This is adorable. It's so nice to see everybody, even the less "important" characters, being included and questioned. And it's so relaxed and no one is attempting to be too eloquent, they're just being casual. And for once, timothée doesn't steal the whole show. (Not that I would mind, I adore him)
The beauty of this movie is that there is not really less important characters. I love Shelly and Ladybirds brother. Btw why does ladybird have a Latino brother?
Yeah, I think it definitely shows that timothée is really talented without having to be the main character or always on the spotlight. And like you said, he does either just as well as the other. It’s great to see when an actor isn’t always picking the same kind of roles and trying new things too!
There was a time when I thought Saoirse was pretentious and her accent exaggerated, but I view as very genuine and an excellent actress, both in movies and in the theater. And yes she has a Wicklow accent.
Paulo Abundo To be honest, in Interstellar not even his dad knew about his existence haha I didn't know Cassie Affleck was there until I saw it in imdb. It was all Muurph Muurph...
Been a supporter since the start. Enemy, Ex Machina and Room were brilliant, and of course Moonlight for last year’s win. I’d actually rank Florida Project, Killing of a Sacred Deer and Good Time ahead of Lady Bird for 2017, with Disaster artist also up there. GREAT year.
rhythmoriented Those are all great but you forgot to mention A Ghost Story which came out this year! Yeah Disaster Artist is in my top 3 of the year! I love it!
Mega MovieZ yea. Into the soundtrack for Ghost Story, and waiting for the right time to sit down and watch it. So many others too, with The Witch coming to mind. A24 seems to have a keen eye for films that don’t quite fit the mold of what the big studios seek out.
rhythmoriented Yeah all A24 films are deep and powerful in some way or another. Yes watch The Witch and Ghost Story. Also check out It Comes At Night and Green Room. All these movies are streaming on Amazon Prime if you have that. A24 is my favorite film studio and I hope to make a film with them one day.
I feel like independent films always have the “average” rating from non-film-goers. Movies like Lady Bird and CMBYN look average from the outside, but when looking into it-the story is so much more deep than it looks.
Johnny EXACTLY!! People just don’t know how to watch film and fully understand in every way possible. The more you examine the film and talk about it, the more you understand it and learn more about it.
I saw timothee everywhere. Because he played in two brilliant movie. Oh my god last year i didn't know who is him and now he's taking part in a lot of award. I love you Timmy... hahaha i hope you dating with Saoirse
Love Laurie Metcalf. I always thought she was a terrific actress who could play comedy and drama equally well. Was she nominated for an Oscar for her performance in this movie?
'The Shape of Water' seems to be the front runner for Best Pictue but I'm rooting for this film. I just love everything about it. Thank you, Greta(I swear to God, Academy better not snub you).
I can see Three Billboards winning Best Picture. I hate saying this word because it's being overthrown a lot, but I just find 'The Shape of Water' to be overrated. It's good, just not as good as most people say. CMBYN seems lost its momentum since it didn't even win a single Golden Globe. I can't see it taking the best picture following the year of Moonlight.
I think Call Me is gonna win best picture exactly because Moonlight did last year. It's funny because I think Three Billboards is overrated, I liked it but I suffered with the pacing problems and stuff like that. Doesn't mean it won the Golden Globes that it will win the Oscars, I think
Reionder Nah! It didn't win a single Golden Globe or not even best picture at the Critics Choice Awards which is closer to what the Oscars pick. It's going to Shape of Water, Three Billboards, or Lady Bird and honestly those three deserve it most.
I know nobody on that stage won their respectable Oscar nominations, but the recognition alone will escalate their careers. Any press is good press. Saoirse is a good example of that (obviously talent has a lot to do with it too).
honest to god when i saw the movie my brain fucked up and i thought it WAS mila kunis before realizing she is too old and famous at this point to get away with playing high school aged characters
Odeya Rush did a great job with that part. Jenna's not a typical movie "mean girl," really, but if you're not someone she considers on her level, she just doesn't see you.
I loved the movie! ALL the cast is sensational. The only thing that I disliked was the ending, because it left me wanting more. A bit abrupt. But that's just me.
