This piece of music is inspired by the Druids, the mystical religious leaders of Celtic societies. The music is primarily fantasy-themed and was not meant to imitate a historically accurate rendition of what Celtic music in ancient or medieval times sounded like.
Nevertheless, the use of the modern Aeolian and Dorian modes was extensive in this piece, both of these modes being popular in representing Celtic music.
Flutes (including alto flutes and a bass flute), French horns, tin and low whistles, a church organ, and, of course, a men's choir were chosen for the orchestration of this piece.
