    Awesome Ep and fish, your boat is set up differently, more like a Bass boat with electronics everywhere,

      thanks mate. yeah I'm a sucker for sounders. I've always loved finding new fishing areas so I suppose that's why

    That thing has to be a snook and red drum mixed.. that’s exactly what it looks like! Awesome catch brother 😎

    Mate, what a great video! We just come back from 3 weeks at Karumba and we only caught 1 Barra on the line. 1 in a cast net and we were lucky enough to get given one at the jetty on one of the first nights we were up there. You could see them up the creeks smashing bait along the edges everywhere. Will take note of what you use for next time. We were using Popeyes for bait and tried the lures but they weren’t too impressed. Ended up with about 20kg fish (mostly threadfin salmon). Well done!

    Hi Leigh, what rod and reel combo are you using? What line strength? Really enjoyed it! Thanks, Ian

    • @Leighmitchell001
      @Leighmitchell001  Рік тому +1

      Hi Ian. In this video when I was using the samaki soft vibe the rod is an Edge silver widow MBR 736-1. It is a 7ft 3in, 8lb to 16lb rod with a shimano chronarch c14+ baitcaster reel attached.
      When I am using the hardbody samaki reduces jerkbait the rod I’m using is an Edge black widow SC-BCR 666-1. It is a 6ft 6in, 12lb to 20lb rod with a 13 Fishing Inception SZ reel.
      I used 60lb fluorocarbon leader and 50lb braid as my main line. The 2 reasons I use 50lb braid as my main line is so that when I get a birds nest casting sometimes it doesn’t snap and I lose my lure and when I get snagged it is stronger to pull the lure off the snag. I hope this helps mate

    New Subscriber, So what is your story? Have you been to Karumba before? I have never had the pleasure but you're certainly having an awesome session there. So what are youre travel plans there and where are you based out of? we are in Brisbane and dreaming of a Trip north
    Cheers Garry

      Hey mate I’m based out of Exmouth WA (I’m a commercial fisherman) but just travelling with the family at the moment. No real plans as we travel and just thought I’d do some fishing videos as fun whilst travelling. We are out bush at the moment so no fishing for another month.
      No I had never been to Karumba and actually didn’t even plan to go there. Was on my way from cairns to fish the roper river but the roads were closed because of flooding and ended up there. This was my first ever day fishing there. It is a nice spot.
      If you want to know more about what I’m doing I’m on a fishing podcast called “chumming up” on Spotify if that interest you.
      Thanks for the msg

      @@Leighmitchell001 So how long have you guys been on the road for now? Its amazing to see someone so skilled explaining what the sounder is showing and then prove concept as perfectly as you guys did. SO now your a Professional Deckhand LMAO.
      Dam it got hectic with the family onboard catching and you working the deck, but it proved an insane point that your fishing was nuts but was there a limit?
      The family proved just how massive the Carnage under the water is and we don't see barely a ripple on the surface.
      So what are you doing in the middle of Oz and how long are you there for? or I better keep watching LOL
      How is the Sprinter still going? or is that your next Business endeavor Submarine races in Kakadu? LOL sorry but that is always the trap isn't it, you push because your worried about getting stopped but it's that bloody bow wave that only needs to be 50 mm higher that pulls you up? and easy for other people to have opinions on, but only seasoned 4 wdrivers understand.
      I will go and fill in from the East Alligator up to date but that was where I went to bed last night.
      I am glad to see youre family are out there living life when most of us are making excuses and hoping the family will forgive all the lost years that they didn't have a Mum and Dad around.
      Looking forward to chatting more and on the subject of the podcast can you help by copy and pasting the link or is there another way for me to find it because I have never heard that spotify had anything like that, I only heard of it because my kids listen to music?
      Cheers Brother, keep safe and happy Trails
      Cheers Garry

    Awesome session mate! Any tips on best time in the tide to catch a Barra.

    • @Leighmitchell001
      @Leighmitchell001  Рік тому

      Hey mate I usually find the the turn of the tide at the top or the bottom to be the very best. But in saying that there’s always an exception to the rule.

    Dam dude, you need to add wildman to your title, like Wildman Barramundi Fishing Adventures, that hair is wild. Gr8 fishing BTW, good to seek Karumba fishing well again after being raped for so many years, and that stocking program working.
