it looks like we can comfortably squash the CM position and play with 2 CDMs and Odegaard up there as CAM...... we are not good at stopping counter-attacks anyway, so staying compact makes much more sense for our formation

I’m glad people can appreciate how consistently good he is again. I can’t believe half a dozen bad games, albeit at a crucial point, had fans thinking he was replaceable. Literally argued with other arsenal fans that he is as valuable to arsenal as any other player probably more because he not only protects the defense but he also unlocks defenses with dribbles, clever touches/turns and incisive passes which gets the ball to our forwards in space EARLY; before defensive blocks are set up. If he’s healthy arsenal are a lock for top 4 he’s that good.

I see some nervousness in his play but he will settle in and start running with the ball like we know he can.

Elneny is not there to play, Arteta has already said how much he creates a togetherness in the team. He is an inside man. Unless Elneny decides to go to Arabia I don't see Arteta selling him.

Being athletic and having stamina are too different things.... Xhaka never looks tired. Maybe Rice will need sometime to adjust to the new role.
Rice gas never played for an attacking style team so is only used to being a CDM, took xhaka nearly 7 years before he started playing well in that position
