From a fellow motion sickness sufferer to another, get a ReliefBand. They’re pricey but if you get a rechargeable one, it will last years. I used it on the winding road along the Amalfi Coast, the twists and turns in the Dolomites, on boats, planes, etc. and it worked well. Love your videos! Keep traveling and enjoying this wonderful world we live in!

Glad you guys got a chance to visit the Hearst Castle. I went there 50 years ago. It was owned by William Randolph Hearst as their families summer home. One of the Hearst daughters was kidnapped and held for a massive ransom. There is a massive backstory if you care to read about it. I love ❤️ the way you guys overcome obstacles and come up with alternatives. Great video.

I remember when P. Hearst was kidnapped I was 11. Wow it's funny hearing of an event that this generation most likely has no clue about... does that mean we're getting, dare I say... Old 🤣.

We did the Castle tour several years ago .. fantastic! Funny story; as we were touring one the larger rooms, the docent pointed at a huge tapestry and made a few comments about it one of the guests then asked , "where are the originals ?". The docent politely replied, "Madam, these are the originals . " You could hear a pin drop.
    Another great job, you kids.

Oh that’s so cool! We must’ve seen those same tapestries! Someone in our group also asked about them and the guide told us the Louvre in Paris had the copies and each one had a plaque underneath stating the originals were in San Simeon Hearst Castle. So cool!

I visited Hearst Castle in the 1980s... but the best part was the bus driver that drove us up the windy road to the top where the castle is. On the way he said, "If all these twists and turns bother you, just close your eyes. That's what I do... "

What you said about feeling the need to be quiet in the redwoods is how I felt too….they are just so awesome…I always thought I was biased, being a native NorCalian, in that to me no other coastline in the US is more beautiful, but you just affirmed it in what you said about it being the most beautiful you’ve ever seen. I never get enough of seeing, whether in person, or by nice people like you sharing your visit.😊

Monterey County/Pacific Grove is so incredibly beautiful. Many years ago, I was looking for somewhere our family could travel to and I found Monterey and Pacific Grove. We were going every year and staying and we decided to buy a home there. Big Sur is fantastic…there’s so much life and beauty there. I’m glad you were able to experience it. What a wonderful life!

If y’all didn’t know, raisins are from Cali and they do free tours at the Sunmaid raisin factory. It’s near Kingsburg, Ca. You get raisins to try as well. They are so good fresh. Also near there a few miles is the Land O Lakes dairy farm. They do free tours there too. It’s off the Hwy. 198 between Hanford and Visalia. Those are near Kingsburg all with in an hour of one another. That area is the Central Valley and is the farming capital of the world.

About the Redwoods. They are truly the survivors of the forests. Many of the redwoods you got a chance to see in person survived forest fires. That’s why look burnt 🥵 on the outside because they survived the forest fires.

    • @chaosplan
      @chaosplan Рік тому

Yes, they have evolved to withstand most fire events. Another interesting fact… they can capture moisture from the air and collect it on their needles, the water then builds up enough that it will then drip down on their roots. Effectively they are creating their own microclimate.

Road sickness. Caused by ears and eyes not getting same motion info. Have you tried wrist beads on acupuncture spots? Tried only looking at the road ahead and not looking to the side or reading? Tried driving to keep your eyes on the road? Tried sinus saline spray to open up sinuses? Motion sickness can only be prevented, not really treating it after it hits you.

On my first roller coaster ride, I got motion sickness and wondered if it was because I was not in control, as I would be if I were driving. I rode again and held my right foot to the floor, pretending to be in control (with the gas pedal held to the floor) I did not get sick. @@JimmyandNatalie Agree with you about a larger and heavier rig on Highway 1. We did not take the Fleetwood Pace Arrow M.H. on the winding section of 1, left it at the San Simeon camp ground. We stayed in a overflow camping area, was more primitive, (but could see the ocean when there was no fog / heavy overcast). Needed to run Onan generator to charge batteries during the non-quiet hours, plus run any larger power use appliances, (It was year 1987). (Gen.’s had to be turned off by 8-PM, park rules). Certainly had been a bunch of years ago, glad they still have camping. Needed to meet at the visitor center for the Hearst Castle tours, then they bused us visitors from the Visitor Center up to the castle, (in-order to take one of the several tours offered). Think we took the garden tour, saw several pools. Thanks for the reply, best travel wishes‼️

Nethercutt museum in Sylmar CA. (LA area). Free. Need reservations. Known for very expensive cars, much more than just that. They have an organ that shakes the entire building. Pismo state beach is a great campground, if you can get in.

I'm so glad you didn't risk the big fine for parking on the side of the road or getting arrested for filming in Hearst Castle. I would be interested to know how it compares to the Biltmore House. I'm also glad Jimmy did not try to walk down in the middle of the sea lions (You know, how he's always climbing in places that scare me) 😘! Beautiful video! Thanks for bringing us along. Stay warm and safe! Much love from SC, Jane❤🙏🎄

Look at the sky, and focus on the clouds. That does work for car sickness. Also tell yourself "you're okay." Be a broken record to yourself. Hope that helps Natalie.

Great video as always. Bummer you had to break your streak.
One of my daughters (now adult) gets car sick. She has some wrist bands she wears to help. She played college sports and wore them on the bus.

Beautiful Scenery! a hint about car sickness or nausea. Inhaled isopropyl alcohol from alcohol wipes really works great and Fast. Check it out.
