with just a total lack of class. Or just a troll. Either way, a comment helps out the person that's on my side so good on you, hater.
I was ready to hate on this teacher, but finally good to see someone teach singers to sing with their bodies instead of their throats and in their nose. It may look a little funny but it is correct. Loose from the neck up, open throat and open at the back of neck and head, and the all the weight of the voice on the muscles below the throat. This is good appoggio!
This song is sang all over the world. I sang this song in recitals 20 years ago. The main coaching, and technique an accomplished tenor needs, is how to arrive at the end, with enough gas in the tank to deliver Vincero!!! The song is so popular, that this aria unfortunately, now is all about the high notes.
An Opera singing-teacher must be able to sing and to demonstrate how to develop the voice’s sound; because the most important way for singing learning is the sound’s imitation: like a mother, which doesn’t show the her baby how to talk, but, she talks directly and normally to him and he is learning through the mother’s sounds imitation. This kind of teaching without producing examples and sounds and based only on stupid body’s movements, is only an easy way to earn easy money.
@@matteodemicheli5890 you've just described virtually every singing teacher out there. Even in performing art colleges. I've had to take a 10 year journey often slowly translating what old masters have said and written to come to where I now am as a singer.
@@jcee6886 I disagree. Most voice teachers attempt to display what sound the student should aim for, but because these teachers cannot sing well themselves, they fall short in doing so.
I admire the tenor's breath support! Amazing. Guess some of the moves really work on the singer in a way to focus or concentrate the voice in a different way but shouldnt throw him out of his usual singing formation because his voice is already great.

Wow! big voice. I'm not an opera singer but there are points where the teacher is helping, such as the eh's in the first two lines. Look at Mick Jagger's mouth when he sings an Eh or Eee vowel
When I looked at the people who sang in the Shanghai Opera video, could see that was professional singers who had reached a considerable level. But they had some problems because Italian was not their first language. Nevertheless, the coach here in the video did not actively try to solve or advise on the problems and I thought that his voice is not professional when every time he sang briefly. Judging from the circumstances, the coach appearing in the video appears to have played a similar role as a physical therapist to help singers relax and sing in a more stable manner.
The world is flat. I am Chinese. We are here watching an English masters teaching Chinese students to sing Italian opera. Most of the comments are in English, French, Italian, and Spain. The world is really small, and everyone is very close in the same village called the earth . I am Fluent in English, French, Spanish, and almost Portugues.but I can only speak basic Italian, and I am a amateur tener / baritone love to sing Nessun Dorma :) , ; I have read all the reviews and I understand the answers, but I don’t understand the ones in Russian. This student singer has a good voice, a good high pitch, and his pronunciation is very Chinese. The student does not speak English and Italian. Unfortunately, it is difficult for him to communicate well with the teacher.
I was all reved up to hate on the teacher, but he is 100% correct in his approach. This is proper singer, where everything is leaned downwards, especially on the back muscles as you go up. The face and jaw are nice and lose allowing the larynx to relax down, the throat and back of the neck and head are open . There is none of this crap of trying to get the sound in to the head and pushing it forward and contorting in the mask or opening your mouth like your trying to swallow a piano. Singing , at least opera singing, is a very physical thing and the more pressure and weight you put on everything from the throat down, the better and less pressure on your throat and vocal chords. This is how you do appoggio. It also makes a bigger, louder and more resonant sound.
This is why opera is considered elitist. because i could immediately hear the displacement and tension in someone's voice while the majority in comment section cannot. It is called masterclass. and like any master class, it's about little details, not your fundamentals. if this guy was anything less than 90% in, he shouldn't be here. The coach is experienced and believe it or not these little details that you guys can't hear, can win you the spot in the opera or get you out. Dig deeper
