Burgess said he wanted to be remembered as a musician who wrote novels, not a novelist who wrote music. Personally I hear influences of Prokofiev , Debussy and Messiaen listening to this - not quite atonal but certainly tonally ambiguous. I’d love to perform some of his music live, because there’s some beautiful stuff here that more people need to be aware of. Not just the guy who wrote “A Clockwork Orange”.

Love Anthony Burgess. That he was also a composer and conductor has impressed me. This is not the music of a dilettante.
I believe he WAS a composer and conductor. Just had a lovely hobby of writing too haha. Not the other way around.
Exactly, Burgess considered himself primarily as a composer, and only secondarily as an author.