Ladybird (Christine) will continue to figure things out, all while being true to herself and totally awesome. But ya, what exactly will she do? I know she is going to be okay though.
That was kind of the point of the ending. It was meant to be abrupt and sad with the intention to leave people hanging. As you see before the screen goes black to the credits, Lady Bird looks around after hanging up. And she looked very lost and was full of homesickness, not knowing what the next step was without the usual assurance of her parents' nagging on what to do next etc as she was now left all alone.
bro "it was the R&B" " you had the be there" CONTEXT. in the script when lady bird and kyle first shake hands. the action notes of the script say "there is something instantly sexual between them. it's as if she heard all R&B songs ever written "
I'll came back to this interview to remember how Timothée Chalamet was when he wasn't famous yet, of course he's not gonna change a lot, just get even more mature
I like how the sound of the next scene overlaps the.sound of the previous one. You have to watch this movie several times to notice all the packed details.
Susanna I think he's busy filming his next projects. Just like why beanie feldstein wasn't in a lot of promotion (she was doing her Broadway run of hello dolly)
“Greta Gerwig” deserved ALL the praise she got from this Film. Man. It was good. Them filming the Beginning, but it was the last Scene of before wrapping. That’s Poetic.
+MCfendit Beanie wasn't there as she was on Broadway , Lucas was filming a movie and I assume Tracy letts wasn't available. Screen time isn't everything as you could argue background characters have more than key characters with important scenes in films (I don't understand why you think he shouldn't be there even though as I've said he had a SAG nomination as part of the ensemble which is what this q&a is for)
I'm with Greta, i don't consider Kyle to be a douchebag or as awful as other people think he is. He's just a teenager, with family problems, who knows he's smart and attractive but also in his own world, with strong, different opinions than other kids his age.
i'm not the biggest timothée fan tbh, BUT he's damn right about kyle not being the asshole everyone thinks he is. he was isolated from his community and his family and doesn't have friends that he could share his troubles with or something. ladybird was just someone else from sacramento for him and that's fine
Love this movie Lady brid 2017 and little women from 2019❤❤ Greta Grewig she is so good amazing actress and whrite and rolemodel and director ❤❤❤🤩😍🎭🌟🌎❤❤❤❤
This movie had the perfect length, perfect cast and excellent editing.
It didn't try to be something else.
Oh, but it was something else.
@@yuna7839 Well it was definitely something. But else?...
I’m so glad he asked everyone questions i hate when they ignore someone
whoever wrote the Kyle question needs to win like a pulitzer award because the wording was so over-the-top and yet precise
This is adorable. It's so nice to see everybody, even the less "important" characters, being included and questioned. And it's so relaxed and no one is attempting to be too eloquent, they're just being casual. And for once, timothée doesn't steal the whole show. (Not that I would mind, I adore him)

Btw why does ladybird have a Latino brother?
@@jean-baptiste6479 her brother is adopted
@@mirandachen8189 thanks. Effectively in Marion's letter to Ladybird it is mentioned that her birth was a miracle.
Yeah, I think it definitely shows that timothée is really talented without having to be the main character or always on the spotlight. And like you said, he does either just as well as the other. It’s great to see when an actor isn’t always picking the same kind of roles and trying new things too!
Audio engineer was SLACKING
Laurie's mic was never on so they just cranked someone else's mic next to her lmao
SAOIRSE is a work of art. A star
FRRR
There was a time when I thought Saoirse was pretentious and her accent exaggerated, but I view as very genuine and an excellent actress, both in movies and in the theater. And yes she has a Wicklow accent.
I want to see that deleted scene of kyle crying w his family !!
Tiffany Liahkim Can't wait to buy the Blu-ray and watch it
MEEEEE TOOOOOOOOO!!!
Steppawolf They talk about it at 33:04
words cant describe how much i need this
there's a reason why it didn't make it, sits cool
when greta said she knew timmy's teacher from LaGuardia i instantly thought of Mrs.Lawton
Lulu Kohler look at me it’s Timmy t
Ms* 😂
Timmy's face profile is incredibly perfect like wtf how is that I didn't know about his existence before.
HAHAHAHA
Interstellar?
