    This is where you go (in the future), " Remember when we were powering up our chicken production project and everything was catch-as-catch-can, and I got flu-sick. It was a struggle. And we 'powered' through it. Look at all of those chickens now and the system we put in place. It's work, but it pays off."

      Yes, sometimes my grit gets me through because things are not always smooth but they still need to get done. Now I am starting my next round of chicks and pray I will be fully recovered when it is time for them.

    I don't know how you able to get so much of your work done around the homestead, even when you are still so sick. I admire your stamina. Your little chicks are so cute and they all look so healthy and energetic. Folks are going to be very happy purchasing your chickens. Nate is going to have to build you another big brooder soon. Y'all have a Blessed day.

    Take care Katie ..Great idea for storing spices. Maine looks like a battle ground with all the tree damage from our storm. My fruit trees were buried and snapped a lot of branches . The weight of the heavy snow took the branches to the ground. When I can get to them I will know the extent of the damage. It was nice getting our power back but our Bluetti kept our pellet stove running along with a generator.

    And I love to see all the new life on the homestead. I wish I could have one of those chickens 🐔 that have feathers on their feet. I can never remember what they are called.
    I also hope Nate is well.

      We have three breeds with feathered feet. Cochins are the fluffiest with almost their entire legs being feathered. Brahmas (Betty Jane) have feathered feet. Salmon Faverolles have an extra toe, feathered feet, and poofy cheeks.

    I always love all your videos, they are fun, informative, and always true to real life on a farm. As a former dairy farmer I feel I can say this without impunity. So sorry you are sick Katie, it really sucks to have to work while sick. I know!

    • @TheKraemerLife
      @TheKraemerLife  2 місяці тому

      Yes, I did sleep in and rest more than normal but couldn't take the time off completely with everything going on. All the chicks were hatching or had just hatched. I imagine a dairy farm was even more labor intensive.

    I commented on your web site but I don't know if it went thru. I wanted to mention about growing a large crop of black- eyed peas to get you thru the winter feeding your livestock. I saw some you tube videos of homestead people doing this. And my brother-law told me the history of the Civil War and how the north took all the souths food and crops and the south had nothing to eat. But the north didn't mess with the black -eyed peas because up north they didn't eat that. If it was grown it was for the livestock to eat. The north didn't know that south grew it for human consumption or they would have annilated the crop of peas. So that was what kept the south from starving. So if you grew a large crop to tired you over the winter. Now it was fed to horses, cattle, hogs, goats. You will have to check if it can be fed to sheep, chickens. Geese as that is what you have. The other two you tube videos were of willow trees. They were small and grow fast. They feed your sheep. Can grow this for winter to feed them. It makes fencing that can last ten years. It can be used to stop erosion on the banks of a pond or creek bank. It can be weaved as a fence or different designs. I so appreciate the videos you make letting us into your life working hard to make your homestead. I dearly love the Shenanigans. Please show them more and give us updates on them. And I like that you named them that. My name is Taia Tully and I live on 22carces in the country between Victoria and Yoakum Texas. Thanks again. Sorry I don't have the name of the video of the willow trees but it is a woman and she had great designs for different fences and crops of it to feed her goats. Bye for now

      I put in more cinnamon than what is called for, I think the original recipie I started with called for a tablespoon but it wasn't enough, in my opinion. I bake it for about 10 min then stir it around then back in for 5-10 more depending on the doneness you want. You may try less time if it is coming out too dark...my oven isn't as strong as a conventional one.
