I loved working with you to make this website come to life! It's such a dream come true to have a real brand that represents my work so well. Thank you!!
Loved watching your web design process! Can please make a video on how you get your clients! and will you use any templates to create websites or you just jump into designing your own layouts?
I have gotten a couple clients from youtube but other than that it's been word of mouth so far! and I've been designing everything from scratch up to this point, not sure what my process will be like in the future.
Cool seeing your process in Illustrator, Figma and Squarespace! Your design came out really nice! Love the feeling of it. Modern, yet calm and peaceful. Did she provide you with any content as part of the process? How do you like implementing websites into Squarespace?
thank you! I had some content from her old website to go off but I think I wrote most of the copy text, and then she came in and adjusted the text here and there. I like Squarespace, but I actually just tried out Framer for the first time and I think I like it better, there's more a lot more freedom.
Hi Jen. Been watching your videos as I start to build my own website! A great help!! Can I ask why you switched to Figma for the homepage design? Is there a benefit vs staying in Adobe?
good question! I don't really know haha I think it's just what I'm used to, I always do design mockups in figma and save illustrator for more graphics related stuff. Actually figma is a little more suited for designing mockups than illustrator and has features that help with that, like you're able to design components and styles that you can reuse, and then if you want to change something down the line you can just change it in one place. And also it's easier for collaboration with the client - they can view the designs in their web browser and comment directly on the designs. And figma also lets you organize designs into different pages, and sections within pages. But personally I think the graphic design tools are lacking in figma which is why I like to do branding exploration mostly in illustrator.
@@jenwebbcreates thanks for the reply! I'm weighing up whether to learn figma or not. In this case I'm only working on my own website and already fluent in Adobe so might make sense to stay there.....but defo intrigued by figma
@@aimeedaniels99 if you're not looking to pursue a career in design and you're just working on your own website then I definitely don't think you need to learn figma. it would be good for long term design projects especially taking on clients but not really necessary to learn a whole new program for one website. good luck!
well a lot of it is also waiting for the client to get back to me and also during this project both of us had long international trips so I think the project took 2 months. but actual work time, I'd estimate probably like 40-50 hours. maybe a little more
Would you be able to do a more detailed, slow paced tutorial maybe one around 20 minutes? I'm trying to create my own website and I like your videos I'm just having trouble understanding
hmm good idea 🤔 maybe I can do a video showing how I would go about designing my own website as a beginner with no design experience but make it more step-by-step instructional.. I'll be able to work on this in a couple months!
