    On March 20 2015 - Google was at $560, Now 8/11/2021 it is at $2753 at 4-5 bagger. Better hold your compounders. The fact that Pabrai may have not held up to now can be a testament to how difficult it is to hold the compounders.

      While that’s good, Mohnish said he chucked money at it without much research which he has done with other companies like Rain industries. Is it luck? Is it throwing money at some ideas based on a gut and see what sticks? No disrespect to MP but that just seemed to be the case here

    Utterly rivetting. I particularly love the part where Mohnish talks of putting into practise the commonality between investment and entrepreneurship. Also I'm noting with great interest (and a chuckle) some of the detracting comments below. If you're going to call these guys rubbish, please post links that support your credibility.

      its around you, do a 360 degree, so you will come to know.
      Its good to learn from others, we all do and we will, but its disgusting, what he is trying to do ? getting trustship of warren? do you think if he quotes warren munger and bill will lead him to to their innercircle? doing charity in the sake of charity, playing bridge, omg he is studying for warren for a long time, did he ever mentioned he took a nap after noon? lol, warren do, actually monish really needs some psychiatric consultation, it would be mostly DPD (Dependent Personality Disorder) and person may not realizing that he is having some issues. if you know him please help him in getting treatment.

    I love his investment academia, I just don't care for his investment picks. Even for a value orientates individual, they seem extremely risky to me. Horsehead for example. He did amazing with the company the first time and I understand re-investing in a business that you've previously done well in a second time. But, they look like they're going bankrupt this second time. His risk tolerance is higher than mine, for sure.

    • @2011blueman
      @2011blueman 8 років тому

      He's actually not an value investor, I'd call him a parrot or copycat. His only good investments have been to copy actual value investor's purchases (only he runs an extremely concentrated portfolio). Every single video you see of him he constantly uses the same exact Buffett quotes, and they're the same trusims he put in the book that were stolen from Buffett's annual letters. Every original investment he has come up with has been horrible, and has demonstrated a complete lack of investment acumen. His investment in ZINC showed he can't invest to save his life. He's a good self-promoter, that's all.

    • @apostasiaelegcho5612
      @apostasiaelegcho5612 8 років тому

      Leggo My Ego His book was wonderful. It's hard for me to say he's not a value investor when he expresses his thesis of value in his book so well. He's probably right for other people but for me, I measure risk a little differently. But, he seems to do well. You have to be true to yourself.

    • @2011blueman
      @2011blueman 2 роки тому

      @@minecraftsaurus5765 You're equating it to the education of kids, when really he's cheating by copying off of the smart kids in class. That works for a little while till you get caught. Pabrai is terrible at evaluating companies on his own. He's the poster child for "fake it till you make it".

      well, he want to work in berkshire and he is doing his best to get in there which apparently buffet rejected a long back, he bought a dinner seat with warren for 1m$ later, recently he starts to quotes bill gates too because buffet seems to be close with bill. whether he will be successful to getting in berkshire or not, he made some money with his fund, he is now running some charity to show he got great heart to win buffet ass. anyway his fund got some hit recently so that shows any dumb can talk but putting something on the table that really matters,
      at the end, he started playing bridge, seems to be a clowned buffet.

      Really interesting. You got it spot on. Pabrai was behind making the claim for equity holders in the horsehead case. He was never interested in the outcome but rather dumped all his shares at a slightly higher price then he would otherwise have got. To me it looks like a way to manipulate the price. He knew the equity holders would receive nothing.