Paulo Abundo To be honest, in Interstellar not even his dad knew about his existence haha I didn't know Cassie Affleck was there until I saw it in imdb. It was all Muurph Muurph...
Dary Stabbo HAHAHAHAHA that's so true
This ensemble is magic. You could tell they genuinely like each other. This film is magic too.
Shout out to A24 for producing some of the greatest movies!! You guys are the best!!
Francesca Aldrich My favorite film studio of all time
Been a supporter since the start. Enemy, Ex Machina and Room were brilliant, and of course Moonlight for last year’s win. I’d actually rank Florida Project, Killing of a Sacred Deer and Good Time ahead of Lady Bird for 2017, with Disaster artist also up there. GREAT year.

it seems like the people who thought the movie was average didn't truly understand it?

Timothée is a work of art
Also, how gorgeous Saoirse and Greta are on their casual attires?
HeyItsMike Shows you the kind of warm hearted human beings they are
Saoirse's ''casual attire'' is Chanel...
It's a plain shirt so it's casual.
ikr.. something sexy about simple jeans and a tee
ikr
Love timothée so much !!
I saw timothee everywhere. Because he played in two brilliant movie. Oh my god last year i didn't know who is him and now he's taking part in a lot of award. I love you Timmy... hahaha i hope you dating with Saoirse
timothée ow how cute he his
saoirse is so pretty!
IKRRR
Lily is so pretty!
Love Laurie Metcalf. I always thought she was a terrific actress who could play comedy and drama equally well. Was she nominated for an Oscar for her performance in this movie?
Yes
The director is so pretty..
greta gerwig is a GEM
she's adorable
'The Shape of Water' seems to be the front runner for Best Pictue but I'm rooting for this film. I just love everything about it. Thank you, Greta(I swear to God, Academy better not snub you).
HeyItsMike This is my 3rd pick behind Shape of Water and Three Billboards
I think Call Me By Your Name will win
I can see Three Billboards winning Best Picture. I hate saying this word because it's being overthrown a lot, but I just find 'The Shape of Water' to be overrated. It's good, just not as good as most people say.

Saorise is such a star but so grounded. You know you can talk her up . She'll be sweet to you.
Saoirse looks so cute here with her hair like that and a simple tshirt :D
Greta's comment about being betrayed by bluray extras was so accurate
agggh this is great, she is great, i love her voice
SirPigalicous Who? Saoirse or Greta?
Who is greta?!
That's my answer
At 32:30 if I had taken a sip of water at the same moment as Laurie Metcalf, it would've sprayed out of my mouth from laughing
I know nobody on that stage won their respectable Oscar nominations, but the recognition alone will escalate their careers. Any press is good press. Saoirse is a good example of that (obviously talent has a lot to do with it too).
"Isn't that the douchebag from Lady Bird?"
the girl next to timothee looks like mila kunis
honest to god when i saw the movie my brain fucked up and i thought it WAS mila kunis before realizing she is too old and famous at this point to get away with playing high school aged characters
I was JUST thinking this!!
Her name is Odeya Rush
Odeya Rush did a great job with that part. Jenna's not a typical movie "mean girl," really, but if you're not someone she considers on her level, she just doesn't see you.

Can't believe so many people are here for Timmy... just like me.
Amazing young actors (and of course the great Laurie Metcalf). Such a special movie.
I love saoirse's pants
san ya yes , and the colour love that chalky cobalt blue
i love saoirse
I'll came back to this interview to remember how Timothée Chalamet was when he wasn't famous yet, of course he's not gonna change a lot, just get even more mature

Honestly I'm actually here because of Timothee...
Greta's hair is life
what a lovely cast! every actors has their own unique talent. i love everything in this movie
Anyone who attended Catholic high school can relate to this wonderful film.
Y’all did amazing with the mother daughter thing. So real and true and relatable. 🙏🏼 :)
aww timmy❤❤
Lady Bird introduced me to Saoirse’s work and how great she is
You should see the great Ms. Ronan in “Brooklyn” and one of her earlier films, “Atonement.” She is outstanding in both films.
Why isn't Lucas Hedges in these talks? Like never?!
