Thank you for your comment. Although I built it and made it work I can take no credit for the design which was by the late Eric Taylor. He did design an absolutely brilliant piece of Meccano engineering with this model in my view. Unfortunately when I exhibit it it often doesn’t get the attention it deserves as it’s complexity is hidden from view. I have made a few improvements to it over the years and indeed have made some slight improvements since this video. Anyway thanks again for the comment.
@@sanspareil3018 I was just day dreaming about a time when I was a kid when some friends and I were getting around on push bikes when one of us got the idea to tape a bit of flexible plastic to the frame in a way so that it would run against the spokes in a wheel to make a sound a bit like an engine. I then thought about your model, maybe if you had any room left you could do something similar on the motor shaft.

Biggest issue is obtaining enough 103 F 2 1/2” flat girders for the tracks…….second hand is the best bet. It was a while back I made the video and I have made some improvements since then so it is my intention to do an update video in the near future on the crawler tractor. Are you in the UK? If so I occasionally exhibit it at Meccano exhibitions. I am pleased you like it as I think its a brilliant design and all credit to its designer Eric Taylor.

Excellent model. I've seen lots of photos, but this is the first time I've seen one working. Off to watch Part 2 now.
