- some context for new people/anyone who hasn't been following my yale journey: I'm an Australian first-year student at Yale. due to being an international student and this whole situation going on at the moment, I couldn't get a visa in time to arrive on campus for the start of semester. so I arrived about 6 weeks after everyone else!! I was taken straight to the room after my on-arrival test, and then had to isolate in my dorm room for 5 days until I got 2 negative test results back. this vlog was filmed on day 3 of my 5-day isolation where I could not leave my dorm room except to go to the bathroom. lmk if you have any questions in the comments!!
this vlog was not very exciting (sorry!) but my upcoming videos are so much more exciting!! you'll get to explore the campus and meet new people with me, so look forward to lots of fun vlogs coming up in the next few weeks xx

You should definitely ask Yale for a fridge and microwave as you are also risking food poisoning by eating food that isn't being reheated. Also, I'm assuming you are paying for/ got a scholarship for a room that specifically has a fridge and microwave so it means you aren't getting your money's worth if you don't have these amenities!!
honestly i felt so bad for you about your food situation. yeah looking back on yourself later you think you look hilarious but honestly I can attest to the fact that when you couple sleep deprivation, jet lag, missing home, feeling unwell, etc. with something inconvenient, it is so normal not to feel okay. I’ve literally been a blubbering mess dealing with shit whilst in a similar mental state. So I’m super glad you’re having a better time food-wise cos it’s really something that can bring down your overall affect and ruin your day ❤️
aah I'm getting so many comments about the food situation!! this vlog was filmed a month ago - I've been filming lots of videos since then but I'm uploading my videos once a week, in chronological order. I have been out of isolation for ages now. I did get in touch with people at Yale about these issues. Yale provides students with access to fridges and microwaves so I shouldn't need to buy them myself. I was just feeling pretty down on this day and had a little rant to the camera because sometimes speaking and getting things off your chest in that way helps - and it did help me just to verbalise how I was feeling. I like to share how I'm feeling at every step of my journey - whether I'm feeling good or not so good - because I want to show you that it's not all sunshine and rainbows. I don't need advice on this situation, because it is over now. I debated whether or not to include my little rant in the video but I decided I would because I want to be realistic with you all. But we are all good now!!!!!!! I do not need advice!!!! thank you!!!!! have a great sunday!!!!!
also.... I LOVE YALE!!!!!!!! and I don't want to complain because I am so so grateful to be here and my experience so far has been overwhelmingly positive!!!! but, again, I don't want to show you all the many many positives and none of the little negatives because that wouldn't be realistic.
Yeah I realised after I’d replied to a comment that you were out of isolation already haha I’ve felt the same way when I couldn’t eat properly or anything at all but I’m glad it’s sorted now :)

Hi Tia. Ask them for a large garbage bag so you can put your rubbish in it and tie the top to help with the smell. Good luck. I'd be ticked off if i was in your situation, especially eating cold foods and luke warm yoghurt. I hope your quarantine time passes quickly. Love your channel which i came across by accident searching flights during COVID.. Thanks for the upload.

I haven't decided on my major yet! if I went to uni in Australia, my top choices were Bond Uni on the Gold Coast, ANU, and Melbourne Uni, so I wouldn't have gone to UWA

Oh no 😢! Food is important especially when you are relying on other people to provide it for you. Having to keep old food in your room is so disgusting! I would definitely be buying a little bar fridge and microwave ( Amazon delivery?) for the future. Glad to hear it improved once you were out of iso. Xx

I know this video was from 3 years ago but you should of bought a mini fridge or at least a makeup fridge or something as a substitute for having no fridge given to you. God, 2020 was a year of madness lol love this series!
Not sure if this will be the same for you, but when I had to go into mandatory quarantine in New Zealand we just put our meal bags/food rubbish outside the door when we were finished and they got collected :)
Why can’t you put it outside the door and let them take it away when they bring you new food, and also the people who brings your food why didn’t you tell them you couldn’t eat that or and ask office to bring your a microwave and refrigerator?

Most people bring a mini fridge and microwave with them to university. It’s permitted. Also, ask if they are doing trash pick up outside your room. Best of luck girl :)
yale supplies students with a fridge and microwave (I'm the only person without one - because I came late I think), so I didn't need to bring them with me as they're meant to be supplied by the uni xx

I have the same thing with processed food and milk, I have fructose intolerance and get so sick when I get or drink certain things
yes!!! I think I might have a fructose intolerance too because I get soo sick when I have certain things like melons, grapes, etc
@@TiaChitty it's becoming more and more common. you don't have to have reactions to all the foods either. lookup the Fodmap diet it helped me so much!! fructose intolerance can be so tricky and annoying but once you know exactly what you can and can not have it makes life so much easier. again it can be so hard avoiding things and living in a dorm can be so tricky being allergic to so much, but just try and avoid high fructose things. if you wanna chat about it or need advice my insta is catches_97
did they end up giving you a microwave and fridge? I'd be so annoyed especially considering how expensive YALE is. So dangerous too bc of food poisoning

I’m so confused, can’t you just email someone letting them know you don’t have a fridge or microwave? They probably aren’t aware you don’t have them or assume you don’t want them if you haven’t contacted them to ask about it.

because yale supplies them!! (everyone else has one, they just didn't have one for me because I arrived late). it wouldn't be a sensible use of money to buy these when yale supplies them
