Okay very good point brother the point of four marriages at one time. Okay so it's not that simple as it sound. In the old era when Islam was spreading there were many women who become Muslim and there spouse weren't and vise versa and in Islam husband is obliged to provide for everything's for his wife so there were many women who needed that support. In Islam if someone becomes a widow Islam incourges them to get married again so the both genders can have support of each other. Now the idea of polygamy (having more than one wife at a time) comes with a lot of rules and regulations that it's super hard to practice. For instance if you look at you 1st wife with love and affection you have to look at your other wife with same intensity of love and affection if not you will be answerable in the eyes of Allah. Same goes for spending money, time, love and everything. I as a Muslim women was shocked to study polygamy that how hard it is to keep because at every point you have to be just with all your wives. And important thing this idea is there to stop extra marital affairs as well because Islam doesn't allow having any kind of intimate relationship before marriage.
