- In this video, we drive you around China's newest miracle project, the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link.
The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link is a highway link between Shenzhen and Zhongshan in Guangdong Province, China. It consists of an undersea (under the Pearl River) tunnel and a cross-sea (across the Pearl River) highway bridge. On December 28, 2016, the West Artificial Island was first built, and on June 16, 2024, the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link passed the acceptance inspection. At 15:00 on June 30, 2024, the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link was officially opened to traffic. The traffic volume on the first day was 125,000 vehicles.
The East Tunnel and the West Bridge are 50.85 kilometers long. The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link is 24 kilometers long, with eight lanes in both directions and a design speed of 100 kilometers per hour. The undersea tunnel is about 6.84 kilometers long, and the bridge section is about 17 kilometers long. The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge is a fully floating suspension bridge with a main span of 1,666 meters. It has two main cables, each with a maximum cable force of more than 100,000 tons. The world's largest span steel box girder suspension bridge in the sea and the world's highest navigation clearance bridge across the sea.
The vehicle toll for the entire line is RMB 66 per standard vehicle.

In Canada it takes decades to approve and build even a single bridge thanks to UNDRIP, red tape, and poor leadership. And then it is extremely over budget and by the time it is built it is already outdated.
A REPLACEMENT bridge in California that is 1/10th as long as this bridge took 2 DECADES to build.
Fun fact is that not a single western media outlet has reported this
