$1200 per day is NOTHING for residential care for a child. Literally NOTHING. $1200 per day is $50 an hour from Medicaid. That's not exactly going to buy state of the art personel or services. I agree, they need to do better, because obviously, this is so terrible.
This should require an autopsy, a thorough investigation, and the results be released to the public.
The prisons operate under staff on purpose. The wardens want the money for themselves and lie to the public that they don’t have enough money.

This is not a new practice, a case years ago involved the judge getting kickbacks from the facility.

Oversight was severely neglected by that " family of love " way before she was put into that academy. It's time to look at some of the judges and law enforcement that sends the children to those facilities

“Most vulnerable youth”? Correction, most dangerous youth. That’s a juvenile detention facility. Good kids don’t get sent there. “Family full of love”? I doubt that. Loving families don’t raise criminals.
I agree that the death should be investigated. But stop portraying these juvenile inmates as if they were good people. Good people are the ones who end up as their victims.

It’s different than what I thought juvenile lockup was. Looks like the companies are trying to take care of groups of people who have very difficult behavior. I’m not going to judge based on this one video.
Maybe the girl did harm herself somehow. Maybe 31 million doesn’t pay for as much as it sounds like. Medi cade isn’t going to pay for top trained staff.
Many bad things have happened before a child has left public school and home to have to be in any locked facility. I’m sorry for the family to lose their child. The whole family has had more to struggle with since the girl’s death. I hope that examining this situation helps improve lives of other teens.
Good people are the ones that do something about bad people😢 the people that are in positions of authority and are taking advantage of those in there facility are actually the bad people as they are supposed to be above reproach not part of the worst problem. And do you want people to probably have kids whether they want them or not whether there's health problems or not and you think that's going to make it better. Soooo, even if that was the case, which it may not be at all, death penalty? 🙄 I was locked up in a place like that at 14 years old because I was a severely depressed suicidal kid. The place was hell. I’m 47 years old now and still think about the 63 days I was in there.

You're getting an awful lot of exercise jumping to conclusions, sugarplum. I've worked at similar facilities and saw many loving, invested parents working their hardest to find help for their children.
And I've been one of only two employees on an overnight shift -me and an agency nurse - caring for 30 patients , because the pay was crap and they couldn't keep staff So matter what the parents were like, if it takes a gold digger to make these greedy bastids do the right thing, then so be it!

It's a TREATMENT CENTER, obviously she needed care that her family couldn't provide, like so many kids and adults who are placed in treatment centers.
I worked in such facilities and let me tell you, sweet cheeks, loving families aren't exempt from struggling children.
Responsible adults don't let their children go to facility's with razor wire and some place that they can't see their children 24/7.
We need the whole truth about what's going on here.

I find it absolutely amazing that in America - the land of Capitalist control - anyone would be surprised that any business, agency, field, or care facility is about anything other than money. Companies pay politicians so that they can do as they wish to make more profits: prisons, hospitals, care centers, medicine, drug manufacture, availability of care and health related fields, let alone any services for youth. Everything is all about maximizing profits and reducing costs.
This is evident in the way policies are made regarding auto defects; is it cheaper to pay out lawsuits if something bad happens or to recall and fix the problem? This is the mindset of America: Money Money Money. America's God isn't great or good, it is GOLD and GREEN.

She was in a treatment center that provides behavioral health services, maybe she has mental issues that make it necessary for her to be in that facility and away from her family. It does not mean that they do not love her. Your ignorance is sad. Shame on you for trying to diminish this girl's death and worth. Remember, what goes around comes around.
