- It was just over two centuries ago that the global population was 1 billion - in 1804. But better medicine and improved agriculture resulted in higher life expectancy for children, dramatically increasing the world population, especially in the West.
As higher standards of living and better health care are reaching more parts of the world, the rates of fertility - and population growth - have started to slow down, though the population will continue to grow for the foreseeable future especially in Africa and some parts of Asia.
U.N. forecasts suggest the world population could hit a peak of 11.1 billion by 2100 before beginning to decline. But exact numbers are hard to come by - just small variations in fertility rates could mean a population of 15 billion by the end of the century.

It is crazy how small the population of North and South America were in the early 1800s. There a more people living in Mexico City today then in both continents combined in 1800.
As far as population projections go Africa's growth rate is unsustainable. They just don't have enough productive agricultural land to support that kind of population.
They were mostly colonies still. Besides that, the big population boom came after, and it only sped up with the immigration coming from Europe during the Napoleonic wars, aswell as the first and second world wars.
The world is changing and so is Africa. Currently, a lot of it's land resources and money goes to America and Europe but it's changing. Also We don't know what kind of new thing will happen in the next 70y though the way Africa was treated before the 2000s is gone so the Continent has time to grow where it should be. It currently has the biggest population of young people in the world so they still have time to reproduce and create more things compared to the West which has more old people than young and people are making less and less children.

Whether you like it or not, our demographic boom is immense and is even underestimated because currently we are at more than 2 billion. the majority of the African population lives in villages where it is impossible to make the census so we limit ourselves to the populations of the big cities. You should also know that the population is always underestimated .
When the World population was officially estimated at 7.6 Billion ,a guys counted the population himself (By adding every country together) and he found that it was actually 7.9 Billion . So there was 300 Million people missing from the official estimation .

Now literally every country in Europe is going through a demographic crisis and this will grow.
There were 10.2 million people in Belarus in 1990. Now 9.3. By 2100 there will be 7.
And this applies not only to our country, all neighbors are the same. Nobody wants to have many children. In general, this is a sign incl. developed country. My grandmother had 7 children, three died during WWII. Previously, everyone gave birth a lot, in the hope that someone will still grow up and will help in the future. Why there are many children in Africa - probably for the same reason. The underdevelopment of countries pushes mothers to do this.

In this world, the number of people does not matter, only technological advantage matters. What difference does a billion people have against a billion advanced bomb drones. All it takes is a super-advanced small group of people who control AI along with all the flow of information and the highest technologies. This is the reality.

And in my opinion it has something to do with our political system and economic doctrine that have allowed creativity to flourish. Most revolutionary scientific and technological advancements have been the fruit of human creativity combined with scientific knowledge. Japan and South Korea are also exceptional scientific hubs in the technology sector for the same reason. And China now understands that they can’t compete without offering some level of scientific freedom. Don’t criticize the political system and we will leave the scientists alone and offer them the material resources to bring results. In 2023 and in the years ahead, China will be a formidable competitor. I still think that the democratic system is more suitable for these technical and technological advancements but they learned and developed their own model.
