Professor RobBob, thank you for another awesome video/lecture on the Introduction to Sequences. Sequences are very important in Mathematics and students will encounter this material in Calculus Two and Advanced courses in Science and Engineering.
W-O-W!!!...I am honored to be helping an international student from Japan learn math terms! We love hearing about the different ways my videos are helping students learn more than just math in the classroom:) UA-cam has opened a whole new window to the world for my teaching and my wife and I love hearing the stories...and really enjoy hearing the details like: Where are you going to school, may I ask? I'm currently working on adding to my calc library so keep watching!
Hi Prof. Rob! I just graduated with my B.A. and had to pass an online College Algebra class to do so. Sequences were my last topic in the class and I watched your videos on all different topics to prep for my exams and then for my final exam. I wanted to let you know that I got a 91% in the class with your help! I never thought I could get such a good grade! God Bless you and all the work you do! Bam!
+maryankee I'd say that calls for a giant BAM!!!! and CONGRATULATIONS on a job well done! Thanks for sharing your success story with us and for putting in all the study time to make that happen...continue on that road to success, you may experience a few bumps but always take time to "enjoy the ride"!
I don't know how I missed your comment four months ago. I have my comments set be be approved to make sure they stay clean so teachers feel comfortable using my videos in their classes. I hope you continued to do great in your class and that you are having a fun summer. I am currently getting ready to teach AP Calculus next school year for the first time. I am very excited!!!
I'm glad to hear you aren't homesick...What state are you in?...and what university will you be transferring to? Keep up that great GPA and stay motivated to work hard because us teacher all love having self-motivated students like yourself. I'm in Florida and it's almost time to go back to the classroom:(...summer break passes much too quickly!
HI ProfRobBob!! I messaged you about how your videos got me through calc one when i was at community college a year ago. Now I am at SFSU studying math for advanced study!! Now that I am in Calc 2 I am looking to you again for help with sequences and series!! Thanks so much for all you do!!
Welcome back Carol Fisher and thanks for choosing me again for help! Sadly, the extent of my Calc2 help is minimal but I hope you can find some help in the beginning of your studies...and I hope you will take the opportunity to share your experience and my channel with others you may meet who would benefit from my lessons. I have a website now that has a printable flyer that you could post in the student tutor center or share with some professors as an additional study reference for their students:) Our goal this year was 100,000 subscribers by 2015...not much time left but we are NOT giving up hope yet...so any sharing and support from your end is greatly appreciated...BAM!!!
Absolutely!! Send me the link to your website and I will most definitely give a flyer to the math department as well as our tutor center here at SF State. I thought you might like to know that, just today, I told my classmates to look you up for review or clarification on topics we learn class. Also, I think you will help me tremendously in Calc 2 because the hardest part about this course for me is the algebra and the trig!!! With your videos, I can strengthen those core foundations and do better in Calc 2!! One more thing, I really love how quirky and goofy you are and that you write everything out so beautifully! America needs more passionate teachers like you and thanks again so much for all you do!! ~Carol
Carol Fisher www.profrobbob.com (website, before I forget) I have one flyer on there now that you have to stretch to the page but plan on adding another one in the next day or so without the rip-off edge. We solely depend on our subscribers for advertisement and growth and have started reaching out and asking them to do more to help with the growth and subscriber count. THANK YOU for being so receptive to helping, and already started sharing with others and your classmates, that's AWESOME...we really appreciate it! Surprisingly, a lot of people don't realize that liking, subbing, sharing and supporting the ads are all important to the growth of these educational channels...since it's hard to get a math video to go viral...lol Looks like student count at SFSU is 30,500 and all those future subscribers should help me reach that goal of 100,000...BAM!!! Thanks to you Carol...hahaha We have friends in Sacramento, and loved our visit to SF in 2006, lots of great photo ops! I'm happy to hear that you will still be utilizing my channel and look forward to hearing about your progress. And THANK YOU for taking the time to "thank the teacher"! It's true that I LOVE what I do, and that it comes out thru my teachings. One of my favorite Confucius quotes is: "Choose a job you love and you will NEVER have to WORK a day in your life"...it may not be the best paying job but money does not buy you happiness like this:) With much appreciation, ~Rob & Cheryl
I totally understand...and for that reason I did NOT approve your second message to keep your information your own. Good luck with such a hard decision. But when you do decide which college...make the commitment and give it 100% and the future will be there for YOU to create!
Thank you Mr. Tarrou. You are an awesome teacher!! I've been watching your video to learn mathematical vocabulary for college calculus. I'm an international student from Japan. Actually I've already done mostly in high school, but math terms are totally different. You teach math well and funny! So, almost done precalculus. Next is Calculus!
After a tough couple weeks in my accelerated class, I have found myself on this video trying to understand the recursive formula. I was able to follow along with the first example and make it through my own practice problem, thank you again!
+zoe duncan you are very welcome and thanks for liking and learning with me! Please tell the rest of your class to watch, like, sub and share with their friends too:D
thanks for watching...sounds like a great time to share this channel with your teacher as an additional study reference to share with ALL the rest of their students looking for after school help:D
Thank you for explaining the details of the variables, just starting to learn this and it is very foreign, I have gone through so many so called basic sequence videos and t
You're welcome...thanks for studying and subbing! If you continue to find this channel helpful please share it with everyone as you remind them ALL to sub and share too:D That's how we grow and remain free for other self-motivated students like you...BAM!!!
I should not mention which college I want to go yet. After preparing enough in this college, I want to consider it! I want to go to the highest level university as long as I could reach. (I don't know it makes sense to you or not.) But I'm doing my best! By the way more than 10 videos in Calculus done!! Bam!
How do you when to use which formula for recursive sequences? Does every recursive problem have its own set of recursive formula to use to try to find out the following nth term? Because you had 2 different recursive formulas you used?
Both of my last two examples model the problems that you will find in a typical PreCalculus book. They will get you a set of recursive formulas and ask for the first few terms in the sequence. It is really just an exercise in learning how to use and recognize the subscript notation. Explicit formulas are much more convenient. I cover two types, Arithmetic and Geometric sequences in following lessons and give a standard generic explicit formula. There are other special types besides arithmetic and geometric, but that is all I cover in my Precalc class that give a specific A sub n formula. www.profrobbob.com/pre-calculus/intro-to-sequences-arithmetic-geometric
Thanks for watching this Florida teacher and please take the time to subscribe and share my channel with other students and teachers at your university...THANKS!

Hi, Is there a general formula for getting the product of the quadratic sequence? : )

Erik Bravo you're welcome, hope it helps:)
at 3:48ish you said -6 x5 and meant -6 + 5. Great video again thanks!
they don"t explain or give meaning to the variables. Finally meaning is being applied. Thanks so much!
:)
Thanks! I thought this was very easy to understand.
+Jay Draper you're welcome...thanks for taking the time to learn:)
Thank you very much sir
You're the best!
Thank you so much!
Thank you so much teacher for d vedio.. its very helping... :)
BAM!!! SADIA mahmood
Good to see you are still enjoying them!
hheheh yeah :)
tank u very much you make it easy to understand i'm Nigerian student from ahmadu bello university zaria.
Thanks for watching this Florida teacher and please take the time to subscribe and share my channel with other students and teachers at your university...THANKS!
Thanks do much I need this for a week about now..lol
