I get what Andre is doing - bringing the old world/empire culture to the masses. A blue-collar Johan can attend a concert at a regal palace - where he wouldn't dare go 200 years ago. It's all a fantasy now, and there's no harm in that.

Literally thinking about how few of those people in the audience would have been allowed in that palace for any other purpose but to clean it just two centuries ago.
My family came from next to a grand countryside estate like Versailles where Haydn lived for decades. I highly doubt anyone in my lineage sat in any such concert audience.
I’m entirely unbothered by this, BTW. Part of this charm is past-exclusivity, as you observed, and if that means my exclusion to preserve it then I’m also unbothered by that.

Do you REALLY, my dear? Where one in five women died in child birth, could not vote, were considered to basically be grown children, etc.? Do you really want to go back to a time of virtually no employment opportunities (ah, but of course--you are wealthy in that timeline, which meant that it's a good chance your marriage was arranged to whoever the family found promised them prosperity and upward mobility) save teaching, prostitution, laundry work, servant, etc.?
Like you, I love the music, the dresses, the apparent glamour. But--no thank you. I like my life in this time. I like medicine that is available to everyone on demand, the opportunity to vote, to go where I please with no man (be he father, brother, or husband) needing an exact accounting of my hours, I think you get what I mean😊...

One of Andre Rieu's outstanding performance, I think the garden scene were taken from Schonbrunn Palace, in Vienna, Austria. It was the summer residence of the Emperor during the 1800's. I've been there twice and it's a must to visit if anyone has a chance. Absolutely gorgeous.

This is just one part of our great history.
There's nothing wrong with Hip Hop, as an art form that's barely even 40 years old it has a rich and dynamic history and culture. As for Strauss, his work is strong enough that you shouldn't need to tear down another style in order to praise his. Just say it's beautiful, no one can disagree on that point.

I have been in awe of André Rieu since my teenage years when we all sat and watched him conduct the Vienna Philharmonic on New Year’s Eve. I’m now 53 and still watch him in the same awe…and he’s still just as charming and sexy as he was 40 years ago.
Then must be emphatically proud to hear this abt his history n success he's achieved along w fam. N friends enormous support love n respect we all hv for their multitalented expertise each in several instruments wo hesitancy n marvel all they entertain w their love n passion for their life in music...

I attended andre Rieu's concert when he came to Singapore. I had a friend who thought I was crazy to blow so much $$ for that few hours of entertainment. For me, I think he doesn't understand what he is missing.

The dancing scenes were shot ahead of time in Schonbrunn palace, and some of the orchestra shots are from a setup there, but the actual live music we're hearing as well as *most* of the shots of the orchestra are from Vrijthof Square in Maastricht

He doesn't play the full waltz. In the 0:38, for example, there was supposed to have a part that he cuts. I still don't understand why.
Diego Borges de Oliveira it's his version of the piece. know that when he preforms in Maastricht it's a evening full of music so he wants to keep the momentum of the crowd.
It needs to be as easy as possible to listen to. Strauss' work overall is already classics for the millions, but Rieu takes it a step further.
