I absolutely agree with James on the progression of technology and I think it's partly because I have been using computers and mobile phones for many years.
Bletchley Park is start of the fascinating story of computing, but it's not all about Alan Turing - he was part of a team of ridiculously clever people backed up by thousands of dedicated clever people who together kept the allies on top of the axis 'secret' communications. Please look at Tommy Flowers for the story of the building of Colossus - the first programmable computer - without him the story would have been far far different. Visit the place if possible and be prepared to be stunned.
I absolutely agree. The story of computing has been--in a way--submerged in the Bletchley story. Turing was the founder of the all purpose electronic mind, that he thought, could be adapted to solve ANY problem . At Bletchley, his mathematical mind was applied to the problem of creating ,what became his 'Bombe' machine. It speeded up the process of elimination , but was overwhelmed by changing circumstances. A much faster machine was needed, and vItally, this is where Tommy Flower's expertise in Valve technology , used as a electronic switching device, was THE major step in the creation of the worlds FIRST programmable computer--COLOSSUS.

@GamithUK I agree. And so does everyone else. If you listen to the other video's recorded this was the sentiment that flowed through the day.
