Wow, this explains so much, thanks. You can also do this with the "pivot table" feature. It will collate all the unique names, and then you can choose to either sum, or count up the cM values.
How about removing the X segments too? Thanks for your reply to my last comment. I've got what I want now but after finding some matches that were way higher than I thought any of my paternal matches were I realised it was because they shared quite a bit on the X chromosome! So I did it again but removed the X Chr segments prior to removing all segments under 7cM Thank you so much for showing me that this could be done :-)
Removing X segments is definitely a good idea, I didn't even think about it when making this video. Since Ancestry, GEDmatch, and MyHeritage report results without the X DNA, then removing those segments would make it more of an apples to apples comparison.

In my Excel spreadsheet I rearranged by centimorgans and simply grey color everything below 5 cM. The small segments are still there but now they are less obvious.
I tried to do this but I'm quite surprised that my longest single centimorgan is like 23,26 and In your file the longest single centimorgan is like 267,21 Is that normal? Because in this case probably not even one person proposed by FTDNA is quality match for me because everyone is below 35-50 cM range.
I don't know how normal it is. But it means that you are not at all closely related to anyone in the database (without knowing anything else, I would guess African, East Asian, or Polynesian descent)
Hi, I tried implementing these guidelines, but I found out that "download all segments" works only for the 7 selected matches. From your video, I was under the impression that it could be done for all matches. Please help to understand.
Don't select any matches. On the home screen, choose to go to the Chromosome Browser. No matches are selected and when you download, it will download all segments. I just did this for a kit 2 days ago so it works.
Hey Andy, is anyone at Roots tech conference doing a “who is my cousin” . Would it not be a hoot to know if you have cousins at the conference and meet them. Has anyone thought of this?
Yeah, it is the Relatives Near Me in the FamilySearch App. You can do it all throughout RootsTech and a lot of people meet up with distant and not so distant cousins in this way.

=unique isn't valid in Excel. There is a way to find unique values, but I always have to google it to remember.

My maternal is HV2a2 and so far I have no matches.

What about the cM's of the people that are known relations that get deleted? That reduces their overall cM's. Does this matter? Thank you
It will decrease the cM some, but taking out 30 cM from a cousin that you share 900cM with will not change the predicted relationship.

You don't need to with GEDmatch ones. They don't include small segments AFAIK

Can this be done with Ancestry matches?
Unfortunately no. Ancestry doesn't give you segment information. Based on the analysis I did, Ancestry appears to already eliminate the small matches.