Susanna isn’t that hella weird?
Susanna I think he's busy filming his next projects. Just like why beanie feldstein wasn't in a lot of promotion (she was doing her Broadway run of hello dolly)
ya upload more stuff like this
love this cast. also greta is so natural or whatever i love it😍
SUCH A GOOD MOVIE. SO GOOD
Iønejapanime I loved it!!! Let alone Saoirse sounds like a local American teen!? My future fav actress!
Bob as the drama teacher is hilarious even though his role is tiny.
LOL at Lady Bird 2: Shelly and Miguel go vegan. I love love love Shelly and Miguel too.
Notice how Gretas writing is so good that its the only thing they credit their amazing acting on.
Everyone is saying they’re here for Timothee but I’m just here for Saoirse lol
I'd buy a many hundred dollar 180 min. Lady Bird director's cut any time.
they should do a ladybird two following kyle
yess that would be deadass so interesting
yes pls hella tight
now I really wanna see that scene of kyle crying :/
Heres to better audio recordings in 2018
I love how Greta and the cast get along so well with each other
Timothee is so beautiful I literally CANNOTT
I love saoirse so much 💙
Ladlebirb is my best film
I love Greta so much and am so thankful for her acting and filmmaking. Love Saoirse and Laurie and Timothee and the rest of the cast.
“Greta Gerwig” deserved ALL the praise she got from this Film. Man. It was good. Them filming the Beginning, but it was the last Scene of before wrapping. That’s Poetic.
My two favorite movies are on that stage. Put Daniel Kaluuya up there and it would be my cloud 9
The Interviewer does a very good job!
30:03
"The wide lines mean singing"
I love this movie and you as the cast of everyone especially Saoirse and timmotee I love you☺😍😘
Siaorse is so smart!
THE CONCEPT FOR LADYBIRD 2 SOUNDS SO GOOD DO IT
32:20
bless you
what a great cast! everyone is so funny and does do well at bringing their characters to life in their own unique way, one of my favorite films !
one of the best moderators i ever seen in this kind of conferences
totally relate to that "good will hunting" dilemma
Nice answer, Odeya.
i always knew i loved greta gerwig as i watched mistress america, glad she started making movies
i love my family
I love my kids.
+MCfendit Beanie wasn't there as she was on Broadway , Lucas was filming a movie and I assume Tracy letts wasn't available. The way timmy look a people when they talk is adorable
i love love love them all so much
simply my favorite movie
loved this movie
Saoirse is so cute
Laurie. Love you!! You rock the Oscars's red carpet.
Happy for your inspired role (I love ♥ moms).. thanx for all the Years of Laughter
aww Odeya isn't in the description :(
I'm with Greta, i don't consider Kyle to be a douchebag or as awful as other people think he is. He's just a teenager, with family problems, who knows he's smart and attractive but also in his own world, with strong, different opinions than other kids his age.
when did this q&a take place? a few days ago?
The gain on those mics are all over the place lol
Saoirse's jeans are lovely. And this might be the shallowest comment here
*He Definitely Sounds Louder!* 😑😑😆😆😂😂.
*This Was Nice!.*
I thought the movie was... wholesome. But nothing out of the ordinary.
When was this filmed?
“where my life has been put to danger”
what movie was she talking about
The host she do her own stunt
Like
Jumping on balcony
Jumping In window
And all
am I the only one who thinks Greta looks like Shane from the L Word? so hot and Saoirse is beautiful.
Oh it's that guy from Deadline
i'm not the biggest timothée fan tbh, BUT he's damn right about kyle not being the asshole everyone thinks he is. he was isolated from his community and his family and doesn't have friends that he could share his troubles with or something. ladybird was just someone else from sacramento for him and that's fine
Man I wish they didn't delete that scene
Did anyone else notice how uneven the space in between the chairs are?? Idk it bugs me
I have seen IT
Love this movie Lady brid 2017 and little women from 2019❤❤ Greta Grewig she is so good amazing actress and whrite and rolemodel and director ❤❤❤🤩😍🎭🌟🌎❤❤❤❤
Where on Earth is Lucas? I want to see Lucas and Timothee on the same stage.
