As someone who really only enjoyed Normal People in Sally Rooney’s work, I actually can’t lie when I say Intermezzo made me tear up a little. Maybe it’s because I can connect to the fraught relationship of the brothers in my own life, but this is the most emotionally fulfilled I’ve felt by Rooney’s writing in a long time.
yeah, I think there’s a completeness and depth to the characters and their emotional arcs that go beyond her other novels. I’m really glad you enjoyed this one
Wow, thank you for this video! I read the book and simultaneously watched the according parts of your video, so it kind of felt like we read it together😅 i loved the book and you really put my thoughts into words at the end.
Thank you for putting a lot of my thoughts and feelings into words. I resonate with a lot of the things you talked about in this vid when I read SR's work.
Thank you for this review! I love Rooney and loved this book, but needed to continue processing after finishing and you gave me lots more to think about. Great review!
Wonderful review! Just wanted to share that I can't recommend enough the audiobook versions of all of Sally Rooney's novels. Really helps if the formatting or stream-of-consciousness style of this one is a problem. I loved Intermezzo and think Rooney is so good at creating really recognizable characters in general, but especially in this one. You're so right that miscommunication is so central to Rooney's approach to conflict. I know some people find that frustrating, but it's because that is the stuff of our everyday lives! That is so much of human conflict, and it's worth reading and writing stories about.
I’ve actually never tried the audiobooks, will have to give them a listen! I can imagine the flow of the novels coming across really beautifully on audio
That's so interesting because I started the book as audio but then had to switch to reading cause I couldn't follow it the way I could. Sometimes I had to read some lines 2 or 3 times to really get into the feeling.
TYSM for sharing your thoughts about Intermezzo! ☺ i truly enjoyed watching your review on this book! i can't wait to read it soon, hope i can like it as much as liked reading normal people! :))

The way I IMMEDIATELY made tea and sat on the couch to settle in for this
with a cup of tea is also the perfect way to enjoy the novel (it can catch all your tears)
Adding to my TBR thanks for the spoiler free info 😊
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! 💕

This book is hard to read, but I’m excited for when I learn to read this effectively
for me after a few chapters I got used to the rhythm of the book!

I’m sending you love❤
This Book helped me to cry and move on with my own life. I wasn’t fully satisfied with the end though:/ but I often don’t love the endings of books.
you are so articulate
thank you, I appreciate this a lot! 💛
I hope it’s different from her other books cause i did not like her other books
it’s pretty different but also similar? lol hard to say bc idk what you didn’t like about her other books
i went to target so fast when this came out its not even funny
❤
First page in and it literally makes no sense?! Has this even been edited? What a mess. Such a disappointment.
It’s an experimental, stream of consciousness prose style…
