    Great video mate, thank you. Don't be discouraged by the number of comments, not too many fortunate souls like us get to own a Maserati Quatroporte, and fewer dare to work on them. Look forward to more videos.

    Thanks Ade, I had a similar issue with the electric boot release switch not working on my 2009 QP5 facelift, and it was the microswitch stuck in position, the same as yours. My only suggestion would be a link to the switch on the RS Components site in your description. Annoyingly, when I open the boot from the dash button or key the soft close will pull it shut again unless I lift the lid at the same time, so I need to adjust it somehow.

      @@coaryloverboy5649 I adjusted the lock plate which pulled the boot lid down slightly more. This worked for a short while but now it's gone back to pulling the lid shut again. The answer is probably to replace the small sprung button which pops the boot lid open - although mine appears to be OK, the spring may have relaxed with age.

    I have a question, I have a 2005 quattroporte and I have a warning light on the dash that says the boot is open when it is closed, to my amazement with that light on the car won’t start is there any advice you could give me on where to start. Anything would be much appreciated.

    • @AdrianLeggettUK
      @AdrianLeggettUK  Рік тому +1

      Hi Austin, I'd first check the boot itself is closing properly. There is a spring loaded plunger next to the lock on the boot, which if not adjusted correctly could cause boot to not go fully down. Next I'd look at the microswitch built into the lock itself. If you remove the boot trim you can get access to the wiring. Try a continuity test of the switch when the lock is closed. If that's working okay I would continue continuity moving forward. The wiring inside the loom can break down over time. That is the loom covered by the rubber boot and goes from the boot to the main part of the car. Good luck.

    Hi Adrian. Thx for sharing your m139 videos. I have a facelift 2009 with the ZF automatic and wetsump 4.2 engine. One question, what do you think, the numberplate light's bulb could be replaced without dismounting the whole assembly? Tried shortly by removing the 2 small screws but the back side edge of the plastic assembly is in the way. It is a 50:50 situation. May it can be popped out with some brute force but better to know if it is possible... :)

      Good morning, that’s a great question. Logically you think they will have designed it so they can be replaced without removing the whole assembly. When I repaired the boot switch it was close to MOT time. The screws that secure the number plate bulb covers are corroded and need sorting but that’s on my to do list, so I can’t see if they can be removed. I’m working my way around the car to get all of these little things sorted. A good candidate for a future video. Good luck with it. Thanks Ade

      @@AdrianLeggettUKHi. Tried again but no luck. Removed the boomerang shaped fairing but that doesn’t help at all. It seems it will only go in the hard way. I have one more mistery to solve.. a burnt headlight bulb. The issue is, I can’t find its type. And since the front wheel and wheel arch cover needs to be removed for it, I have to get myself prepared with a replacement bulb (I don’t have place to leave my maser lifted up for long.) Mine is a facelift, which has the led strip. The corresponding bulb is in the outer segment where mine has a H1 on the bottom and a twin filament bulb on the top. Now that upper one has a burnt filament. If you know the type, it would be a great help for me. It looks like an old 5/25w taillight+brakelight bulb but seems longer. May it is the same for original and facelift. Thanks anyway. I will let you know if I successfully replaced the numberplate light bulbs. With greetings from Hungary, Leslie.

      @@MaverickM1 Hi Leslie, I’ve come to the conclusion there is always something to do on these cars and it’s wise to resolve issues as and when they come up rather than let them stack up. Good luck with the headlights.

    Great Vid, but any idea how to pop the boot when the key release cable doesnt work ( even by pulling it manually ) and there is absolutely no power to the car (battery is disconnected). This the problem I currently have. I've tried everything I can find on the net so far, but still can't get it open!

    • @AdrianLeggettUK
      @AdrianLeggettUK  3 місяці тому

      Hi, when you say pulled it manually, do you mean that you removed the trim plate and boot release to expose the cable and then pulled it? If so, sounds like the cable may have detached from the latch. This video ua-cam.com/video/NBDsYSeVAIc/v-deo.htmlsi=ksUPAWyP4WQ6qRof shows the mechanism inside the boot. Not sure if this helps. Not sure how you will access the latch without being able to remove the inner boot lid liner. Is the boot release motor dead?

    • @Bruceybonus2008
      @Bruceybonus2008 3 місяці тому +1

      @@AdrianLeggettUK Yeah cheers Adrian, removed the back plate, noticed the cable had popped off behind where it attaches to the key mechanism, pulled it many times with some force, can feel it attached to something, but its taught. Pulling on it whilst pressing the boot lid didnt release. Obviously can't access the inner liner as the boot is still shut!, trying to work out how to get power to the actuator to see if that releases it but not sure how to do it. Tried power through the bonnet method, but didnt seem to work yet , but that was with one of those little boost batteries. Going to try a proper battery next!, but definitely running out of ideas!

    • @Bruceybonus2008

      Yeah success! its was all down to the lack of amount of juice I was putting in... made a makeshift cable to the anchoring point in the front fusebox under the bonnet, Negative anchored to bonnet release catch, jumpleads to my mates qp5 battery, dash electrics fired up, and eventually the boot lock actuator released after a few attempts from the key fob but not the dashboard button.. so next job is to order a new boot release cable, reattach and hopefully that should solve the problem.. should be back up and running within a couple of weeks! So that answer is yes, it does work when the main battery is disconnected :)

      @@AdrianLeggettUK turns out the button is fine. Before unscrewing the assembly I pressed the trunk release and to my surprise it works. Come to figure out that it works perfect after unlocking the car and opening with the fob first. Every attempt after that, the trunk release works. If I unlock the car and try to use the trunk release straight away, no dice.
      It makes no sense.
