Lighting your fire in woodland, look for lichen some people call it the old man's beard. It is light grey and it grows on tree branches and the trunks. This lichen is fantastic to light a fire as the resin in it is inflammable.
In that situation absolutely the right thing to do as a bigger dog can do so much damage, after two recent issues with other bigger dogs that is what I do and did this morning in fact! You gotta advocate for your dogs especially in that situation xx
When I saw the ebike box saying Hitway it took me back to last year. Then when I saw the bikes, they were the same as mine. But what I did not realise it was so heavy when folded to lift into my car boot. I am 75 and have lumbar spinal stenosis, so I had to sell it. I have replaced it with my own design. Bought a standard folding road bike a Dawes Jack. Then added a Yosepower ebike kit to it. This now only weighs 17kg without the battery attached, so easy to lift. Better still this motor is in the front wheel so the bike is more evenly weight balanced. Also it has 5 power levels, 2 more than Hitway. I want to use it off road so added country tyres with anti puncture liners. Bought the largest battery to give me up to 60 miles on eco.
We didn’t actually use the folding feature much as we have the bike rack so maybe next time we will just get regular bikes with larger wheels! Sounds really cool though!
Great vid guys, love following your travels! I live on a boat and cycle to shops etc almost daily throughout the year, and my advice would be get some panniers you can clip on and off the bike quickly. They'll keep the weight lower down so its more stable. Mine are Ortlieb Back-Rollers I think. Not cheap, but these things are a mainstay for your lifestyle, and you'll be using them most days for the next few years - an absolutely brilliant bit of kit for shopping cyclists.
Yes we were thinking about getting those! Unfortunately we had our bikes stolen recently 😢 if we are able to get bikes in the future we will look into them
Love your videos, when you were trying to light the fire as you panned out I noticed on the tree was a black fungus( I believe it's called king Alfred's cakes after the king that burnt the cakes), anyway this is a great fungus for 🔥 lighting, in the old days they would light it and then keep it in a container until they need it again as it would just smoulder for long periods. I hope you have success in your van life adventures. I've got an old disabled school bus that I've converted lol
No way!! We actually tried to take one off the tree and light it but it didn’t work very well! That’s really interesting! Thank you so much! Amazing - have you taken it abroad?
We did a 8month trip to Europe. France is very good for Aires as you may well know. It will be getting chilly though and they do sometimes switch off the water in case of freezing. Head towards the med for milder conditions. Spain is great but busy by coast. There is loads to see inland. Infact we loved it, but be aware Spain is very mountainous so be ready for snow in winter.Campsites often close off season in france. Get a heated mattress topper now you have good batteries! Lots of different water fittings for the taps as they can be different. The expanding hose pipes are good to take.different gas connectors for lpg if you have a refillable one. We had grip mats and chains if we got stuck (even in mud) not sure if this is feasible on a RV?
How did you stay for 8 months? Did you have a visa? Yes we are looking forward to seeing how Europe is compared to the uk as all we have heard is that it’s so much better!! Oh gosh didn’t think about them switching off water taps! We have the Europe lpg adapters but not got tap ones yet! Will have a look at what we will need for the tyres thank you 🙏🏼
@@ToKnowFreedomyes I am back in the UK, been here 10 weeks and I can safely say France is certainly better, sorry brits. Food is expensive but it always has been and the quality is so much better. Its very seasonal and prices match, Aldi is rubbish and Lidl is popular but no cheaper than any of the bigger supermarkets to be honest. Every village in my area has free park up spots for up to 2 nights with waste disposal areas. I live in the Vienne, between poitiers and limoges and it is cold now, but the temperature really drops in January, thats when you want to hit portugal and Spain I would say. Municipal campsites which are cheaper wont be open now till april but if you have batteries you can park up anywhere for the night, I lived in a Unesco world heritage site village St Savin 86310 and the village next door had a park up but people were often parking for a night or 2 on the town square and nothing was ever done, just be respectful of peoples houses and private parking and you'll be fine, you'll love it. Oh and PS, if you hit France on a Sunday be aware everywhere shuts at 12pm, even the supermarkets so be prepared and always check out shop times on your phone before heading out and plan your journeys as a lot close for 2 hours in the afternoon but all at different times, 12.00/12.30/1.00 Enjoy and try to get off the beaten track in both France and Spain, there are some fantastic hidden gems out there.

Loads of varied interest in the video, and makes for a great video. Interesting stuff about the bikes, maybe show more content of your 'adventures' out n about on them. Get a plastic crate or box to store your shopping in, much more secure than a shopping bag. As for close passing by other road users, it's a minimum of 1.5m gap which is around a car width anything less I'd have no problems reporting to the Police, so fit some bike cameras. You can often prevent vehicles overtaking you on bends or places where you can see it's not wide enough by taking up a wider position away from from the kerb, it's called the Primary position. I'm sure here's loads of UA-cam videos to watch so you can get some info and gain confidence on the road.
