hey I'm working on my application for umass rn and this got me so excited! i went to visit the campus during the summer and i remember it being kinda far from the city. how far is the target that you went to from umass? im just a bit worried about being isolated in the middle of nowhere if i end up going there. just for some context ive grown up in a big city for my whole life and so im just curious to see how convenient it is for students there to get to places. thanks in advancee and i love your content btww
hi!! i'm so happy it got you excited yay! it definitely is far from your typical city. boston is around two hours away which is not ideal if you are someone that loves being in busy places. worcester is decently busy but definitely not the same as boston and its an hr bus ride away but it's decently cheap. that being said, there's a bus to northampton which is kind of a cute little city nearby but more fun if youre into live music or events like that. the target i went to is actually only a couple miles off campus and there's a bus that takes like 10ish minutes to get to the complex (there's also a walmart, starbucks, chipotle, barnes n noble, panera, michaels, trader joes, etc. in the area called holyoke mall). sorry this whole thing is super scrambled!! overall, it definitely is not the place to go if you are looking to feel like you are in the city, but it isn't inaccessible. a lot of students chose to bring cars on campus to make transportation easier but ik that isn't an option for a lot of people! hopefully this can help, i know it's a huge decision and i hope you end up making the best decision for you! and thank you for the compliment you are so kind!!
@@sid-adams woww thank you so much for all the detail, SO so helpful! as someone who tends to worry easily it helps to get some specifics like the travel time from a real student there:D i'll definitely keep researching and weighing the pros and cons, but it seems like a great place to study just looking at your vlogs. have a great rest of your day!
yes because there are a lot of parties and people go crazy during blarney (st patricks day tradition) but since it's such a big school, you don't have to be involved at all if it isn't your thing. people who enjoy going out have the option to, but me and a lot of my friends like staying in and it's completely normal :)
at the time i filmed this i lived in oak hall but now i live in maple! they are both in the honors living community, but if you are a freshman coming in that isn't in the honors college it is still possible to get into honors housing i think
i literally love this video, i’m coming in the fall n the umass fever is crazyy keep these vlogs going 🔥🔥
yayy let me know if you have any questions!

Is it really a party school?
